Participants

• Auditor• Producers• Abattoirs• Retail/Restaurant• Surveying of Consumers

What you will receive

• An auditing booklet• Policies and procedures• Documentation flowcharts

Audits

• 1 Audit per year for Retailers/Restaurants• Multiples Audits per year for Abattoirs if providing BC Beef to multiple

locations.• Processes and documentation will be reviewed

What you’ll do…

• Follow policies and procedures• Abattoirs will collect samples of certified BC beef destined to commercial

markets• Auditor will take samples from Retailers and Restaurants and link them to

specified shipments, and will be sent for DNA analysis• Abattoir samples from corresponding shipment will be obtained and shipped

for DNA analysis• Both sets of samples will then be paired for matching DNA confirmation• Provide any documentation that is required by the auditor• Display approved signage and labels for Certified BC Beef, as per license

agreement

DNA Testing

• Maxxam Analytics - DNA Testing• Single sample from Retail/Restaurant• Samples from Abattoir for specific shipping date• Pass or Fail

Consumers

• Surveys will be conducted at each retail/restaurant location along with any trade show that is attended.• Consumers will be able to view what we are doing to guarantee them

an amazing British Columbia product.

Funding

• Application is being completed through the Investment Agriculture Foundation to ensure that a pilot program can begin 2014.• Target start date is May 2014 (Contingent on approved funding).
