With one more day to go, here is the final newsletter of this academic year!

Another successful year that has seen us receive a good grading from OFSTED, win the Felixstowe Swimming Gala and compete against the top teams in Suffolk, increase our pupils numbers further and achieve another set of strong results. We even found time for the Trimley Vision Song Contest.

Hopefully, you enjoyed reading about your child’s successful year in the school reports and have returned your comment slips back to the class teachers.

Good luck to the Year 6 leavers… we will miss you! As a year group they have been amazing and have worked so hard this year. We are very proud of you!

Thank you to everyone in the school community for continuing to support the school. It is very much appreciated.

Finally, I would like to thank my dedicated staff for their hard work this year. I think everyone deserves a relaxing summer holiday.

Calendar

Trimley St Martin Primary School

School starts again on Thursday 3rd

September 2015. On this day only –

gates will open at 8:45am children will remain in the playground with

parents all staff will be in the playground from

8:45am bell will ring at 9:00am all children will line up in class lines all children will be escorted into the building

by the class teacher -Parents will say good bye to children in the line and will not follow the children in to the building. -Children at breakfast club will be sent out into the playground at 8:45am and line up with their teachers.

Arrangements for first day in September

From Friday 4th September onwards – gates will open at 8:45am children can be dropped off at the gate or brought to the KS1 doors

(reception class) no parents will be allowed to enter the school building. messages can be passed to the adult who opens the gate or Mrs

Rushbrooke at the KS1 door (reception class only) gates will lock at 9am prompt. children arriving after this time will need to enter the building via

the front office.

Arrangements for second day onwards

As with previous years, there is no official homework for the Summer Holidays. In my opinion, I want children to be out and about, socialising with other children, visiting family, going to the beach, playing over the rec and learning in a different way. If we were to send home reading books we would need at least 6 for some pupils and, from experience, these don’t always come back to school (left on a rollercoaster in Florida, or coloured in by younger brother) and the school cannot afford to replace them. If, however, there are some children who want to do some non-compulsory school work there are some options listed below. (1) ‘My Best Six Days – Summer Holiday Diary’ (2) Photo diary of their holiday (3) Bug Club – Bug Club books will be allocated over the Summer. (4) Oxford Owl – interactive Oxford Reading Tree books (which works on I-pad and

other tablets) – See login details below. (5) Summer Reading Challenge (Suffolk Libraries) – Highly recommended. Visit

your local library to sign up! www.summerreadingchallenge.org.uk

Summer Holiday Homework

What’s Happening At TSM?

Check out the class blogs for

more up-to-date information

about your child’s class!

Please remember that the bay outside the school gate should be kept clear for Blue Badge Holders.

We will be carrying out regular checks and armed with leaflets constructed by the

pupils of this school to warn drivers about the bay and 3 point turning!

Please make sure you refer to the school uniform policy before buying school uniform for your child.

From September, the school will have spare uniform for children who arrive at school with incorrect uniform. We accept that at this point in the year, you are unlikely to replace shoes etc. We also accept that on some occasions a child may have to arrive at school wearing a slight variation of the schools uniform. This needs to be explained to the adult on the gate and the variation needs to be resolved as soon as possible.

ASDA, Tesco, Marks & Spencer all sell trousers / skirts at very reasonable prices and they do sell ‘grey’. The school uniform policy clearly states that trousers should be grey and not black. Thank you.

Uniform

New class names have been introduced for September. Ellen MacAthur, Abraham Lincoln, Richard Branson, Ellie Simmonds, Ed Sheeran added to Shirley Hughes and Nelson Mandela. The class names were introduced 2 years ago and the famous people chosen link directly to specific values that we are trying to teach the children throughout their journey through school. The swaps have been for characters with similar values e.g Florence Nightingale CARING, COMPASSIONATE and PATIENT can be applied to Abraham Lincoln who abolished slavery in the USA.

3 point turns (Back Road) New Classes 2015

We have received a letter from Kirton and Falkenham Parish Council asking that parents from the school refrain from executing u-turns at the Trimley Road / Back Road crossroads, following complaints made directly to them. They feel that it is a dangerous manoeuvre especially for vehicles attempting to exit Back Road; as it severely restricts visibility.

The council have asked for parents to avoid this practice, or at the very least exercise the greatest care and consideration for other motorists.

The current Year 6 only have one day left in the school before moving on to Secondary School. All of the of ground work has been done and these children are ready to progress and move on and be even more successful! As always, at tomorrows Leavers Assembly, there will be tears! They will miss us and we will miss them, but after a couple of days at Secondary School they’ll realise that they were ready for a new, fresh start! I have told them that in a couple of years time, when I’m buying ear plugs in Boots Chemist in town, I want them to tap me on the shoulder and tell me how successful they are doing and how hard they are working. Then I will know that our job here has been truly successful!

Goodbye Year 6

and Good luck… From Mr Stock & all of the staff at Trimley St Martin.

Goodbye and Good luck to Year 6
