Extended Day
Students who have been absent from tests or have accumulated multiple zeros
and are endanger of failing the six weeks will be assigned extended day on Mon-
days and Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30 to make up missed tests or assignments.

If you have not signed up for Parent Portal please contact the office if you need
assistance. Please encourage your child to sign up for their own account. They
can come by the office and we can sign them up.

PSAT will be administered at THS Wednesday,
October 14th. If your student signed up, the fee
will need to be paid as soon as possible.
The next SAT test date is November 7th - sign up
deadline is October 9th.
The next ACT test date is October 24th - register
late with a fee

Math Algebra/Pre-Cal/Calculus

Algebra 1:
Students will wrap up their initial study of functions. There will be a quiz
on Tuesday and a test on Thursday over Unit 5.
Precalculus:
Students will test on Tuesday over the remainder of Unit 2. On Wednesday, they will begin their
student of quadratics.
AP Calculus:
Students will take their second AP exam on Tuesday. On Wednesday, they will begin their study
of the derivative rules.
Advanced Precalculus:
Students will take their third test on Tuesday and begin their study of square root, semicircle and
absolute value functions on Wednesday.
Algebra II and Geometry

Algebra 2 and Geometry will be finishing quizzes this week. Geometry will continue to study an-
gles. Algebra 2 will begin working on word problems and writing systems of equations. Notebook
checks will be this Wednesday and Thursday! Any student wanting to improve a test grade is
given a retest review. Retests will need to be taken by Friday and are averaged with the first test
for a maximum grade of 75.

Science and engineering Courses
Science Biology/Adv. Chemistry/A&P

Biology students will be going over the use of a microscope. They will start the week with an
enzyme lab, and finish the week with microscope labs.
Human Anatomy will continue covering the integumentary system. They will do a lab over the
structure and function of the skin.
Chemistry will continue investigating the organization of the periodic table and the structure of
an atom.
Chemistry/IPC

Chem - Chemistry will be discussing the groups of the periodic table, the different atomic
structures, and then chemical bonding to finish the week.
IPC - IPC will discuss the atomic theory, have an assignment covering the periodic table and
the atomic theory, then finish the week with chemical bonding.
Principles of Technology/Engineering Design

Engineering Design and Presentation (aka Concepts of Engineering)
Students will construct Toothpick bridges and test them on Friday.
Advanced Engineering Design and Presentation II
Students will focus on making drawing files (.idw's) and begin assemblies using Autodesk In-
ventor
Principles of Technology
Finish Bridge Truss Analysis problems and begin building model bridges.
Engineering Design and Problem Solving
Finish compound machine activity.

DC English III & IV Ms. Anderson [email protected]
English III DC - Students' synthesis essays are due Tuesday. We will then begin the essay en-
tries for the VFW Voice of Democracy contest. The essay topic is "My Vision for America."
English IV - Students will finish stories from "The Canterbury Tales." We will then begin the
King Arthur legend, reading "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight."
English IV DC - Students will continue "The Canterbury Tales." We will prepare for their mid-
term exam, which is next week.
English I Reading - Students will begin reading "Cold Sassy Tree."
English Language Arts Courses
English ELA II & III

10th on-level: Students will review gerunds,
participles, and infinitives from last year, read
several more persuasive texts and provide
analysis, and begin their first persuasive pa-
per.
10th advanced: Students will have a debate in
class which will be the springboard for their
first persuasive paper (due Friday). We will
then continue various readings in our
"Justice" unit. Students will complete a gram-
mar assignment early in the week.
11th on-level: We will watch The Crucible the
first half of the week, and then begin the
Revolutionary Unit.
English ELA I

In English I, we'll be learning about
irony and will begin Romeo and Juliet.
We'll also continue our study of vo-
cabulary and different sentence struc-
tures.

Spanish 2: Casi se muere chapter 3 vocab review with
worksheet & and listening Fill-In for chapter 3. Begin
preterite tense using the thief sequence on Power
Point: with worksheets #30 & 29 LADD & walk thru
lecture fill in; vocabulary, intro to preterite regulars;
Spanish 3: Reading Viaje de su vida capítulo 3 with
accompanying worksheet; Continue with page 18 and
following; Imperfect tense this week “Cuando yo era
niño…” - Quiz imperfect tense on Friday. Imperfect
vocube game. Picture sequence possibly: Teacher’s
choice.
Spanish 4: write up quiz Thursday over chapter 7
Viva. Listening transcriptions over podcasts # 7 due
on Wednesday .Complete drill #4 in Clep book . Read-
ing Casa embrujada, chapter 3 with summary write-up
and class discussion. Listening dialogue #6 & 7 from
AP Spanish book.

This week we will be learning how to
conjugate stem changing verbs in the
present tense. We will have an oral vo-
cabulary quiz on Tuesday by having a
Spanish conversation using all the vo-
cabulary words. We will start planning
our Hispanic heritage month project as
well as our dia de los muertos project.
Spanish I
This week we will be learning how to
use subject pronouns when conjugating
verbs. We will conjugating present tense
verbs all week. We will also be plan-
ning our Hispanic heritage month pro-
ject as well as our dia de los muertos
project.
