    1 Overview 1.1 Name

    Figure 1-1 shows the definition of the product name TP48200A.

    1.2 Introduction The TP48200A is an integrated outdoor backup alternating currenttodirect current (AC-to-DC) power system that employs 48 V, 50 A power supply units (PSUs). Physically, the TP48200A is a cabinet that houses the air filter, fan, PSU, monitoring unit, sensor, power

    distribution unit (PDU), and lamp. It may also contain the heater, Simple Network

    Management Protocol (SNMP) daughter board, and storage batteries. The available space for

    installing customer equipment is 20 U (889 mm [35 in.]) (with only one layer of storage

    batteries) high by 19 inches (483 mm) wide.

    The TP48200A is used in Class B environments and applicable to various outdoor scenarios.

    1.3 Positioning The TP48200A, AC power supply, automatic transfer switch (ATS), alternating current

    distribution box (ACDB), storage batteries, and related devices constitute a site power

    solution. Figure 1-2 shows the positioning of the TP48200A in the typical site power solution.

    1.4 Benefits The TP48200A supplies stable power to 48 V DC communications equipment and provides a maximum current of 200 A. Storage batteries in the TP48200A provide backup power for

    loads. The TP48200A features easy installation, intelligent hibernation, remote monitoring,

    and a wide range of AC input voltage.

    Easy Installation

    The power monitoring unit (PMU) and PSU are hot-swappable. This facilitates the system

    installation, saves maintenance time, and reduces the operational expenditure (OPEX).

    Intelligent Hibernation

    To improve efficiency, the TP48200A can put one or more PSUs in hibernation based on the

    actaul power usage.

    High Efficiency

    The TP48200A uses PSUs with a 96% efficiency record.

    Remote Monitoring

    OPEX is reduced when the TP48200A performs comprehensive self-management and battery

    management functions by connecting to the element management system (EMS) in in-band or

    out-of-band mode.

    In in-band mode, the PMU communicates with the PSUs over the RS485 serial port and

    with Huawei base stations over the RS232 or RS485 serial port.

    In out-of-band mode, the PMU communicates with the EMS by using an SNMP

    daughter board and a fast Ethernet (FE) port over the transport network.

    Wide Range of AC Input Voltage

    The AC input voltage of the TP48200A ranges from 90 V AC to 290 V AC phase voltage.

    High-Level Regulatory Design

    The TP48200A complies with Conformite Europeenne (CE) standards, the power distribution

    components comply with CE standards, and the PSU complies with underwriters laboratory

    (UL), CE, and Technical Watch-Over Association (TUV) standards.

    Low Noise

    The noise specifications comply with ETS 300 753 Class 4.1 (rural environment).

    High Protection Level

    The cabinet protection level is IP55.

    2.2 Cabinet

    2.2.1 Appearance

    The TP48200A cabinet is made of double-shell aluminum. Dimensions (H x W x D) of the

    TP48200A cabinet (excluding the base) are 1725 mm x 700 mm x 700 mm (67.91 in. x 27.56

    in. x 27.56 in.). Dimensions (H x W x D) of the base are 200 mm x 700 mm x 650 mm (7.87

    in. x 27.56 in. x 25.59 in.).

    2.2.2 Components

    Cable Outlet Module

    A cable outlet module allows cables to route out of the TP48200A cabinet. Sufficient cable

    outlets are reserved for capacity expansion. To conveniently access cables, you are advised to

    place the cable outlet module on the front side at the bottom of the cabinet.

    Battery Shelf

    The cabinet can be equipped with battery shelves including a baffle plate. The number of

    shelves depends on types of the cabinet and other equipment inside.

    2.2.3 Features

    The cabinet has the following features:

    The protection level of the cabinet is IP55.

    The cabinet applies to Class B environments.

    Configured with the fan assembly, the cabinet has a standard heat dissipation maximum

    heat dissipation capability of 1700 W.

    The cabinet can be installed on the ground and maintained from the front.

    2.3 Temperature Control System

    2.3.1 Overview

    The temperature control system of the TP48200A is composed of a direct-cooling unit and a

    heater if required. The temperature control system accelerates the air ventilation and reduces

    the temperature inside the cabinet by using fans and other ventilation devices. The optional

    heater, keeps the internal cabinet at an optimal operating temperature.

    2.3.2 Direct-Cooling Unit

    The direct-cooling unit consists of an air-exhaust device, an air-intake device, an air filter, and

    a fan assembly. The direct-cooling unit extends the area for exchanging air inside and outside

    the cabinet, speeds up air circulation, and reduces the operating temperature in the cabinet.

    Air-exhaust device

    The air-exhaust device is mounted in the upper part on the interior of the cabinet door, as

    shown in Figure 2-9.

    Air filter

    The air filter prevents most dust particles from entering the cabinet.

    The TP48200A uses either an F6 or a G4 air filter. Figure 2-10 shows an F6 air filter.

    2.3.3 Fan Assembly

    The fan assembly houses two centrifugal fans. The fans direct air into the cabinet through the

    lower part of the door and out of the cabinet through the upper.

    2.3.4 Heater (Optional)

    The TP48200A uses the HAU02A-01 as the heater. The heater ensures that the temperature

    inside the cabinet stays above 10C (14F). It starts working when the temperature inside drops below 5C (23F), and stops when the temperature reaches 15C (59F).

    Figure 2-13 shows the heater.

    The maximum power of one heater is 500 W when supplied with 220 V AC power.

    If the average temperature in the coldest month of the year is below 10C (14F), a heater is required.

    2.4 PSU

    2.4.1 Appearance

    The PSU converts the AC input power into stable 48 V DC power. The TP48200A can be configured with two, three, or four PSUs.

    2.4.2 Panel

    The PSU panel provides the power light emitting diode (LED), protection LED, and fault

    LED. Figure 2-15 shows the PSU panel.

    The monitoring unit is 1 U (44.45 mm [1.75 in.]) high, and can be installed in a 19-inch rack.

    2.5.2 Components

    Table 2-7 describes the main components of the monitoring unit, including the PMU, user

    interface module 02A (UIM 02A), and signal transfer board.

    Component Description

    Signal transfer board The signal transfer board is installed at the back of the subrack, and

    is used to connect the PMU and UIM 02A. It provides two 96-pin

    connectors to connect the UIM 02A and a board if required for

    function extension. A 125-pin connector is also provided to connect

    the PMU.

    PMU The PMU, which is hot-swappable and serves as the major

    processing unit, performs the monitoring function. The PMU

    connects to the signal transfer board through a 125-pin connector.

    The PMU manages lower level equipment such as the temperature

    control unit and outdoor battery cabinet.

    UIM 02A The UIM 02A, which is also hot-swappable, provides various ports

    such as the humidity and temperature detection port, Boolean value

    input port, dry contact output.

    2.5.3 Features

    The monitoring module provides the following features:

    2.5.4 PMU

    Appearance

    The PMU provides a RUN LED (green), an ALM LED (red), a liquid crystal display (LCD)

    that displays the operating parameters, operating status, alarm status, configured parameters,

    and controlling parameters of the DC power, AC power, PSUs and storage batteries. These

    parameters are collected by the PMU. You can set parameters and control the TP48200A by

    pressing the four buttons as shown in Figure 2-17.

    Button Description

    NOTE

    After a menu is displayed, the standby screen is displayed if no button is pressed within 5 minutes.

    After a menu is displayed, the LCD screen becomes dark if no button is pressed within 8 minutes.

    On the standby screen, the LCD contrast can be decreased by pressing and Enter simultaneously or be increased by pressing and Enter simultaneously.
