Exponential growth has taken place in ICT over recent years and it now takes a central place in our curriculum. ICT empowers people at work and at leisure to achieve in ways that not so long ago could scarcely have been imagined. ICT connects people with each other and with services.

Information and Communications Technology enhances education right across the curriculum. Studies show that engagement and participation are heightened by the use of ICT in the classroom. Even more importantly, learning outcomes are improved when

methods of instruction include ICT. ICT facilitates peer-learning and optimizes feedback.

Competence in Information and Communication Technology is designated as one of seven general capabilities in the Australian Curriculum. As ACARA puts it in ‘The Shape of the Australian Curriculum’, “students develop ICT competence as they learn to use ICT effectively and appropriately when investigating, creating and communicating ideas and information at school, at home, at work and in their communities.” The centrality of ICT is endorsed in the new SACE through the development of research skills and the digital assessment tasks it encourages.

All students in Years 11 and 12 at Trinity College Senior will be provided with a high-end Tablet Laptop computer for school and home use. An expanded series of mobile labs will be available for students at Blakeview, Gawler River, North and South. Professional development for staff has led to even greater use of our expansive electronic whiteboard network. Recently, a ground breaking new ICT centre has been developed. Known as the ‘BAE Systems Information Technology Centre’, this facility fully integrates strategic, technical and educational ICT staff all under the one roof. It features student and staff service components and a research and development space. Delivering a learning management system through ‘SharePoint’ will see improved communication between the College and home.

In planning this future for our students, we are guided by the principle that one-to-one computing is about learning, not technology. Trinity always puts people first. Trinity students will have real advantages when they join the workforce due to the skills they will develop through ICT.

Chinese starsTrinity College recently conducted a Language and Cultural Performance night on behalf of the Chinese curriculum program with performers ranging from Reception through to Year 11. A variety of performances including singing, dancing and acting were energetically performed.

Fabulous photographerWith over 122,000 entries to the Moran Contemporary Photographic Prize in 2011 Laura Webster (Year 9) is the National Winner for the Years 7-8, Secondary School Section. Laura was awarded a $2,000 cheque and her winning photograph (of her cousin at his football game, above) is on display in the State Library of New South Wales for two months. Laura was shocked to hear her name called as the winner and said during her acceptance speech in Sydney “I feel honoured and proud.”

Dramatic entertainmentInspired and based on William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Popular Mechanicals followed the trials and errors of a group of handy-men, come amateur theatre performers, the Rude Mechanicals.

The Popular Mechanicals, bombards the audience with jokes of every kind. The Year 10 Trinity North Drama Group turned The Popular Mechanicals on its dramatic head. Assisted by acting coach/director/professional thespian, Kane Lach, who had performed in several productions of The Popular Mechanicals before, we were able to adjust the script, insinuating our own talents and ideas into the play.

Trinity SuccessA writer’s paradiseStudents have demonstrated a wealth of writing abilities this term. Meg Eichmann (Year 10) had a collection of her poetry writings launched in a book titled “A Castle in the Mirror”. Trinity’s writer-in-residence, Mr Jeff Guess has mentored her over the past year to publish her poetry work. Meg has also commenced work on a very ambitious novel.

Year 5 student, Gabby Childs is the only South Australian to win the Pilot Pen Creative Scholarship. The competition requires students to develop their own creative short story written by hand, in pen and between 250-350 words. Gabby’s prize includes $1,000 to spend on creative writing workshops and other educational opportunities which focus on writing.

Amelia Sharrad, Zeke Sands, Tylor Olsson, Kelsey Howell and Jacob Stevens (Year 5) together with Amber Ryan and Dylan Russell (Year 6) presented a piece of their work at the SA Writers Centre “Young Writers Night” for the Northern suburbs. The students received valuable feedback and encouragement from the guest authors and all left determined to continue developing their writing skills.

Better BuddiesOne of the most common forms of

violence in the lives of children is bullying.

