Message to our seniors:

As we enter Fall, we are looking forward to some fantastic, fun, and educational events over the next few months. It is so wonderful to have people enjoying the wide variety of activities since we have re-opened. We have a few reminders as we address the drastic increase in COVID cases in our com-munity. At this time, we are STRONGLY recommending people to wear masks at the senior center. If you are not feeling well, please go to the doctor or stay home. I en-courage all individuals who are immunocom-promised to receive a booster COVID vac-cine. We want to continue to hold activities and dine-in meals, and we need your help by fol-lowing these guidelines. Please reach out to the Health Department (435-277-2300) and the Community Health Workers if you have any questions regarding the vaccine. The Health Department is happy to have conver-sations to address concerns about the vac-cine. Thank you for your patience and un-derstanding of these procedures. We want to keep the Centers a space that is safe for all. We are all in this together. During September, we will have the oppor-tunity to recognize Grandparents. Grand-parent’s Day is officially September 12th. Please reach out and thank our fantastic Grandparents who provide such support to our communities and children. Enjoy the rest of your Summer. Be well. See you soon.

Message to our seniors: Dear Seniors, It has been a long hot summer and then we finally got some rain, but it all came at once! I hope that you have enjoyed the Friday night concerts at the park for the past several weeks. It was good to get out again and enjoy one another's company. I am grateful for the opportunity to come back to the center each month to talk to you and answer your questions about the city. This month the first Monday falls on Labor Day so we will meet on Monday, September 13th at 10am for our next Mon-day with the Mayor event. I look forward to seeing you all! This year on Saturday, September 11th; the city will join with the other county resi-dents to honor those lost on that day 20 years ago. We will also honor our current emergency responders for the service they provide unselfishly each day. We will begin the day with a flag ceremony at 6:45 am in front of the Tooele City Police Station located at 50 N Garden Street. A siren will ring county wide at 6:46am, the time the first plane hit the tower in New York City. We will then honor our first responders with a challenge coin presentation after the flag raising. We will then sound the old si-ren on our Tooele City Fire Station #1. Fol-lowing this event, we ask residents to per-form an act of service on that day. At 7pm that evening, we will join all of our county friends at the Utah Motorsports Park locat-ed next to Deseret Peak in Grantsville City for a short program and then a fireworks display at dark in honor of those lives lost on that awful day. More information about this event will be in our local newspaper and on the city website. I hope that each of you can join us for events on that day. Take care and I'll see you all soon!
