GOLDEN FILM 220 AND 460BEARING OILS Golden Film Bearing Oils are non-staining, rapeseed oil free lubricantsthat are truly universal and can be used inapplications that have historicallyrequired heavily compounded oils orstraight oils. They can be used forbearings, gears, slides, and generalrailway applications as well as for use inolder types of railway rolling stock axleboxes with plain bearings. Additionallythey are recommended for their ability to flow with worsted wool fibre or cottonwick lubricators often found on tractionengines and railway rolling stock.

At higher ambient temperatures GoldenFilm 460 Bearing Oil is recommended toreduce the rate of lubricant loss.

BEARING OILSGOLDEN FILM COMPOUND 220 AND 460 BEARING OILSCompound Bearing Oils meet thespecification requirements of BritishRail Schedule Number MT276 forlocomotives running on the mainline.They have superior lubricity and wettingpower compared to conventional oilsand will often maintain a stronger oilfilm in overload conditions helping toreduce the likelihood of componentfailure. These products arerecommended for all bearings, gears,slides, and general railway applicationsand have excellent feed characteristicsfor worsted wool wicks and axle bearingpads.

Morris Lubricants have developed this bespoke product range using expertise acquired from longassociation with steam heritage workshops. All Morris steam products are formulated and blended with

the consistency, precision and care required to comply with the strict requirements of BS EN ISO9001 2000 and BS EN ISO14001 2004.Whilst all locomotive grades have been specifically formulated to meet the specification requirements of British Rail Schedule NumberMT276, more contemporary products have been introduced to suit present day operating conditions on heritage lines. The product range is supported by experienced Technical and Field Sales Teams that can provide advice on grade suitability and trouble shooting.

PRESERVED DIESEL ENGINE OILSRING FREE XHD 20W/40RA zinc free product designed for mediumspeed railroad diesel engines andcomplies with the performance levelsspecified by the LocomotiveMaintenance Officers Association(LMOA) for generations 4 and 5. Theproduct also meets the requirements ofAPI CD/CF, Caterpillar 3600 seriesengines and has been granted atentative approval for General ElectricGeneration 4 Long Life, and worthy ofField Trials in EMD.

GOLDEN FILM COMPOUNDSTEAM CYLINDER OIL 460 AND 680For use in most Locomotives andStationary engines working with eithersaturated or superheated steam. Theyare rapeseed oil free, with a level ofcompounding that ensures that the oilcoats internal surfaces, providing astrong lubricating film where it is neededto protect bores and valves. For use intotal loss systems only, thesecompounded oils are ideally suited forall steam engines working up topressures in excess of 250 psi.

STEAM CYLINDER OILSGOLDEN FILM MAINLINE 1000STEAM CYLINDER OILDeveloped specifically for steam enginesoperating on the national rail networkwhere true superheat conditions areexperienced on long hauls. Theincorporation of selected additivesensure saturated conditions on start upor after prolonged stationary periods arecorrectly lubricated.

Locomotives operating under superheatconditions can cause lesser grades toform heavy carbonaceous depositsaround piston rings and cylinders. Thesedeposits, which can lead to acceleratedwear, are virtually eliminated by thecareful selection of base oils, additivesand precisely targeted quality controltesting. Has a higher level of tallow thanthe Compound Steam Cylinder Oils.Meets British Railways Boardspecification No. 665.

GOLDEN FILM COMPOUNDSTEAM CYLINDER OIL TFor use in Locomotives and Stationaryengines working with saturated steamand is compounded to provide superiorlubrication where very wet steam has tobe handled at the cylinders. Suitable forall steam engines working up topressures of 250 to 260 psi, withtypical steam temperatures up to 450ºF(230ºC). The product is rapeseed oilfree, with a higher level of tallow thanMainline 1000. It is further enhancedwith inhibitors and tackiness additivesto ensure cylinders are corrosion freeeven after over-wintering. For use intotal loss systems only.

GOLDEN FILM STEAM CARCOMPOUND 1000 STEAMCYLINDER OILThis product has been specificallyformulated for use in non-condensingmodels and with the co-operation ofStanley Steam Car owners. Thisadvanced formulation ensures not onlythe correct lubrication of cylinders butalso good visibility in the ‘Winker’. Inperiods of over-wintering and prolongeddowntimes, the product has a proventrack record in corrosion protection andfree piston movement on start up.

For late model steam cars, SOVEREIGN1000 is recommended, particularlywhere there is condensate recovery.

SOVEREIGN 460, 680 AND 1000STEAM CYLINDER OILSA range of non-compounded oils withsuperior resistance to oxidation anddeposit forming characteristics underextreme conditions of temperature andpressure. They separate quickly andcleanly from water and arerecommended for all steam engines withcondensate recovery devices for boiler orprocess feed. All Sovereign grades areideal for steam boats operating undersuperheat conditions where an oil of thistype is specified.

RING FREE XHD 30 AND XHD 40 Heavy-duty monograde diesel engineoils suited to preserved diesellocomotives. The products provide ahigh level of engine cleanliness andoutstanding wear protection.

SPECIALITIESSENTINEL CRANKCASE OILSentinel Crankcase Oil is recommendedsolely for use in the sumps of SentinelSteam Waggons, especially the ‘S’ Type,where large amounts of watercondensate can collect in the crankcase.This product allows the excessive waterto separate from the oil and wateremulsion formed, enabling it to bedrained regularly. The technologyprovides outstanding resistance to rust,corrosion, wear and oxidation, even inthe presence of water. Also suitable forStanley Steam Cars with wet sumps.

Please note that Sentinel Crankcase Oilshould be changed on a regular basis asinevitable cylinder oil contaminationreduces its ability to shed water fordraining purposes.

LODEXOL SS 80W/140A quality gear lubricant suited to thelubrication of final drive gears on StanleySteam Cars running dry sump systems.

K99 Water Resistant GreaseNLGI No.2 Calcium complex grease withexceptional water resistance and good anti-corrosion properties.Recommended for use as a generalpurpose grease where bearings may betemporarily immersed in water andthere is the possibility of corrosion fromsalt water or similar contaminants. Mayalso be used in stern tubes.

K383 Anti-seize CompoundNLGI No.1.5K383 is a lead free anti-seizecompound, made from high qualitymineral oils, non soap thickenerincorporating copper powder andgraphite. Excellent anti-seize propertiesmake it ideal for lubricating brakelinkages and it is also recommended asa thread lubricant on studs, pipes,casings and whenever eventualdisassembly must proceed smoothly.

K982 MAGNAPLEX Open Gear GreaseNLGI No.0 K982 Magnaplex is an aluminiumcomplex grease specifically formulatedfor use on open gears. This product hashigh load carrying and adhesivecharacteristics, allowing it to be usedwhere exceptionally high loads and slowsliding speeds are encountered.
