Page 2: Types of creel

The Schlafhorst automatic creel "Z25" is one of the most highly developed creel currently available.

It is essentially a truck creel with automatic chain loading and unloading and with two features to reduce creel change time. The creeler threads, the yarn from the package simultaneously through tension device and break detector and collectors, all the ends from one tension column and twist them together before locating them in a holder on the threading truck. As the truck is pushed forward, it automatically threads and separates the ends according to creel tiers and columns.

The carriage stands at the rear of the creel during beaming and is released when every end is cut between package and tension device, the "live" end being secured in a clamp.

When knotter carriage reaches at front of the creel, the operative operates the chain conveyer and removes the creel truck from the creel.

The knotter carriage has a separate knotter head for each tier on each side of the creel, so a six tier creel have twelve knotter heads on the knotter carriage.

When the full creel trucks are correctly assembled by conveyer chain, the knotter carriage ties one column on each side simultaneously. This take five seconds, with two seconds traverse time to the next column.

This type of creel was designed as a variation of Mobile creel to enable the creeling up of bobbin which, owing to their heavy weight (5kg to 25kg) cannot be pinned on trolleys.

Each bobbin holder is double sided: the threads are unwound form one side, while a new series of bobbins is creeled up on the other side.

The swivelling creel has been designed to reduce the large space requirement of the truck creel system and both Benninger and Hacoba offer excellent swivel creel.

This type of creel is frequently used for very large creel package applications which make truck difficult to move from winding to warping. Two arrangements are possible , the creel can be loaded from the outside with inside draw-off or vice versa. The former arrangement is preferable as it not only provides a straight thread path but easier to load.

This creel is particularly suited for large packages of filament yarn. While the package frame is being run off on one side, the new lot can be

creeled on the other side at the same time. It is also called as creel with rotating frames. This creel is available with inside or outside yarn creeling.

In this type of creel the packages are loaded on double-sided trucks that can be entered and taken out individually.

The trucks have ball-bearing mounted wheels for effortless movement.

The special wheel arrangement allows the trucks to be turned 360° on the spot.

During the creeling of the first set of trucks the reserve set can be reloaded to shorten lot changing times considerably and enhance the productivity of the warping equipment. The downtime is s restricted to the time required to move the carriages in and out and to knot the yarns.
