On 22nd November Saaol's center in Raipur, the capital of Chattisgarh was inaugurated by Dr.Chhajer. With this Saaol has added one more state in its list. The inauguration was followed by a talk by Dr.Chhajer to the people of Raipur which was well attended. On 16th D e c e m b e r , 2 0 1 3 D r. C h h a j e r w i l l inaugurate one more center in Gawahati, the capital of Assam. In the next few months we shall open one more center in Bhubneshwar, Capital of Odissa and one center in Nagpur, Maharastra.

To tell you the truth Saaol has the best combination of all therapies that a heart patient may wish to undergo to avoid heart attack. It has Lifestyle intervention, allopathic medicines, highly scientific ECP (natural Bypass) and a very promising Bio Chemical Angioplasty. Now we have more than 60,000 patients spread all over India and abroad who have avoided Bypass surgery,

When I started doing camps for my patients on reversal of heart disease I used to do a three days training. I used to cover everything that I knew so that nothing was left to chance. My patients would know how all the chambers of the heart work; how to analyze ECG; principles of TMT; mechanism of actions of cardiac drugs; all about carbohydrates, proteins, fats; how to count calories of every food; how many calories in breakfast, lunch or dinner; details of human behaviour; what are the effects of stress on every organ of the body; how to handle difficult people and so on. Even three days were short for me.

The public demand was to “shorten down camps as three days was too much”. Then I tried to simplify things. I tried to analyse what are the topics that I can cut down without compromising my demands from the patients. I wanted them safe, they should not get a heart attack. They must know what I want from them and how to make it happen. This led to shortening of the camps to two days and then to one day. This was possible as I gradually learnt “the art of simplifying knowledge”. Now my one day camps are more than sufficient for the patients to adhere to Saaol rules and regulations.

My greatest satisfaction was when I brought out the Saaol Safety Circle. It tells my patients what I want from them in one page. This would also tell them

two things - how to prevent and how to reverse heart disease. This also cautions them about what can lead to a heart attack. And there is no compromise! And anyone could understand the circle. This was our full proof advice for preventing heart attack.

But public demand for further simplification continues. My patients ask me during my consultations “Sir, tell me what I should do in two minutes”. Even in public functions people ask me “Doctor, tell what you advice to your patients in a minute so that they don't get heart attacks? How it is so that your large number of patients remain healthy even after ten fifteen years. ” I was thinking about the answer for a long time.

Now the answer is ready. All you need to remember are few numbers. Cholesterol 129, Triglycerides 99, Blood pressure 120/80, blood sugar 100-140 (fasting and PP), Weight: BMI 24; Stress 50%, walk 35 minutes, Yoga and meditation: 30 minutes, Oil intake, tobacco, alcohol : 0 (zero), and Fruits and Vegetable 100%. So, the numbers are: 129; 99; 120/80; 100-140; 24; 50; 35; 30; 0 ; 100. Ten numbers in all ! This is kind of numbers I once saw my tailor used to write when he measured the dimensions for making a shirt and pant for me long time ago.

My name is Santosh Singh (72 years of age) S/o. Shri Maan Mal Chorida. A year back I had a severe chest pain and breathing difficulty. The chest pain radiated to the right hand. In the current time period, change in lifestyle has brought about a great impact on the health of the population across the world giving rise to lifestyle diseases that are causing maximum number of deaths as people have moved from physically active to sedentary lifestyle. Poor and unhealthy eating practices have increased the lifestyle diseases manifold, which include diseases like diabetes, obesity, heart disease etc. These diseases can be avoided if all of us know our numbers.

The first and foremost thing that comes to our mind is what numbers. To keep ourselves healthy there are few numbers that has to be kept in mind and has to be m a i n t a i n e d , t h e s e i n c l u d e : Cholesterol 129, Triglyceride 99, Blood sugar 100-140, Blood pressure 120/80, BMI 24, Stress 50, Yoga & Meditation 30 and Walk 35, Oil intake, Alcohol & Tobacco 0 Family & Vegetable 100%. Remember these numbers and stay healthy.

