b. Discussion regarding Heritage Tree Protection

Background:

Heritage Tree Programs have been established in many areas throughout the country. While every program has different guidelines when it comes to recognizing heritage trees, the common purpose of these programs is to encourage proper tree maintenance, increase public awareness, educate property owners and limit the removal of these trees. Commissioner Thurlow-Lippisch has requested that the Commission discuss establishing a program for protection of heritage trees in Sewall’s Point. Following is a list of heritage tree programs for your review and consideration. I

c. Discussion regarding standards for landscaping maintenance of street medians

There are a variety of medians and other landscaped areas within the Town rights-of-way, some in private ownership and privately maintained, but others in public ownership that may be maintained by the Town or by the neighbors in the area. The goal of this discussion is to obtain Commission direction regarding the standardization of the Town’s responsibilities regarding these areas. Illustrative photographs are as follows. More photos will be available at the workshop. 1. Indialucie & Fieldway
