Dr. Dan D. Garrisonas you look forward to the mallY

have the opportunities in agriculture and related areas been

any greater tllan they are today. The national need for

education and training is becoming acutely greater. Your

timing is splendid.

Congratulations and please keep growing.

Sincerely,

Dan D. Garrison, Director

The Ohio State University

Agricultural Technical Institute Associate Dean, College of Agriculture

Dale Parnell, President

and Chief Executive Officer of the American Association of Community and Junior Colleges (AACJC), will deliver the Sixteenth Annual Commencement Address for graduates and guests of The Ohio State University Agricultural Technical In titute.

Dr. Parnell is the author of the nationally acclaimed book, The Neglected Majority, which

Dr. Dale Parnell re ponds to the recent parade of education reform report. The book addresses such issues as the failure to recognize that three out of four high school students-the neglected majority-will not likely earn a baccalaureate degree.

He was listed by The Chronicle ofHigher Education as one of the most effective higher education leaders in Washington, D.C. and helpeddraftand ecurepa age of the 1986HigherEducationAct. He also served on the 1984 Pre idential Inaugural Committee.

He was appointed by the President of the United States as chair of the ational Advi ory Council on Equal Educational Opportunity. In 1985, he was named administrator of the year by the California Community College Administrators Association.

Few leaders of the American educational scene bring such extensive experience and in-depth knowledge about current educational issues.

As a former high school teacher, principal, school superintendent, state superintendent ofpublic instruction, college professor, and president of three comnlunity colleges, Dr. Parnell has become the nationally recognized .. poke .. per on for more than 1,224 community, technical, and junior colleges across the nation.