CHOLESTEROL

Cholesterol 129: The normal range of cholesterol is 130-200mg/dl but at SAAOL's normal range is 130mg/dl. The sterol for the animal kingdom is cholesterol. Liver also produces cholesterol required by the body. Cholesterol is present in the food of animal origin like flesh food (fish, meat, chicken, turkey, crabs etc.), milk and their products (butter,

desi ghee, curd, paneer, cheese etc.). The cholesterol content varies from item to item but their content is quite high. The cholesterol requirement of the body can be easily fulfilled by the cholesterol produced by the liver. Cholesterol is one of the culprits that causes blockages in the artery and leads to heart disease and also the death of an individual. Every bit of cholesterol that we eat add up to the main pool leading to their high levels in blood, which in turn slowly and gradually gets deposited on the walls of the arteries and forms the

blockages. SAAOL recommends the value of cholesterol to be 129mg/dl in lipid profile to be on the safer side as SAAOL says its better to be on the lower side of the normal range. If you remain on very close to the upper limit of the normal range there will be more chances for you to grow the blockage and enter the danger zone. So, we expect your cholesterol number should be 129.

glycerides come from glycerol, hence the named. Triglycerides are blood lipids that help enable the transportation of fat present under the skin and blood glucose from the liver. Triglycerides are oils that we generally use at home for cooking like saffola, sundorp etc. These are of vegetarian origin but are equally harmful for heart's health. There are many triglycerides depending on the oil source, some are highly unsaturated, few are less unsaturated while some are saturated. Oils

containing saturated fats are solid at room temperature and those which contain unsaturated fats are liquid at room temperature. Examples of saturated fats are ghee, butter, vanaspati, coconut oil etc. Examples of unsa tura ted fa ts inc lude commonly used cooking oils at home like vegetable oil, mustard oil, olive oil, sunflower oil etc. Triglycerides are also responsible for the formation of blockages in the arteries as they get deposited on the walls of the arteries. These are calorie dense so

their consumption leads to weight gain. Oil is a cooking medium generally used to make food more palatable and to prolong shelf-life. The water content gets replaced by the oil, though the fried chips look dry. The oil makes the food energy dense. This leads to more calorie intake which in turn helps in gaining weight and also aids in the formation of blockages. SAAOL recommends the Triglyceride in your lipid profile to be 99 to be on the safer side. To maintain a lower level of triglyceride one has to completely eliminate cooking oil (visible fats) from their diet (use zero oil cooking method), as fats are also naturally present in every food that we eat also known as invisible fats these fats are enough in quantity to fulfill the daily requirement of fat. Therefore your Triglyceride number should be 99 and Oil intake 0.

BLOOD PRESSURE

Normal blood pressure is 120/80mmHg. Blood pressure above and below this range are harmful. But high blood pressure is very common. To improve this condition proper balanced diet with fruit juices are advised. High blood pressure can be due modifiable as well as non-modifiable factors. Modifiable factors are related to lifestyle which i n c l u d e o b e s i t y , a l c o h o l consumption, physical inactivity, increased fat intake, increased salt intake, smoking, psychological stress etc and non- modifiable factors include age and genetic factor. High

blood pressure can cause heart disease, kidney, eye disease, brain strokes etc. So, to maintain an optimum blood pressure there are few factors that should be under observation. High blood pressure may be salt sensitive or salt insensitive. In both the cases there should be a salt restriction. Diet also plays an important role to control the blood pressure as high sodium content in the food may help to further increase in the blood pressure so high sodium content food should be avoided like green leafy vegetables. Other than this bakery products, canned food, pickles, tea, coffee, fried food and flesh food should also be avoided. Stress and obesity are also responsible for high blood pressure so these two factors have to be controlled and a proper sound sleep is also equally necessary. Therefore your blood pressure number is 120/80.

BLOOD SUGAR

Blood sugar 100-140: Blood sugar is the glucose present in the blood that is used for instant energy

for the bodies various functions. It should be 100-140mg/100ml of blood(Fasting & PP). This glucose level is controlled by a hormone ca l led insu l in p roduced by specialized cell of pancreas called the " islets of langerhans".

