Childrens Ministry
Mark Twain wrote, I can live for two months on a good compliment.
This is also true of our children. The more I encourage my kids, the more motivated, confidentand even selfless they become. Encouragement can inspire them to do whats right, work hardand seek to grow in their walk with Christ.
Yet how many parents spend more time correcting and criticizing kids than encouraging them?I know Im guilty of this far too often.
If you struggle with verbally encouraging your kids, LifeWay Publishers offers a list of wordsthat parents can use to encourage their children. Most of these phrases can apply to kids of avariety of ages and for a range of situations. Here are the top 10!
1. I believe in you.
2. Thanks so much for the way you handled that situation.3. Even though it didnt work out this time, you tried and th
ats what matters.
4. I really appreciate the way you did that.
5. I like spending time with you.
6. Youre a really cool person.
7. You did a great job putting your toys away.
8. You have a beautiful smile.
9. I love to hear you laugh (or sing or tell a story).
10. Im so thankful God chose to give you to us.

Date/time: Saturday,July 27,3:30-5:00 p.m., East Hall (childcareprovided by reservation)
Led by Nick Stavlund
Questions to cover: Is there a
conflict between Genesis 2 andscientific accounts of humanorigins? How should we readGenesis 2? What should ourattitudes be towards science ingeneral?
Summary: This class is part of Nick's doctoral program inScience and Theology through Pittsburgh Theological
Seminary. At the beginning of the class, every participantwill take a short, anonymous survey of their attitudes, beliefs, and understanding of Genesis 2 and itsrelationship to science. At the end, every participant willtake another short, anonymous survey to see if attitudeshave changed. In between the two surveys, we'll havesome fun and learn a bunch of stuff about our ancestorsand Scripture.