We know that by helping to build

relationships in schools where students

feel connected, valued and supported,

we can reduce negative and violent

behaviours such as bullying. Better

Buddies is an initiative of The Alannah and

Madeleine Foundation designed to create

friendly and caring school communities

where bullying is reduced. Better Buddies

enables younger children to feel safe and

cared for, while older children feel valued

and respected. Through Better Buddies,

students in Middle School buddy up with

students from Junior School. The Better

Buddies program now has 90 students

involved from Reception to Year 10 at

Blakeview.

Big jobs for little peopleFormer MP Natasha Stott Despoja AM has requested interviews with South School Environment Committee members Jack Gill, Shannon Miller and Gabriella Barilla (Year 6). Natasha is looking for one representative from each State to form a new national committee of experts called The LITTLE Committee (which stands for The Leading Integrated Taskforce Tackling Litter Everywhere). Each member will be under 15 years of age and the focus of this Committee is to reduce littering in Australia.

Trinity Community

A special Holiday Activity Community Accommodation and Respite Agency (CARA) is an organisation which provides children and adults with multiple and severe disabilities opportunities to live full and rewarding lives. Trinity has been involved with this organisation for the past 10 years and in the July school holidays, a group of twenty four students, Mr Reynolds, Dr Halliday, Rev’d Ruth, and Old Scholar Emily Smith attended one of the camps at the Gladstone Goal, accompanied by four carers and Jessie Flavel from CARA.Caring for eleven children, the camp was a fantastic experience for all who attended. Activities included karaoke, a trip to the Gladstone Op-shop, arts and crafts and a day trip to Port Pirie. Besides being enjoyable, the camp was crucially beneficial on a personal level; along with new friends, and life long memories, the students all learned much about themselves. Several students would say that participating in the CARA camp has “changed their life” with one student also stating that it “will continue to shape my character for years to come. I recommend CARA camp to anyone and everyone; it really is worth every minute and I am going on many more CARA camps in the future.”

Stylish Year 11sHundreds of eager Year 11 students were presented during Term 3 at the annual Presentation Balls held at the Adelaide Convention Centre. Ball A and B each boasted their own unique atmosphere and provided a rare opportunity for students to participate in something a little different from the usual modern lifestyle with which they are familiar. Mrs Deborah Russell, Head of Year 11 presented all 242 students, providing a brief snapshot of each student’s past experiences and future aspirations. A few Year 12 boys also stepped up to escort a lovely lady when numbers were stretched. Following the presentation students participated in a number of dances which they had been taught in the weeks prior. Families, friends, staff and students all had a magnificent time at these very significant events in the Trinity College calendar.

Powerful Guest SpeakersSenior students and staff were empowered by two guest speakers who travelled from America to talk to us about restorative justice. Azim Khamisa whose son Tariq, was shot senselessly whilst delivering pizzas in a gang related incident, chose the path of compassion and forgiveness, rather than revenge, and established the Tariq Khamisa Foundation. Joining Azim to talk to staff was Ples Felix (Grandfather of Tariq’s killer) who discussed the importance of stopping violence for children. The story was confronting and challenged core beliefs.

Girl Power When it comes to the impact we, as individuals, have on our environment small changes can make a huge difference. Jane ‘Sparkles’ from Enlighten Education worked through the ‘Butterfly Effect’ program with Year 9 and 10 North girls. Topics included ‘Love the Skin You’re In’, ‘Wake Up Sleeping Beauty’, ‘Dollar Diva’, ‘Real Girl Power’, ‘Chill Out’, ‘Forever Friends’ and the ‘Princess Diaries’. Girls were encouraged to critically evaluate the messages that bombard them every day and develop strategies to help them respond intelligently and objectively. They took time to reconnect with their core values and beliefs, and remember just how truly special they are.

new cubby houseThe Montessori Preschool recently celebrated the arrival of their new weather proof cubby house. The stand-alone cubby house enables an adult to stand up inside the structure, and has sliding Perspex windows, a garden box for the window sill, a verandah and stairs. The children recently hosted their generous supporters; Bendigo Bank and Backyard Inspirations for afternoon tea in their new cubby house to say thank you.

