Transnational collaboration call supportingDigital Transformation in SMEs

SMART-SPACE is an Interreg Alpine space funded project aiming at fostering digitalization processes in Alpine Space SMEs thus

tackling economic, social and environmental challenges in Alpine Space SMEs and societies. The goal of the SMART-SPACE project

is to promote an innovative environment in the processes of Smart factories, Industry 4.0, and digitalization as well as to stimulate

introduction of these processes. The most important part of SMART-SPACE is to implement and test developed approaches in real

life environments stimulating digitalization processes and transnational approaches.

The main purpose of the pilot activities related to the introduction of digital transformation is using the developed toolset to

support digitalization processes and promote the knowledge on specific digital matters (IoT, Clouds, Big Data, Robotics, 3D

Printing, etc), with the focus on overall change in business models, processes, productivity, logistics and improved customer

relationship in companies.

Thus, this transnational call is aimed at involving a large pool of experts interested in fostering collaboration to support

digitalization processes in SMEs in all involved regions. The experts will benefit from mentoring and collaboration opportunities

with the Alpine space SMEs based also on available partners’ renumeration capabilities.

Please send your applications by 1.4.2019 at the latest but as early as possible, in order to be involved from the very

start. Please note that the call is restricted to Alpine space and Baden-Württemberg region and that the preference is

given to the institutions with an academic focus.

Industry 4.0 International Days 2019 - Global Industrie

Smart Space invites you to join the Industry 4.0 International Days 2019 and take part to the brokerage event, that is already

open for registration.

Global Industrie is the only fair that covers the whole of industry and enables you to discover your partners and all the solutions,

technologies, services and know-how you need for the industry of today and tomorrow. It brings together 4 major shows leader in

their respective field. 2 250 exhibitors and 45 000 visitors are expected. Several activites will take place: conferences, business

meetings, a connected factory, awards, international delegations...

On 6th March, you can join to the conference that will be addressed to discuss virtual reality, additive manufacturing, artificial

intelligence, big data, IoT and how these technologies affect business models, internal organisation and human resources

management. During the conference, regional/international companies and experts will share information and good practices that

have emerged in industrial companies all over the world, from a technological, economical and human point of view.

About 12 companies, SMEs, intermediate-sized enterprise, and international companies such as Siemens, Staübli, Gravotech and

Geprom, will share their experience with the participants and dicuss about :

• the importance of rethinking business strategies and business models impacted by these new technologies,

• the need to train employees in these new technologies,

• and the need to recruit new competences and profiles (e.g.: data scientists…)

Note: Industry 4.0 International days 2019 take place within Global Industrie. To access the event, interested participants have to

register for the fair Global Industrie as well.

Participation in the Industry 4.0 International Days 2019 and Global Industries is free of charge, but registration is mandatory.



A&T Fair: Industry 4.0, Testing and Measurements,Robotics, Innovative Technologies

Smart Space will be present at the A&T Event in Torino on 13th-15th February 2019.

The EXPO includes 20,000 square meters of exhibition hall, thousands of innovative technologies, solutions, events, case studies

and influential experts made available to visitors. Two maxi screens are dedicated to the most completed Conferencing Program

for Industry 4.0 organized in collaboration with authoritative partners.

The visitor can get in touch with various start-ups that will present innovative products and services.

The Formative path will take place within the four Competence point, located inside the pavilion to complete the

specialist exhibition, each focused on a specific theme: Design and product development, Production, Reliability, Integrated

logistics. SMART SPACE project will be

presented on 14th February at 15.50. by CSP - Innovazione nelle ICT.



Operator Training Course in Austria

Trainings for Intermediaries in Vienna

A very important part of the SMART SPACE project are the training activities for intermediary organizations organized by the

consortium. The main goal is to enable intermediaries to assist SMEs with their digitalisation processes as efficiently as possible.

Therefore, employees of intermediary organizations were invited to join workshops at aws in Vienna, that focused on specific

topics linked to digitalisation such as new business models in industry 4.0, digital transformation, and agile project management

methods. Moreover, the participants had the opportunity to visit an exhibition at the Vienna Technical Museum, that focused on

new methods of production and work.

Strengthening the competencies and

promoting cross-fertilization actions to

intermediary organizations is one of the

key goals within in the Smart Space

project. Providing knowledge and skills

to support traditional and digital clusters

as well as promoting better cooperation

and knowledge exchange among them is

paramount.

The workshop organized by ITG

Salzburg, which involved

representatives from 6 Austrian and

Bavarian intermediary organizations,

focused on the possibilities to improve



efficiency, problem solving and the

achievement of specific goals through

dedicated change processes within a

company.

The workshop started with a general

overview of change and process

management. In a later step, by actively

participating in various exercises during

the workshops, the intermediaries were

made aware of the effects that change-

and process management can exert on

SMEs and their performance. An

understanding of how important it is to

facilitate, direct, and shape change

processes within a company as well as

their implications could be developed

and reinforced.
