J immy Kimmel willbe first guest host
on “Live With Kelly”on May 16 afterMichael Strahan’s de-partureMay 13,News-day’s Verne Gay re-ports. The showtweeted thenewsyes-terday — “Monday,May 16th,@jimmykimmelwill beKelly’sfirst guest co-host!” — but didn’t indi-cate length of tenure. Kimmel is a logicalchoice as first guest host with KellyRipa— he’s an “in-house” star, as late-nighthost of “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” and was afrequent presence here, even during theStrahan run.
The “Hamilton” juggernaut continuedyesterday when the smash musical brokeanother recordwith 16 TonyAward nomi-nations— including nods for bestmusicaland three more to creator Lin-Manuel Mi-randa for his score, book and lead perfor-mance. But major notice went to “ShuffleAlong, or theMaking of theMusical Sen-sation of 1921 and All That Followed,”which has 10 nominations, includingbest musical and two for director/au-thor George C. Wolfe. Shockingly, AudraMcDonald (who already has a record six
Tonys) was not nominated.Musical nominations also went to
