NOTES:
Removed Parts:−
Place all removed parts on a protected surface.
Connectors:−
When disconnecting connectors, do not pull on
the wires; pull on the connectors.
Wire Ties:−
When using wire ties to secure harness, clip the
wire ties after securing them.
A. Vehicle Disassembly.
1. Lift up the luggage center box cover (rear
floor board no. 2). (Fig. A−1)
i. Cover the rear trunk edge and bumper with
blanket before starting.
ii. Release the lock mechanism from the lock
to the unlock position.
2. Lift up the center luggage box (deck floor box
rear). (Fig. A−2)
3. Remove the right (passenger) side battery
cover (rear floor board no. 3) including
vertical trim cover by separating the four (4)
claw fittings. (Fig. A−3)
4. Remove the negative battery cable of the
auxiliary battery. (Fig. A−4)
i. Do not touch the positive terminal with
any tool when removing the cable.

5. Remove the two screws securing the steering
column cover behind the steering wheel.

i. Turn the steering wheel left and right to
gain access to the screws.
6. Remove the driver side vent panel by releasing
the eight (8) panel clips/locator pins.

7. Remove the lower dash cover. (Fig. A−7)
i. Remove two (2) screws securing the lower
dash cover.
ii. Remove the hood release cable from the
hood release latch
iii. Release the five (5) panel clips and two (2)
locator pins.
iv. Remove the connectors.

8. Be careful when handling the lower dash cover
during removal. The insulators in the lower
dash cover break easily. (Fig. A−8)
9. Remove the upper dash cover. (Fig. A−9)
i. Carefully insert removal tool to disengage
clips to remove panel.
ii. Pull upper dash cover upwards and
rearward to remove.
iii. Disconnect the connector from the ignition
Start/Stop push button switch.
10. Attach the masking tape to the driver’s center
vent panel as shown. (Fig. A−10)
11. Attach the masking tape on the lower steering
column cover around the tilt lever, then
remove one screw securing the lower steering
column cover. (Fig. A−11)
i. Do not attach the masking tape around the
screw in the lower steering column cover.

12. Pull up slightly and tilt forward the upper
steering column cover, then remove it.

B. V2 ECU Preparation and Installation.
1. Turn the adjustment screw on the V2 ECU to
the "8" position. (Fig. B−1)
2. Insert the ECU mounting bracket into the
indicated bracket slot on the V2 ECU.
(Fig. B−2)
i. Insert the mounting bracket into the correct
slot; you have only one chance to install it
properly.
ii. Ensure the bracket is firmly attached to the
ECU.
3. Plug in the V2 harness white 8P connector to
the V2 ECU. (Fig. B−3)
i. Verify the connector is plugged in
securely.

4. Locate and remove the tape securing the
vehicle harness’s white 3P connector to the
vehicle harness below the meter panel area and
to the right of the vehicle’s electric power
steering control module. (Fig. B−4)
5. Locate the hole in the reinforcement to the
right of the vehicle’s electric power steering
control module. Then using the screw
supplied in the kit, secure the V2 ECU to the
reinforcement. (Fig. B−5)
i. When securing the screw, position the
socket and extension in the opening above
the steering column as shown.
ii. Ensure the screw is properly tightened.

C. V2 Harness Installation.
1. Plug the V2 harness’ white 3P connector into
the vehicle harness’ white 3P connector.
(Fig. C−1)
i. Verify the connectors are plugged in
securely.
2. Secure the 3P connectors and the V2 harness
to the vehicle harness with one (1) medium
wire tie. (Fig. C−2)
i. Verify the connectors are plugged in
securely.
3. Route the V2 harness with the 2P connector
downward to the driver side center cluster
area, then secure it to the vehicle harness with
two (2) medium wire ties. (Fig. C−3)

D. Microphone Installation.
1. Using the 3MTM
Prep Solvent−70 clean the
area indicated on the backside of the
dashboard near the diagnostic connector.
(Fig. D−1)
i. When cleaning with 3MTM
Prep
Solvent−70 follow the manufacturer’s
directions. Do not allow cleaner to air dry.
2. Remove the backing sheet and secure the
microphone to the backside of the dashboard.
(Fig. D−1)
i. Secure the microphone as shown.
ii. Do not touch the adhesive surface of the
microphone.
iii. Press the microphone to the dashboard
panel firmly.
3. Secure the microphone with one (1) small
strip of foam tape. (Fig. D−2)
i. Do not cover the opening of the
microphone with the foam tape.
4. Plug in the V2 harness’ white 2P connector to
the microphone white 2P connector.

i. Verify the connectors are plugged in
securely.

