Twitter Vocabulary Tweet A Tweet is any message posted to Twitter which may contain photos, videos, links and up to 140 characters of
text.
User name This is your Twitter name. You get to choose what you want (as long as it’s available) when you sign up for the account.
Retweet A Retweet is a tweet you forward to your followers
Direct messages
Private messages sent from one Twitter user to other Twitter users. They do not appear in public feed. You can only send a Direct Message to a person or a group of people who follow you.
#Hashtag A hashtag is any word or phrase immediately preceded by the #. It is used to identify tweets on a similar topic. #elearning, for example, would find all tweets related to eLearning. It groups similar tweets together
Reply When you begin a Tweet with @username it is sent directly to that user.
Follow Once you start to follow someone, his or her tweets will automatically appear in your Twitter home page.
Favourite Favouriting a Tweet says you like a specific Tweet. You can find all of your favourite Tweets by clicking on the favourites link on your profile page.
