PipeDesigner 3D® Manufacturer DatabasesTrimble has agreements with several manufacturers to provide you with data specific totheir fittings. These databases are available on the Trimble MEP website.
You can easily add this data to your master PipeDesigner 3D database using the QuickMerge Utility.
The manufacturers databases are available in the SQL Server backup format, making itsimple to add more pipe/fittings to your database.
The database file names describe each database accurately, making it simple todetermine which one you want to merge.

QuickMerge
This QuickMerge utility allows you to merge data into the PipeDesigner 3Dsoftware database from other sources. The source must be in the proper format inorder to process a merge. You can also use QuickMerge to export data, that canthen be merged into another PipeDesigner 3D software database.
Quick Steps: PipeDesigner 3D Data Editor / Tools / QuickMerge

Definitions
The following definitions are used in the instructions below.
Source DatabaseThis database contains the data you want to merge into the Target database.
Target DatabaseThis is the database you will be merging the source database into.
Navigation
QuickMerge is set up as a wizard. Each screen allows you to define and/or select theappropriate information required. There are common buttons in the QuickMerge wizardscreens that allow you to easily navigate the wizard.
Advances to the screen directly following the one you are on. Youmust complete all required information on the current screen beforeyou can go to the next screen
Directly below the window label, you can click to return to theprevious screen(s).

Information
Before you begin the merge process, review the general information below.
The data available for merge is based on the information included in the sourcedatabase.
The QuickMerge procedure allows you to "pick and choose" the data you want mergedfrom the source into the target database.
If you did not merge all data in the initial procedure, you can merge additional datafrom the source into the target immediately after the initial merge is complete.
You can merge additional data into your target database or overwrite existing data.
Caution - Use caution when using the overwrite option. This procedure actuallydeletes matching items that are in both the source and target database. Those itemsare then recreated in the target database from the source. It is possible to lose datafrom your target when using this option.
QuickMerge will add new items and folders; however, new item detail will not bemerged into and existing item unless you use the overwrite option.

Manufacturer Database Guidance
This topic provides helpful information to assist you in merging in data from the TrimbleManufacturer databases available on our website.
Source Database
The Source Database is the Manufacturers Database that you want to merge into thePipeDesigner 3D software. These databases are provided in an SQLite format so they canbe merged easily simply by selecting the DB file in the Database Type field. A password isnot required.
The graphic below illustrates how your screen might display. Note: The Database fileinformation is dependant on the location and file you are merging.
Target Database
The Target Database is where you want to add the Manufacturer data. Typically, this willbe your master PipeDesigner 3D database, but you may have setup other databases. Makesure you know where you want this data stored prior to selecting a target database.
The graphic below illustrates how your screen might display. Note: The WindowsAuthentication and Database information is dependant on your system and where you wantto add the data.
![Page 16: Trimble PipeDesigner 3D® Software...locally with the PipeDesigner 3D software. Selections for Merge
Selecting options in the Perform the QuickMerge screen defines how the Manufacturersdata will be merged into the PipeDesigner 3D software. The following settings willgenerally be used when merging in this data:
Include All Items
For piping items that already exist
For all other items that already exist
Export/New Database
Caution - Exporting or Creating a new database is not typically used when merging inManufacturers Databases. If you choose to use this option, your resulting database willinclude only the data from the Manufacturer based on the database file you have selected. No other PipeDesigner 3D software data will be included.

Exports/New Database
The QuickMerge utility allows you the flexibility to create a new source database withspecific information you can then provide to another individual. This procedure also workswell if you have created data in a stand-alone of the PipeDesigner 3D software (or offsite)and want to add it to your master database.
The procedures are similar to merging data into a target database; however, to properly create the new source, this topic contains instructions specifically related to creating anew database.
Create New Source Database
Tip - If you are merging in the Trimble Manufacturer Databases, see the ManufacturerDatabases Guidance topic for some helpful hints.
1. In the QuickMerge To Database information screen, complete the following fields:
Database TypeClick and select the Database Type based on the format you are currentlymerging into. QuickMerge supports the following formats: Microsoft SQL Server,SQLite, and VistaDB.
Tip - When using a Microsoft SQL Server format for your new source database, you must
back up the newly created source file before providing it to another. Before QuickMerge canbe performed, the backed up file must be restored. See Backup Utility and Restore Utilitytopics for instructions.
For Microsoft SQL Server formats only
Server NameClick . This will automatically select the Microsoft SQL Server installed locallywith the PipeDesigner 3D software.
