“For nine months a child is sheltered in a warm, safe, cozy place. It’s the

most secure life ever gets! The day the child meets Dad is the worst day of his

life! He has to squeeze through the birth canal until he looks like a conehead.

Then someone spanks him to make him cry. Talk about a rotten day! But then the

child decides he may survive when someone hands him back to Mom and he is

able to nurse. Again, he is close and secure.” ~Cope, Mike, One Holy Hunger,

Sweet Publishing, 1993, p. 35.

No wonder Mom gets all the good presents! God is referred to as “Father”,

but have you considered that he is also referred to as a “Mother”? God is de-

scribed as a mother hen gathering her chicks, a mother bear, a lioness, a mother

eagle and as giving birth. In God we are “close and secure”.

“As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted

over Jerusalem.” – Isaiah 66:13

Mike Cope says that “the day the child meets Dad is the worst day of his

life!” I think that many women might say that the day they met their child was the

worst day of their life. I have often thought that we should celebrate mom on

birthdays and not the child, especially after I witnessed the birth of our twins.

Could God say that the day he birthed the church through the blood of Jesus, was

his worst day? But when Mom holds that baby, it turns into the best day. When

we become God’s children, the angels rejoice. I’ll bet God rejoices right there

with the angels.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Just Pondering

Paul’s Ponders

cuento todo esto? JESUS DE NAZARET él desea que hables de el;

Yo soy tu hermano Gilberto.........

Aveces Pienso