The Power of LoveThe Hewitson Theatre was recently invaded with noisy African animals as the Year 3 South students hosted a whole school assembly. The students demonstrated the power of love by telling the story of ‘The Lion Who Wanted to Love’ through song, prose and role play. Parents were entertained with talking lions and cheetahs and were impressed by the students’ voices and creative hand actions which entertained all.

Exploring FranceDuring the month of April, a group of 38 students and 4 teachers spent 3 weeks in France. Arriving at Paris airport the group drove to Mâcon where they were greeted by their French families. The exchange began with a weekend at the families’ homes and an introduction to the Burgundy region.

After a restful weekend, it was off to school with lessons on France and the region and a visit to the town of Mâcon. During the rest of the week, the group spent some days at school playing sport or attending lessons. They attended a reception in the town hall in Mâcon, visited Lyon and Dijon and made presentations at an Australian evening with the French families.

The group returned to Paris to explore the city’s many sites including; the Louvre, Versailles, the Arc de Triomphe on Anzac Day, Sacré Coeur and Montmartre. The group also climbed the bell tower of Notre Dame, went up the Eiffel Tower, strolled along the Champs Elysées Avenue and finished with a day at Eurodisney.

Reet Stewart 2011 French Trip Coordinator

Kenya discovered through Book WeekYear 5 North students have worked with Reception students to create a display for Book Week about the book “For You are a Kenyan Child” by Kelly Cunnane and Ana Juan. This involved researching the background of the story together and finding examples of ragballs, soap carvings and hut types. Some of these pieces were tricky to construct but with patient guidance from the Year 5 students, the display is a masterpiece in the Roma Waite Library.

Trinity Sport NewsSpecialist Program Trinity College has made a serious commitment to the long-term development of its athletes with the Term 4 introduction of Athletic Development to the co-curricular options. The program will concentrate on core stability, balance, explosive power, endurance and flexibility, and aims to provide athletes with the best-possible grounding for optimum sports performance.

Sporting Hall of FameFriday 21 October the Trinity College Sporting Hall of Fame will officially be unveiled with 22 Old Scholars inducted. Located in STARplex it will enable our community to view the wall at any time.

state soccer ChampionsTrinity College are state Boys knockout champions, after a miraculous 3-2 golden goal, come-from-behind win against Rostrevor at Burton Park. Five minutes into extra time, in teeming rain and a howling gale, a deft header by Dylan Pickert sealed an amazing comeback and sent the Trinity faithful into raptures as the College captured its first ever Open state soccer title. Trailing 2-0 with less than five minutes remaining in the match, many in the crowd had resigned to a gallant loss, but an opportunistic goal from captain Declan Stimson retained a faint pulse. A frantic final few minutes ensued, and when Cameron Wilson nailed a perfect cross past the keeper seconds before full time, the Trinity fans were delirious to be going into extra time. On the biggest stage, under the worst conditions, with the bleakest score line, Trinity College created history. The Open girls made their grand final and the Year 8/9 boys the semi-finals.

Swimming PotentialTrinity College finished in second place in the Independent Schools Primary Swimming Carnival, held at Westminster School recently, proving the future of Trinity swimming is in good hands. Age group champions and their events were as follows: Jared Bruecher – open breaststroke and butterfly; Jacob Desmond – 12/U backstroke; Erica McGiffert – 10/U breaststroke; Shalece Mezzino-Campion – 12/U breaststroke; Courtney Sexton – 11/U freestyle, backstroke; Maddison Stevens – 12/U backstroke and butterfly.

