2008HOW TO USE THE TABLES

The market for sustainable design has passed the tipping pointand is rapidly becoming mainstream. ENR's first Top Green Design Firms is an attempt to bypass the marketing and hype and measure the market by ranking designers based on their 2007 revenue from projects that were registered and actively seeking certification from major third-

party environmental standards or ratings organizations. The ENR Top 100 Green Designers generated $1.74 billion in revenue from such projects in 2007, $1.62 billion domestically and $121.2 million abroad.

Companies are ranked according to revenue for design services generated in 2007from projects that have been registered with or certified by a third-party organizationthat sets standards for measuring a facility’s environmental impact, energy efficiencyor carbon footprint. Such groups include the U.S. Green Building Council and the Green Building Initiative. Revenue is measured in $ millions. Some markets may not add up to 100% due to rounding.
