Types of Sentences• There are 6 types of sentences.• Declarative• Imperative• Exclamatory• Interrogative• Simple• Compound• Complex• Compound-Complex
Declarative
• A Declarative sentence is a sentence in the form of a statement.
• It Ends With a period.
• Ex: I go to Stephenson Middle School.
Imperative
• A(n) Imperative Sentence is a sentence that is in the form of a command.
• Ends with a period also.
• Ex: “Clean up your room please”, My mom said.
Exclamatory
• An Exclamatory sentence shows excitement.
• Ends with a Exclamation point.
• Ex: I can’t wait to go to Netherworld this weekend!
Interrogative
• A interrogative sentence is a sentence that is in the form of a question.
• Ends with a Question Mark.
• Ex: Where is Waldo?
Simple
• A Simple sentence, also called an independent clause, contains a subject and a verb, and it expresses a complete thought.
• Ex: Kobe has football practice today.
Compound
• A compound sentence contains two independent clauses joined by a coordinator. The coordinators are as follows: for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so.
• Ex: Shamar played Baseball, so Jasmine went to go cheer him on.
Complex
• A complex sentence has an independent clause joined by one or more dependent clauses. A complex sentence always has a subordinator such as because, since, after, although, or when or a relative pronoun such as that, who, or which.
• Ex: When Isis handed in her homework, she forgot to give Mrs. Dawson the last page.
Compound-Complex• A compound-complex
sentence is made from two independent clauses and one or more dependent clauses.
• Kennady decided that the movie was too violent, but Trayvon, who like to watch scary movies, thought that she was wrong.