Cross Country ChampionsTrinity College fared brilliantly in the State Cross Country Championships, held in June every year at Oakbank. The College returned its best-ever teams results, finishing in the top three in every high school age group, while the U11 boys (Jude Clayton, Jay Goode, Jackson Hately and Todd McKenzie) earned a gold medal. Outstanding individual performances were registered by Emma Dunlevey and Michael Gliese, who both finished fourth in the State.

sport shortsTRAVIS HEAD (Year 12) was named in the Australian u19 Cricket Team for a tour of India. ARIELLE ABBATE (Year 5) has been selected in the State SAPSASA Athletics Team to compete in Darwin later in the year, based on her outstanding performance in the 200m at the recent SAPSASA Country Championships. LAuRA KINGSMILL (Year 9) played in the u16 State Schoolgirls Hockey Team which won a bronze medal in the National tournament held during August in Newcastle. DYLAN SCuLLY (Year 11) was selected in the National u16 combined team based on his eye-catching performances in the National u16 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Rugby Tournament in Queensland in August. Gold Medal to KATE EDWARDS (Year 11) in the 400m individual medley (16 years age group) at the State Short Course Swimming Championships. NATALIE AYRIS (Year 6) who will tour the uSA with the South Australian Kangaroos (Ice Hocky Team). BEN WARLAND (Year 9) has been awarded an Australian Institute of Sports Scholarship and recently captained the u16 Australian Soccer team in Asia.

Netball ConquerorsThe Open Girls Knockout Netball team capped a sensational season, finishing second in the State, losing in a nail-biting overtime game in the final. The Year 8/9 Knockout Netball team ended up 6th in the State.

Trinity College Senior Netball team has returned from the Annual Gold Coast Netball carnival as undefeated champions, beating New Zealand team, Waihi College in the Grand Final to take the title.

Five teams made it through to the G&DNA Grand Finals, with four teams winning and two teams made it through to the SADNA Grand Finals with one team winning, making it another successful winter season for Trinity College Netball. What’s even more impressive is that over 400 netballers were involved in the netball program at Trinity this winter season.

Coaching ExcellenceThe Trinity Cricket Academy, led by ex-Redbacks Coach, Mark Sorell, offers the College’s best cricketers a rare insight into the world of elite cricketers with the term-long program. This is truly an outstanding opportunity for the students that would simply not be available to domestic clubs. In addition to the Trinity Cricket Academy, Mark is offering small group training for all those interested in taking the extra step with their cricket. To book extra coaching with Mark Sorrell contact the sports office on 8522 0645.

‘Snow’ PicnicDuring the July school holidays, a group of 40 students from across the College participated in the Annual Ski Trip to Mt Hotham. The event was held over a week and allowed the students to learn and develop snow sport skills (downhill skiing and snowboarding) whilst enjoying the beauty of the Australian Alps. The trip was blessed this year with above average snowfalls enabling participants to experience terrain over the entire mountain, see and feel falling snow and most importantly, provide adequate cushioning for falls. Year 11 participant, Mark Williams recalls that the trip allowed him to improve the skills he developed at the previous two trips he has attended. Students are taught by fully qualified instructors and supervised by Trinity staff. Another successful trip left everyone excited to go again next year.

Junior Robotics ready to make an ImpactTrinity College Junior School Robotics once again competed at the South Australian Championships in Hindmarsh. The students, who had been preparing since the end of Term 1, were out to better the results of last year. It was their biggest team ever sent with 16 students in 6 teams, and I am happy to say we were very successful. Congratulations must especially go to Natalie Hilton and Olivia Massey who, for the second year in a row, have won the Junior Dance Theatre Category. Two teams competed at the National Championships in Tasmania.

Team BaCoN Bright Spark WinnersThe ABC TV New Inventors Grand Final Bright Spark Award was won by the Team BaCoN designed Space Saver Spacer, a portable and collapsible large volume asthma spacer that saves about 80% of the room taken up by an equivalent spacer. The seven Year 11 students were awarded $4,000 in cash and prizes. The team designed the Space Saver Spacer after remembering that fellow students didn’t take their spacers with them on a school camp because they took up too much room. The team are currently in negotiations to manufacture their invention.

Trinity College Art Exhibition – PerspectivesCoinciding with the South Australian Living Artists Festival (SALA), Trinity College celebrated the opening of the new exhibition centre The Space. The opening night was packed with interested art lovers who were impressed with the gallery and art work displayed.

