Fixt koordinatsystem

Evaluating the two boundary conditions results in the following two equations:

0 = −ΔpR

4µL+C2
µln R + C3 (S3.3.5a)

0 = −ΔpεR

4µL+C2

Solving yields the following values for C2 and C3:

C2 = −ΔpR

C3 =ΔpR

Note, that as ε goes to zero, the velocity profile approaches the parabolic profile for laminar flow in a
cylinder. The velocity profile is shown below for values of ε = 0.01, 0.1, 0.5. For all values of ε,
there is a significant distortion of the velocity profile due to the presence of the catheter.
To find the volumetric flow rate, compute the average velocity in the fluid between r and R and
compare to the value obtained in the absence of the catheter. The average velocity is:

Seminar 2. S2.1 Vector calculation
Prove the following vector relation:
∇ ∙ !!! = !! ∙ ∇!+ !∇ ∙ (!!)
S2.2 Constitutive models for fluids
In order to determine of the material properties, the following experiment is performed for three different fluids. Two parallel plates are separated by a thin gap of thickness H containing an unknown fluid. A known shear stress !!is applied to the upper plate, and the steady-state velocity of the plate is !!. Next the experiment is repeated for the same fluid but the shear stress is first doubled and finally increased by a factor four. For each case, the velocity V is determined as listed below. For each case, determine whether the velocities describe a Newtonian fluid, a Bingham plastic or a power law fluid. If the fluid is a Bingham plastic, determine the yield stress !!in the terms of !!. If the fluid is a power law fluid, determine the value of n.

S2.3 Catheter in a blood vessel
Catheters that are placed in arteries and veins will alter the flow through the vessel. Consider a catheter of radius εR that is placed in a blood vessel of radius R. Assume that the catheter is placed concentric in the vessel and determine the reduction in flow rate relative to a vessel of the same radius without a catheter. Assume steady flow and assume that the pressure drop is the same with and without the catheter. Treat the blood as a Newtonian fluid.
Derive how the catheter influences the flow!

99.1% in venous. Note: almost all oxygen is transported as bounded to the hemoglobin in the erythrocytes!
S1.2 O2: 5.58 cm3 per 100 cm3 ; CO2: 2.18 cm3 per 100 cm3. Note: the exchange (in volume) of oxygen is bigger than the exchange of carbon dioxide!