When we eat food the glucose level in the blood increases so the pancreas makes more insulin to maintain the normal level and when the glucose level is low the pancreas reduce the release of insulin. In diabetes the production of insulin is lowered which leads in the increase of blood glucose level. The reasons of lower production may be due to genes acquired by their parents or due to the erratic lifestyle in which there is a high intake of high calorie food, lack of exercise, physical inactivity, obesity, stress and some pollutants may also play a part in occurrence of diabetes. So, in order to maintain the normal glucose level there are certain factors that can be taken care off. As far as possible one has to control the level of stress which can be done by practicing yoga or meditation. Those persons who are

already diabetic should make changes in their eating habits as they need to avoid fried and junk foods, soft and hard drinks, fruit juices, fruits like mango, banana, grapes, dates, litchi etc., bakery products, refined cereals like maida and their products, fats etc. To control the sugar level it is very important to include high fiber food like whole grains, salads and vegetables in other words take 100% of vegetables and fruits. Proper physical activity like practicing yoga and taking a walk also helps to control the blood sugar level. Therefore SAAOL number for Blood sugar is 100-140.

BMI

BMI stands for Body Mass Index and is the latest scientific way to measure weight. BMI-24: BMI is calculated as weight in kg/height in meter². You can calculate this if you know your weight in kg and height in meter. The normal range of is 18.5-24.9. Your BMI should not be more than 24 as increase in BMI indicates obesity which leads to lifestyle diseases like diabetes and heart disease. To maintain your BMI to 24 one has to keep in mind the food they eat. Most of the adults in present day lead a sedentary lifestyle where the calorie requirement is about 1600 Kcal but knowingly or unknowingly they eat more calories than required, so one has to keep a watch on what they eat. The erratic eating habits and very low physical activity aids to these problems. Once weight increases to a life threatening level

the awareness erupts and rush to shed the extra kilos starts and people want it to be done by hook or crook. At SAAOL we do not allow any oil or animal food except skimmed milk (500ml) and products made of it. And to reduce weight this is an excellent way as it is neither harmful nor very difficult to follow. Apart from this cereals and starchy foods can be avoided to reduce weight. For a healthy weight loss high fiber is equally important as they help to reduce blood lipids also. High fiber is present in fruits and vegetables. These are low calorie foods, therefore helps in weight reduction. Use of these food helps in weight loss and no deficiency also occurs as the diet is wholesome and balanced. So, if a person can follow these instructions for their eating habits they can easily maintain their weight and BMI of 24. Therefore your BMI number should be 24 .

STRESS, YOGA & EXERCISE

is important to reduce it to 50% which can be done by practicing yoga and meditation for 30 minutes daily and by also taking interest in your family members and surrounding and try to be happy by changing one's mindset, analysis and also by practicing spirituality. To maintain all the above mentioned numbers walk for 35 minutes is very important as it helps in reducing weight that controls the BMI in turn blood sugar, cholesterol and triglyceride level. Therefore your stress number is 50, yoga & meditation 30 and walk 35.

ALCOHOL AND TOBACCO

Alcohol if taken will increase the triglyceride level in blood,

causing blockages and narrowing of the arteries, leading to hypertension. S m o k i n g d e f i n i t e l y c a u s e s hype r t ens ion . Smoking and hypertension usually co-exist. It is seen that people who smoke generally have high blood pressure. Smoking also aids in building up of blockages in the arteries as due to deposition of nicotine and other toxic chemicals on the wall of the arteries, they become sticky which helps the fat deposition on the walls. During condition of stress people tend to consume more alcohol and tobacco. SAAOL advises nil consumption of alcohol and tobacco. Therefore your alcohol and tobacco number is 0.

FRUITS & VEGETABLES

Fruits & Vegetables 100. The fruits and vegetable are low calorie food but they are full of minerals, vitamins (like vitamin B, C etc), antioxidants and fiber that helps to maintain the proper functioning of the body. So, fruits & vegetables should be taken in large quantity that is 100%.

Many of our heart patients suffer from Cervical Spondylosis which leads to shoulder pain, neck pain, numbness in the arms, giddiness. This disease is an aging problem and the best treatment is Yoga based exercises. Saaol has now recorded a DVD which shows all the possible exercises that one can do to cure/take care this chronic problem. This DVD can be obtained by the Saaol members from any Delhi office or any other centers from 1st January 2014. This will be our new year gift to all our Saaol family members.