Jack Condous, who opened the exhibition stated, “I believe your school, you and your staff have set a new high benchmark in building such a magnificent gallery and in showing teachers’ past and present works, as well as student works…”

Perspectives was a collection of paintings, sculpture and ceramics from Trinity College Old Scholars and art teachers.

In the third room of the gallery, commissioned paintings of past Headmasters, Chairs of the College Council and purchased Year 12 works were on display. Three Frank Turbitt seascapes completed this collection.

Attracting the best talentIn recent times STARplex has hosted some significant sporting tournaments including the National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Basketball Championships which saw the finals broadcast on FOX Sports; a 36ers pre-season game against the Cairns Taipans and the National Junior Volleyball Championships. We look forward to hosting more such elite competitions.

Stephen Rosier, Trinity College staff & Fitness Centre clientMembers since 2000, Stephen and his wife Carmel attend Pump, RPM and Combat group fitness classes, as well as a gym workout six mornings and some evenings every week! He comes to STARplex because of the engaging and inspirational staff and the quality of the facility – “a nice place to exercise in, with a motivating environment.”

Having a sedentary job, his goal is to feel “fitter, healthier, maintain my fitness as I get older – I’m not trying to get the perfect body. I enjoy classes as they offer a good range of exercise for the body, discipline and self-selected peer pressure – they make me feel good afterwards.”

Putting in the mileage!In an industry renowned for having short-term clients, we are proud that we have many clients (and staff) who have been with us since we opened in 2000.

Here’s an insight into just a few of those clients:

Mikayla (10yrs) & Tyler Zecchini (13yrs), Trinity College students & Swim Centre clientsTyler started Swim School in 2000 as a toddler, Mikayla started aged 6 months. Mum, Sascha felt that water safety and being confident around water was extremely important for her children. Both children have progressed from the Learn to Swim program through the various skill levels to where they are now Swim Squad members.

As a Gold Squad Member, training 5 times a week for around 2 hours/session plus the weekend competitions, commitment is a key part of Tyler’s life. He checks his Personal Best (PB) times before races and was really pleased to beat his 100m individual medley PB by 6secs at the recent Marion competition. He would like to get into national competition. “I like racing, being in the water, winning – it’s fun. I like coming to STARplex because the water’s always warm, my instructor is fun – and it’s convenient from school!”

Mikayla is a Bronze Squad Member training 3 times a week for around 1 hour/session – she enjoys racing as well as the friendships made. Mikayla says “my instructors help me and pay attention to me”.

Deborah Russell, Trinity College staff & Fitness Centre clientDeborah is a very important client to STARplex as she is member number one! Her long-term goal is to maintain her current level of fitness, health and wellbeing. She achieves this through attending STARplex Step and RPM classes 3 times per week (as well as bush walking). ”My job is so involved, complex and desk based; being fit helps me stay on top of it. STARplex instructors are high calibre, professional, fun and motivate me whatever my frame of mind. Friendships made with fellow class members mean that I’m not just relying on myself; everyone around you picks you up. When I exercise I want it to count, to challenge myself, so I will keep resetting my goals.”

The message is clear from our long term clients: STARplex provides a motivating, fun environment, where friendships are made and goals achieved. So if you rise to the challenge of regular attendance you too will get that same sense of achievement!

Special LaunchesThe Foundation is pleased to be supporting the Writer-in-Residence program for 2012/13. Soon to be launched is the anthology of student poetry titled ‘My Teacher is a Ballerina’ which will be on sale at Grandparents’ Day 2011 book stalls managed by the Foundation. Senior students have just released 2 new Trinity Wines with the support of multi-media students, Orlando Wines and Vinpac Labels. These wines are for sale through the Ag Farm, in limited numbers, and are a definite item for your cellar

collection. Wine labels were designed by Year 12 students Alyssa Sanders ‘Talking Point’ and Hannah Donhardt ‘Dusty Paddocks’.

