MJE NEWS

PMP CERTIFICATIONS

Project Management Professional (PMP)is a credential offered by the ProjectManagement Institute (PMI). Becoming a PMP is highly esteemed in the constructionindustry.

MJE has twelve PMPs on staff. Employeeswho hold the PMP Certifi cation are NathanRaiche, Bill Nagy, Marty Sutinen, TomGreene, Nick Feira, Casey Kimma, and Mike Constantini and recently joining the ranks of our ever-growing, highly-skilled PMP’s are Rachel Holtz, Chris Uhl, Greg Rogers, Matua Mendiola, and Travis Moore. Congratulations! MJE is proud to have quality staff to continue to set the standardagainst which all others are measured.

THE HEART OF MJE

Did you know that MJE donates thousands of dollars to worthy causes each year? At MJE, we understand we’ve been given much and sharing with others is the best way to show our thankfulness.

A few highlights from 2014 thus far include the JeanMarie Ryan Center Misericordia Home. This home provides a network of services and a continuum of care for more than 600 children and adults with mild to profound developmental disabilities. Another is the 2014 Heart Ball for the American Heart Association. The American Heart Association has a life-saving mission of building healthier lives. MJE has alsodonated to Pirates4Kids.org. This is a benevolent organization of men and women who have joinedtogether to share their good fortune with the specialneeds children of Northwest Indiana.

RELAY FOR LIFE MJE TEAM

Each year MJE forms an American Cancer Society (ACS) Relay for Life (RFL) team for the purpose of raising money for cancer research. The 2013 RFL team raised over $19,000 through a variety of creative fundraisers and selling luminary bags. Luminary bags are $10; the buyer decorates the bag IN HONORor IN MEMORY of a loved one who has battled cancer. At the RFL event, a candle is placed in each

bag and lights the path around the track where the RFL walkers participate.

The 2014 team kicked off their fundraising efforts by hosting anMJE Cafe where they raised $650, followed by a Soup & SaladLuncheon that raised just over $900. Their upcoming events include an Italian Luncheon and a Cookout at the Iron MountainMJE location.

For additional information about joining the MJE team, contact Stacy Bottesi or Dayna Nault. To learn more about the ACS RFL, go online to www.relayforlife.orgy g.

The Headwaters Wind Farm is a 200 MW generation facility located in Randolph County, Indiana. HeadwatersWind Farm will consist of one hundred 2.0 MW Vestas V100Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs), located between Winchester and Lynn, Indiana. MJE will furnish and install a 35 kV collectionsystem between the turbines and the substation. MJE’s work willalso include foundation conduit and grounding and tower wiring for the WTG’s. Work is scheduled to begin April 1st.

Beebe 1B Wind Project: In 2012 MJE designed and built the Beebe1A Wind Farm. Now in 2014, MJE is providing procurement andconstruction services for the 50 MW Beebe 1B Wind Project located in Gratiot County, Michigan. During this project MJE will expand the Beebe 1A substation and add twenty-one Nordex N117 2.4 MWWTGs to the existing thirty-four currently running in the Beebe 1A Wind Farm. Project completion planned for late 2014.

Four Mile Ridge Wind Energy Project: MJE is responsible for turnkey engineering, project management, construction, testing, and commissioning services for the 40 MW Four Mile Ridge Wind Energy Project located near Frostburg, Maryland. The Four

Mile Ridge facility consists of 16 Nordex N100/2500 turbines, a collection system, and a 60 MVA collector substation. MJE is alsoconstructing the adjacent 138 kV interconnect substation with a transmission line tap and slack spans.

Owens Lake Project: A century after its aqueduct drained watersfrom Eastern Sierra, Los Angeles has spent billions to dampen the blowing dust. Now after the largest dust control project in history, the city is proposing to spend up to $1 billion more in a quest for a permanent fi x. MJE was selected by Barnard Construction toperform the underground installation of the drainage line for part of the Owens Lake Project. The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power will unveil a proposal to install new wildlife habitats, public viewing areas, and other measures designed to replace the fl ooding of Owens Lake the agency has used for the last dozenyears to control blowing, toxic dust. The Owens Lake Master Project, to be unveiled both in Inyo County and Los Angeles, isdesigned to also provide a long-term resolution to dust problems at the lake and remove the regulatory uncertainty that now plaguesthe area.

AWEA CONFERENCE & EXHIBITION

The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) is hosting their 40th annual conference and exhibition May 5-8 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.Last year’s event drew over 600 exhibitors and 10,000 worldwide participants. URBANA - WALKER REBUILD

The Urbana - Walker Rebuild project is complete. This ITC job was located in Benton County and runsapproximately 10 miles west to the newly rebuilt Walker REC - Troy Mills project. The upgraded line was built to69 kV specifi cations and a T-2 4/0 ACSR conductor with3/8” EHS. Although cold weather presented challenges, crews pushed through and stayed on schedule. Therebuild was complete March 14th.

VINTON - SHELLSBURG 69 kV

The Vinton - Shellsburg 69 kV rebuilds approximately 12 miles of existing 34.5 kV to 69 kV standards. Theproject starts at the Vinton Substation and runs east toStructure 98 where the rebuilt line will tie in with theexisting 69 kV line in Shellsburg. The conductor will beT-2 4/0 ACSR with 3/8” EHS shield wire and is made upof 254 poles.

MJE: Tell me about the time when Ed found out he had to have a kidneytransplant. What was your initial response?

Sheri: In the beginning Ed did not speak a lot about his medical issueswith me. As time went by and I had heard about his problems, I tried to offer as much support to him as I could.