5. Secure the 2P connectors to the vehicle
harness with one (1) medium wire tie.

E. V2 Harness Installation (continued).
1. Route the V2 harness’ ground wire through the
opening below the electric power steering
control module terminal as shown. (Fig. E−1)
2. Locate and remove the vehicle’s ground bolt
from the brace in the upper right corner of the
driver side metal panel. (Fig. E−2)
i. Do not discard the bolt.
3. Secure the V2 harness’ ground wire terminal,
along with the vehicle harness’ ground wire
terminals, using the existing bolt. Then secure
the V2 harness’ ground wire to the vehicle
harness with one medium wire tie. (Fig. E−3)
i. Verify the bolt is tightened securely.
F. Completing the Installation.
1. Complete the reassembly of the vehicle.
i. Reconnect any disconnected connectors.
ii. Verify the panels fit together properly with
no uneven gaps between them.
iii. Remove all masking tape attached earlier.
iv. Reinstall battery cover and center luggage
box cover.
2. Clean up and remove any trash.
3. Reconnect the vehicle’s negative battery cable.

i. Position the negative terminal at an angle
of 90º to the battery as shown.
ii. Tighten the nut to 6 N m (53 lbf in).
iii. Do not touch the positive terminal with
any tool when replacing the cable.

4. Place the owner’s manual, and warranty card,
left in their protective bags, in the glove box.
5. Reset the power windows.
i. Push down the power window switch of
each door and lower the window halfway.
ii. Pull up the switch until the window closes
and hold the switch up for at least 1 more
second.
G. GBS Setting Procedure.
NOTE: Check for the latest version of the
software on Toyota Information System (TIS)
before setting up the security system.
NOTE: Ensure the software is the latest version
(Production Version 10.2a. (07/18/03) or later.)
NOTE: Download the latest software from
Toyota Information System (TIS).
1. Connect the scan tool connector to the
vehicle’s diagnostic connector in the lower
dash area. (Fig. G−1)
2. Insert the remote key or smart key (as
appropriate) into the key slot. Press the power
button once to select "ACC" position.
i. Verify the shift position is in "N" position
and LED on "P" switch is illuminated.
3. Push the scan tool main switch "ON" and then
press the ENTER key. (Fig. G−2)

4. Select the correct vehicle application, "Prius

11. Press the "ENTER" key. (Fig. G−9)
12. Press and hold the "ON" button, then press the
"EXIT" button to turn off the scan tool.
i. Disconnect the scan tool from the vehicle’s
diagnostic connector.

Accessory Function Checks
Fit appropriate fuse before beginning.
Close the hood before beginning.
Press and release the remote key’s lock
button to start the system’s arming process.
Wait 30 seconds.
Perform the following checks in a
temperature−controlled environment
(500−900F)
With moderate force, tap the center of the
driver’s door window with the tip of a key
to trigger the "warn away" alarm.
Press the unlock button of the remote key
to stop the alarm.
Vehicle Function Checks
Perform standard electrical system
function checks.
1. The tail and maker lights flash once.
The buzzer chirps once.
All doors lock.
The Security LED lights up.
2. After 30 seconds, the Security LED starts
flashing; the system is now armed.
3. The horn sounds repeatedly.
The interior lights turn on.
The headlights flash repeatedly.
The tail and marker lights flash repeatedly.
The Security LED lights up.
NOTE: If you do not disarm the system, the
alarm will last 20 seconds. It is not necessary
to check the alarm duration.
NOTE: Adjust as necessary by increasing the
GBS setting to the next level if the alarm does
not trigger during the functional verifications.
4. The horn stops sounding.
All the lights stop flashing and/or turn off.
The Security LED starts to flash.
Confirm electrical system is functioning
correctly.