Blackham was once a backyardIn November last year Patricia Pope, Great-Granddaughter of Henry Hamilton Blackham, visited our Blackham Environmental and Conservation Centre. Henry was the first settler to build on the land in about 1844 and the land stayed in the hands of the Blackham family until it was sold to Trinity in 1994. Patricia and her husband, Raymond who now live in England, were keen to see how Trinity was using the land that Patricia had enjoyed exploring so much as a child. Michael Slocombe, who runs the educational programs at Blackham, explained how we use the features of the site to help students understand and appreciate the natural environment. He showed them around and Patricia was pleased to hear that today’s children are able to benefit, as did she, from the time spent on this beautiful bush block.

Rock’n the Foundation DinnerThe Annual Foundation Dinner hosted at the Intercontinental Adelaide was a huge success and raised over $37,500. Guests were warmly greeted on arrival by our Year 11 Leaders and College Captain who escorted them to their fluorescent tables. To open the event, under the direction of Mr Bruce Raymond, Senior students performed a medley of Rock’n’Roll songs that had the audience on the dance floor shaking their bobby socks. This set the tone for the evening with much rocking and twirling to the great sounds of ‘Mack Brown 7’, the dance floor was full into the wee hours of the night.

We would like to thank all parents who generously donated items for our gourmet hampers, birthday party baskets, chocolate box, pasta packs and kitchen items that were sold during our silent auction at the Dinner. The night’s guest speaker and scholarship recipient, Blake Griffiths (Year 12), pictured above with Foundation Board member Michelle Walsh, generously donated a piece of his artwork that was auctioned from the stage and raised $1,100. He is sure to have a successful career in the Arts.

New ArrivalsMatthew McLoughlin (2002) and Vanessa McLoughlin (nee Penn 2002) welcomed Isla Elizabeth on the 23rd of May 2011.

Michael Vriens (2005) and his girlfriend Kristie-Lee Hawke had a baby boy, Loki John Michael on the 23rd April 2011.

Craig and Kate McLachlan (nee Close 2000) welcomed Margaret (Maggie) Ann on 13th of May 2011.

Stuart Mullord (1996) and Lauren Mullord welcomed their second daughter, Charlize on 7th July 2011. Sister for Addison. Stuart is a Science and PE teacher at Xavier College.

IT Staff member Angela O’Loan and her husband Alex welcomed Callan James, born 26 July 2011 weighing 3.62kg.

EngagementsRebecca Evans (2000) was engaged to Chris Hinton on 22nd July in Brisbane.

Kristina Cogan (2007) was engaged to Jesse McCarthy on 17th April 2011 in a hot air balloon over the Barossa.

Heath Commane (2003) and Maree Edwards (2004) were engaged in February 2011.

Heidi Wood (2002) Trinity College Captain 2003 was engaged to Craig Gogoll in July 2011.

Sara Cresswell (2008) recently got engaged.

Jade Carapetis-Laube (2009) and Matthew Burnett were engaged on 1st July 2011.

James Howard (1995) Trinity College Gawler River teacher was engaged to Sara Scott, also a teacher at Gawler River on July 16th 2011.

Ruselle Jelink (2001) was engaged to Clint Verhoeven.

Just MarriedAmy Slocombe (1993) married Lachlan Clarke at the Slocombe family home on April 23rd 2011.

BereavementWe recently lost one of our retired staff, Neil Grigg who passed away after a battle with cancer. Neil was South School Building Manager. Many staff and old scholars attended his funeral. The College extends deepest sympathy to his family and friends.

Libby O’Donovan (1992) performed at the Trinity College Senior Music Night in ‘The Studio’ on Thursday 11 August. Libby has performed for over ten years across Australia and around the world. Her achievements include performances in Tokyo, New York City and Canada with various jazz and cabaret acts. Libby continues to perform Australia-wide as well as fulfilling her commitments as a composer, arranger and musical director. Read more and listen to Libby’s amazing voice at www.libbyodonovan.com

Nicole Kelly (nee Baldwin 1999) married Chris in 2005 and has a 3 year old daughter Madison. Nicole is Trauma Coordinator at the Lyell McEwin Hospital and manages a nurse led Trauma Service – the only one of its kind in South Australia. She was a finalist in the Stars of CNAHS and SA Health Awards in 2009 and 2010. In October 2010 she was successfully elected to a Council Member position in the Australian Nursing & Midwifery Federation. In May 2011 she was awarded the SA Nursing & Midwifery Excellence Award for Leadership in Nursing.

