aary on \Vednead&j' afternoon in the Church of Chriat Diaciplaa, with aom 150 membera and gueata in attendence. Gueat apeaker for the occaaion waa llra John .Adamaon (Eljh'a Jl:>ora) a formar reaident of the conmuni ty, who waa introduced by her arother'a wife, Kra.Jamea J.t>ore.

Mra. Adamaon outlined the hiatory of the Shakeapearean Featival, in the eatabli&hment of which, ahe haa played an important part. For four yeara, the apaaker haa lectured a large clua of ~men on the aubjeat ot Shakaapearean :glaJ'a. She diaplqed ooatumea worn by Tarioua aotora and a ctreaaea. at the featival. lira. R.A .Smith thanked the apeaker and on behalf of the mambera, preaanted her with a cup and aaucer.

Two charter mambera were preaent, J&a.Arthur lrbore and Ura.Roy lt:l,Gregor. Kra.lC,yron Aahord, tha praaident preaided over the meeting. The addresa o• welcome waa made by Kra.uthur l.bore. J.rhe Kingamill - Mapleton Branch ot The Women•a Inatitute honoured Ml"a .Boy Ml .Gregor (Florence Finch) with a Life Membership Certificate on Ju.l¥ 4th, 1940 and in September 1948, the Crossley Hunter Group ot The Branch presented her with a Lite MemberShip pin. Florence Finch and her mother,Mrs. Culver Finch were 8JIDDg the group of ladies, who met at the home of Mrs.John Brod1e,Mapleton on Feb­ruary 9th, !907, to organize a Branch of The Women's Inatitute. ~ct1Te through the Jteara, ltrs.J.b. Gregor sel""t'ed as Secretary in 1915 and 1916 and again tn 1917-18. After her marriage, she was pres­ident in 1923 - 24. At the time of writing (1959), Mrs .Kc.Gregor is the only remainiDg one, 11TiDg, who were present at the inaugural meeting.
