Read more MCR2030 Webinar Series: Getting to know the City Climate Finance Gap Fund The Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy (GCoM) has ocially joined the MCR2030 initiative, and held a webinar on the City Climate Finance Gap Fund (Gap Fund), in partnership with UNDRR, the European Investment Bank, and the World Bank. During the session, participants learned about the Gap Fund, its goals and how to access funding. The technical assistance is available to countries on the OECD DAC list. Since then, the CoU has signicantly grown and is now transformed into the Community for European Research and Innovation for Security (CERIS), an informal platform under DG HOME’s lead. Learn more about CERIS activities through in this article. Learn more Milan at the MCR2030: Transforming streets with tactical urbanism. Milan joined the MCR2030 initiative in August 2021. It aims to serve as an inspiration for other cities and hopes that the initiative will help in exchanging knowledge, experiences, and good practices. In this article, the city shares its experience adapting to climate change and other risks challenges. In the past years, Milan moved towards a cross-sectoral ecological transition to becoming a greener, more resilient, and livable city. Among the different solutions, the municipality decided to make use of the so- called Nature-based Solutions approach (NBS) to increase its adaption capacity. Read more MCR2030 Updates In the past month, Torres Vedras (Portugal), Vracar and Obrenovac (Serbia), Shkodra (Albania), Milan (Italy), Dushanbe (Tajikistan), and Silves (Portugal) joined the MCR2030 initiative. The Initiative also welcomed National partners, including the Public Investment Management Oce of Serbia, the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency of Turkey, the Association of Albanian Municipalities, as well as new supporting entities from the UN System - UNDP, and international partners the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy, all making a commitment to support cities in building resilience. The UN Oce for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) works towards the substantial reduction of disaster risk and losses to ensure a sustainable future.