NewsMandy Gevers (nee Ritter 1996) held the very successful La De Da Market in the Hewitson Theatre on Friday 5 of August. She will be holding another one on Friday 25 November from 3.30pm. Gold coin donation on entry goes to Juvenile Diabetes.

Sam O’Malley (2008) is doing the Advanced Honours Program in Software Engineering at UniSA and has recently been awarded his 4th scholarship and 2nd internship. These include: 1st Year Commencing Scholarship, 2nd & 3rd Year Continuing Scholarship and a 10 week Vacation Research Grant. He is working as a Research Assistant in the Wearable Computer Lab and in collaboration with Flinders University developing medical training equipment.

Lucas DeJong (2006) has published his first book. A fiction novel called “The Dark Before Dawn”. It is available at www.amazon.com www.exlibris.com.au.

Brad Symes (2002) who was drafted to the AFL in 2002, returned to school with his club the Adelaide Crows for a full training session.

David Benzie (1992) was the first Trinity Old Scholar to graduate from the Elder Conservatorium of Music at the University of Adelaide with a Bachelor of Music Degree. Following this he earned an Honors Degree in music education and completed a Graduate Diploma in Education and an Associate Diploma of Piano Performance.

In 2003 he moved to Hong Kong to become the Head of Performing Arts at Glenealy School.

In 2011 he accompanied a class trip to Beijing and conducted the students singing in Mandarin at the Temple of Heaven. David is currently in negotiations to perform at the Forbidden City in Beijing during 2012.

Trinity College Old Scholars Cricket ClubThe 2011/12 cricket season is fast approaching and it’s time to start preparing. The 10/11 campaign was very successful with the A grade winning their second premiership and the B grade winning their inaugural premiership. The club aims to improve again this season with the A grade moving up one division and the B grade moving up two divisions. We firmly believe that both teams will play finals and again have set high goals for the upcoming season.

The first A grade game will be held on 8th of October this year, the first weekend after the AFL grand final.

Trinity College Old Scholars Football Club Play FinalsWe are proud to announce our 2011 season results: A grade finished 4th, B grade finished 3rd and unfortunately C grade missed the finals.

TOSFC is looking for a person with a strong presence who can lead their B & C grade teams in 2012; as well as ongoing support roles including match day umpires, goal and boundary umpires, timekeepers, match day officials for all grades. Trinity College Old Scholars Hockey

A Grade Men and Women were very competitive all season and much improved.

A Grade Women reached the finals for the first time in a number of years and had their best season in quite some time.

Trinity College Old Scholars Netball Winners Golden Grove had four teams this winter season. Two teams in the C1 competition. The C1 first side won the grand final 47-21 against Golden Grove, and is lead by player coach Cendal Jaensch. The B3’s first year with the TOS Netball Club, lead by player coach Christy-Ann Smith, made it to the finals. The A3 team, lead by Ali Fechlie originally in the B1 comp – made it to the preliminary finals, the result was a disappointment but a highlight for these girls is that they are the first team within TOS Netball Club to be in the A grade competition.

Summer season will start in mid-October with four teams again. If you are interested in playing for the Trinity Old Scholars Netball Club please contact Jess Eichner 0420 908 421.

reliving the memoriesIn June this year two wonderful reunions were hosted with the Classes of 1991 and 2001. At these events much laughter was shared as alumni members recalled their school days. For the Class of 1991 a tour of the College certainly showed how much has changed since they left school 20 years ago. These reunions are made special because of the memorabilia from our archives that is put on display for such gatherings. However, the collection is limited and we ask any Old Scholar who might have old school uniforms, photographs, trophies, any Trinity College memorabilia they no longer wish to keep that they consider gifting it to the College archives.
