• Former President, Black Alliance of Thurston County

• Executive level experience in large organizations and non-profits

• Community leader and organizer; Multiple non-profit board roles in Thurston County

• Training, experience and results in assisting organizations and groups in developing cultural competence

• Experience in leading organizational management/restructuring/strategic planning

Teaching & Learning• Caprice Hollins: Cultural Competence Keynote & Training Series (Aug. 2017 to present).

Focus: School and District Leaders

• 2018-19 Trainer of Trainers Model – Launch in August 2018 - All Staff

• U.S. History Teachers/Black Alliance Representatives (Civil War): December 8th

• American History Traveling Museum – BMS/TMS February 5th & 6th

• District ACT Fridays – Planning underway for use of ACT days to conduct additional professional development (Culturally responsive practices, restorative justice, student voice/forums, curriculum/materials review, data review to inform ongoing professional development, other)

• Ongoing SIP Planning includes achievement gap analysis and tiered intervention planning

• Student Forums, “Conversation Cafes” – Researching OHS strategy; THS Diversity Club Model – Student Voice

• Long Range: Review of system policies, structures and processes to ensure culturally responsive teaching/learning decisions and programs.

Community Engagement

• Expand recruitment efforts with Joint Base Lewis McChord

• Activate local partner network to recruit candidates for available vacancies

Communications

• Will be developed/expanded as policy decisions and initiatives are planned and implemented

• Will be used to announce upcoming events in TSD and beyond (Calendar)

• Will link to existing supports and resources available to students and families

• Will link to resources for teaching and learning

• Will link to local, regional, state and national resources/organizations

• Will include opportunities for parent and community engagement
