Trinity Times January, 2016 In this issue: Christmas Hope Recap All-church Roller Skating Party Annual Meeting and 2016 Elections A Family in Christ Loving and Serving Our World New Beginnings New Year’s marks a time of new beginnings. There seem to be so many possibilities at the start of the year. We make resolutions and usually mean to keep them. What is God calling you to in this year? What invitations is he extending to you to help you grow in your relationship with him? Positive growth and change don’t happen by accident. Rather, we need to be intentional about seeking to grow in the ways God has for us. As we start this new year, my prayer is that each of us will make a resolution to grow in relationship with the Lord this year. How that will happen will be different for each of us. But we need to take advantage of the opportunities we have been given and commit ourselves to growing in Christ. And then, as individuals and a church, we need to dedicate ourselves to sharing him with others in the ways he calls us to. Happy New Year! May 2016 be full of blessing and joy for each one of you! New Beginnings New Year’s marks a time of new beginnings. There seem to be so many possibilities at the start of the year. We make resolutions and usually mean to keep them. What is God calling you to in this year? What invitations is he extending to you to

help you grow in your relationship with him? Positive growth and change don’t happen by accident. Rather, we need to be intentional about seeking to grow in the ways God has for us. As we start this new year, my prayer is that each of us will make a resolution to grow in relationship with the Lord this year. How that will happen will be di(erent for each of us. In Christ, Pastor Peter

Inclement weather policy in e ect

An inclement weather policy has been put in e(ect for the cold weather months. Though we will make every e(ort to keep all activities running as scheduled, we also want to ensure the safety of all.

If extremely bad weather conditions (severe cold or heavy snow) necessitate cancelling activities, an announcement will be made via the web page (tbcmn.org), Facebook (facebook.com/tbcmn), the phone prayer chain and the email prayer chain. An announcement will also be made on the outgoing phone message on the main church phone number (dial 651-774-8609, press “0” for the Receptionist to listen to the message). This is primarily for all-church events; for individual committee meetings and smaller events, cancellations will be determined by the group leader. A decision about cancelling Sunday morning activities (either in part or complete cancellation) due to cold weather will be made no later than 8:30 pm, on Saturday night. Decisions based on snowfall will be made no later than 7:00 am. A Wednesday evening closing decision will be made no later than 1:00 pm.

Christmas Hope - A Joyous night a Trinity

On December 16, for the third year, Trinity served as a distribution center for the Marine Corps' annual Toys for Tots drive. As the evening began, there were 358 families registered that included approximately 1,000 children. Enthusiasm on the part of recipients and volunteers was tremendous, unhampered by the inclement weather.

Guests signed in and then had the opportunity to select, with a volunteer personal shopper, age-appropriate gifts for their children rather than being handed pre-selected toys. Also distributed were Bibles, books, hats, gloves, mittens and a variety of personal care items all from Trinity. There were crafts, video and play time for children and a pasta dinner in the Social Hall (dessert was Christmas cookies). Pianist Chuck Erickson and the Handbell Choir provided Christmas music to add to the festive atmosphere. Pastor Peter Vogt said in a recent sermon that this gathering might be the only time some of the guests would experience the love of Christ during the Christmas season.

Also in attendance were mayors Nora Slavik of Maplewood and Dan Roe of Roseville. A reporter and a photographer from the Lillie Suburban Newspapers covered the event for their publications.

The Planning Committee, chaired by Cami Vogt, included Kathy Erickson, Ross Rud, Wendy Vlasich and Amy Weigel. Team Coordinators were Kip Bloomer, Marilyn Lindman, Ross Rud, Tracy Rud, Kay Skoog, Wendy Vlasich, Amy Weigel and Jane Weigel. And a special thanks to sta( members Mindy Boe, David Seward, Christine Carlson, Joe Stodola, Koby Radcli(e and Pastor Peter Vogt. We thank them all for their tremendous organizational e(orts - what a spectacular job they did. In addition, there were many, many volunteers - Trinityites and their relatives and friends, community businesses who not only donated funds but sent personnel, students from neighboring school districts and community members who appeared on Wednesday evening and inquired as to how they might help. Ordinarily, we list all volunteers but the number was so great that we do not have an accurate list.

Thank you many times over to all who participated - your work was most appreciated. The evening was a stellar example of Trinity loving and serving our community.
