1.What are the principles a tour guide

should follow to deal with the

tourists’ specific

requirements?

(1) A tour guide should pay attention to all the tourists’ requirements.

(2) If possible a tour guide should meet the reasonable requests of the tourists.

2.What is an “incident of the missing tour guide upon the tourists’ arrival”? What might be some of the causes?

(1) It means that there is no tour guide to meet the tourists upon their arrival.

(2) The causes might include:

(a) The organizing travel agency fails to inform the local agency of the arrival time.

(b) The local agency gives the guide inaccurate information.

(c) The guide remembers the wrong time and place of arrival.

(d) The guide is held up by a traffic accident.

3.What is an “incident of receiving the wrong tourists”? what might be some of the causes?

(1) The “incident of receiving the wrong

tourists” means that a guide has met tourists

other than his own, which his own tourists are left at the airport or station, or have been picked up by some other tour guide.

(2) The main cause is that the guide is so irresponsible that he has not followed even the most basic procedures; checking the name of the organizing travel agency, the group number, the number of tourists and the name of the tour leader.

4.If a tourist suddenly gets a fever, should a guide give the tourist some medicine to allay the fever?Not being a doctor, a guide has no authority to prescribe or offer medicine to tourists, the guide should send the patient to the nearest clinic or hospital.

5.What help can a guide offer to tourists who suffer from carsickness?

(1) A guide should remind these who are likely to get carsick not to eat too much before boarding a coach.

(2) A guide should advise the tourist to take the medicine prescribed for carsickness with him.

(3) If possible, the guide may arrange for the tourist to sit in a seat providing a smoother ride.

6.If the tourists goes missing during the free time, what should a guide do?

(2) When the tourist returns, the guide should be solicitous and gently remind him not to get lost again, but should not criticize him.

(1) The guide should immediately report to the travel agency and seek help from the local

police station if necessary.

If the tourist is willing to pay for the price difference for the upgrade, the guide can help make the arrangements.

7.What should a guide do if a tourist asks for a single room instead of the

standard from specified in the contract?
