• Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) is terrestrial mode of delivery of digitalized TV channels.

• Each DTT transmitter to relay 8-10 channels against 1 channel presently being relayed by the analog transmitter.

• In Prasar Bharati, after the experimental service of DTT, now it has been planned to establish 630 DTT transmitters. These will replace 1415 analog transmitters.

• Doordarshan adopted DVB-2/MPEG-4 standard for DTT Network.

• In the 11th Plan, establishment of 40 DTT transmitters in Metro and other major cities taken up.
