Vocation Views God’s glory continues to shine in our world. Where do you

need to carry the light of Christ? Consider being a light for

the world as a Church minister. (Isaiah 60:1-6)

ND March for Life January 29

You are invited to partake in the first-ever North Dakota March

for Life, taking place at the North Dakota State Capitol on Janu-

ary 29, 2021. On January 22, 1973, the United States Supreme

Court handed down the Roe v. Wade decision that made abor-

tion legal, allowing many to choose to have an abortion without

government intervention. Since then, over 62 million lives have

been lost due to abortion. To begin the event on January 29th,

Bishop Kagan will celebrate Mass at 11:00am for the general

public at the Cathedral (separate Masses are being arranged for

Catholic School junior high and high school students so as to al-

low for adequate social distancing). Following Mass, groups are

welcome to march (or drive) to the Capitol grounds for a pro-

gram beginning at 12:30pm to include a keynote speaker and a

period of silence for the 62 million lives who have been silenced

by abortion in the United States since 1973. For more infor-

mation on how you can participate in-person or remotely visit

www.umary.edu/ndmarchforlife.

Patriotic Rosary on January 21st Come in prayer to heal our nation. A Patriotic Rosary dedicates

one Hail Mary in a traditional Catholic Rosary to each state of the

United States and asks God’s protection and guidance of our

nation. The Patriotic Rosary is a powerful prayer for divine pro-

tection and mercy for our Nation and its rebirth. This will be said

on Thursday, January 21st at 7pm. Please join us as we come

together and unite to strengthen our nation!

New Podcast from Fr. Mike Schmitz If you have struggled to read the Bible, this podcast is for you.

January 1st, 2021. There is still time to catch up on the few pod-

cast’s that have taken place since it started. Each 20-25 minute

episode includes:

• Two to three scripture readings

• A reflection from Fr. Mike Schmitz

• Guided prayer to help you hear God’s voice in his Word

Adoration

Adoration hours still continue on Wednesday’s from 6am-9pm in

the chapel. If you would like to sign up for an hour contact the

parish office at 701-663-1660 or go to

spiritoflife.weadorehim.com. As always, you are welcome to

come spend time in the Adoration Chapel at anytime that you

would choose. We are very thankful to all our Adorer’s for your

part in making this such a special and blessed time!

Today we celebrate The Epiphany of the Lord. Epiphany means

manifestation. What the Church celebrates today is the manifes-

tation of our Lord to the whole world; after being made known

to the shepherds of Bethlehem He is revealed to the Magi who

have come from the East to adore Him. The Gospel calls the men

from the East who visited the Christ child μάγοι (magoi) meaning

sage, wise or learned. The gospel does not say how many Magi

there were; this tradition seems to have started with the theolo-

gian Origen (185-254) who assumes there must have been three

kings because there were three gifts (gold, frankincense, and

myrrh). The symbolism of these gifts are: Gold the gift of kings, a

symbol of kingship; Frankincense an incense used as a mark of

honor used in worship (as when we incense the priest and peo-

ple at Mass, or the altar or book of the gospels or gifts of bread

and wine). It is a symbol of deity; Myrrh has come to symbolize

death and the oil that was brought by the three Marys on Easter

morning to anoint his body. Myrrh is a symbol both of healing (or

salvation) and of death.
