D avid Hassel- hoff and his Welsh girlfriend, Hayley Roberts, have become en- gaged, Newsday contributor Frank Lovece reports. The “Baywatch” and “Knight Rider” star posted the news on his website yesterday and told “Hello!” magazine he proposed during a beach- side picnic in Malibu, California. Hassel- hoff, 63, met Roberts, 36, in 2011 while he was serving as a judge on the U.K. TV show “Britain’s Got Talent.” The two met in a Cardiff bar, reports the Euro- pean wire service the Press Association. J immy Kimmel will be first guest host on “Live With Kelly” on May 16 after Michael Strahan’s de- parture May 13, News- day’s Verne Gay re- ports. The show tweeted the news yes- terday “Monday, May 16th, @jimmykimmel will be Kelly’s first guest co-host!” — but didn’t indi- cate length of tenure. Kimmel is a logical choice as first guest host with Kelly Ripa — he’s an “in-house” star, as late-night host of “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” and was a frequent presence here, even during the Strahan run. LINDA WINER BY [email protected] The “Hamilton” juggernaut continued yesterday when the smash musical broke another record with 16 Tony Award nomi- nations — including nods for best musical and three more to creator Lin-Manuel Mi- randa for his score, book and lead perfor- mance. Until now, the record was held by “The Producers” and “Billy Elliot,” which each had 15. Almost as newsworthy for Broadway is the recognition for Ivo van Hove , the Bel- gian director whose radical revivals of Arthur Miller ’s “A View from the Bridge” (five) and “The Crucible” (four) are both nominated. Of the new plays, Stephen Karam’s “The Humans,” has six, as does Danai Gurira ’s “Eclipsed,” including one for star Lupita Nyong’o . Mike Bartlett ’s “King Charles III” has five, while Florian Zeller ’s “The Father” (2) got a nod for star Frank Langella. In a rich year for new musicals, “Amer- ican Psycho” and “Tuck Everlasting” were shut out from the important cate- gory. But major notice went to “Shuffle Along, or the Making of the Musical Sen- sation of 1921 and All That Followed,” which has 10 nominations, including best musical and two for director/au- thor George C. Wolfe. Shockingly, Audra McDonald (who already has a record six Tonys) was not nominated. Musical nominations also went to “Bright Star” (five), including Steve Mar- tin’s book and for his score with Edie Brickell . Andrew Lloyd Webber and Glenn Slater were nominated for their score for “School of Rock” (four). “Waitress” (four) also was cited for Sara Bareilles’ score and star Jessie Mueller . The play-revival category also honored “Long Day’s Journey Into Night” (seven), including nods for Jessica Lange , Gabriel Byrne and Michael Shannon. Also in the revival category is “Blackbird” (three), in- cluding Jeff Daniels and Michelle Williams, and “Noises Off” (five), includ- ing Andrea Martin and Megan Hilty . And from the musical-revival season, six went to “She Loves Me,” including one for star Laura Benanti . “The Color Purple” got four, including one for Cyn- thia Erivo. The Deaf West production of “Spring Awakening” has three. Al- though Danny Burstein was singled out for his Tevye in “Fiddler on the Roof” (three), director Bartlett Sher was not nominated. Other omissions include Benjamin Walker (“American Psycho”), Jesse Tyler Ferguson (“Fully Committed”), Jennifer Hudson (“Color Purple”), Ben Whishaw and Saoirse Ronan (“Cru- cible”), Forest Whitaker (“Hughie”), Keira Knightley (“Therese Raquin”), James Earl Jones and Cicely Tyson (“The Gin Game”), Matthew Broderick (“Sylvia”), George Takei and Lea Sa- longa (“Allegiance”). Big-name stars Bruce Willis (“Misery”) and Al Pacino (“China Doll”) also were shunned. The 70th anniversary Tony Awards will be telecast June 12 on CBS. Introducing the 50 Most Power- ful Moms list. As for “Scandal” star Washing- ton, the magazine wrote: “Kerry’s gusto extends well beyond the pa- rameters of a camera shot.” Hart’s big fall Kevin Hart took a serious fall at his last “What Now?” world tour show in Honolulu the other night.
