SUMMER COLLECTIONS

19 de mayo, 2019

19 de mayo de 2019 5º domingo de Pascua

Les doy un nuevo mandamiento: amense

unos a otros. Como los he amado, también

deben amarse unos a otros.

Juan 13:34

Es fácil amar a alguien cuando el amor es

correspondido. Pero se necesita fuerza y

valor para amar a alguien cuando nos

sentimos despreciados, usados, o sentimos

que nuestra opinión no importa. Se necesita

valor para "amar a mi prójimo" cuando puede

ser alguien que no me gusta, alguien que no

conozco o alguien que no se parece a mí.

NEW PLAQUE BOARDS IN THE CHURCH

F S E

Knights of Columbus

Next Meeting:

Tuesday, May 22,

General Meeting, 7:00 PM, Rm 206.

Interested in joining the Knights?

Please contact Richard Gambatese at

5125519525.

www.EmmausParish.org/KofC

These new plaque boards have been

placed in the church Narthex. Please

find them on the side of the Narthex

that goes to the PLC building, near

the women’s restrooms.

The new plaque boards replace all

the small, individual plaques that

were throughout the church

sanctuary since the church was

built. These consolidated plaques

were a large effort to create, as

those smaller individual plaques

were literally everywhere within

the sanctuary. The dedications are

remembered here to honor all those

that contributed to the building of

our magnificent sanctuary. Because

of the large number of individual plaques and the lack of documentation as to their whereabouts (we are still

finding them!), we may have missed getting some moved onto the consolidated boards. Please, if you notice

that your name is missing from these three, large plaques, please contact Jaime Philip in the Parish Office:

5122618500 x223, [email protected]. We want to ensure that all previous dedications are

well remembered. Thank you.

The Ashes to Easter collection this year brought in $1,918 in coins!

Ashes to Easteris an annual diocesan Lenten mission project that

affirms and encourageslocal missionary groups and other mission

activities of the Diocese of Austin. The funds collected are used for

grants to groups and organizations to aid in their mission efforts.

Summer Camp at Emmaus, July 812!

Mobile Loaves & Fishes Camp serves to inspire our

youth in grades 18 to love and serve the least of His

people. This year’s focus is on the homeless. Home is

a sense of belonging, a source of comfort, and a place

where one feels truly loved exactly as made by God.

This year’s mission is to teach our children how each

of us can have a meaningful impact of the lives of the

homeless in our community. This is love in action.

For more information and to register go to

www.mlfcamp.org.

Registration is now open for:

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

JUNE 2428

There are challenges for families participating in the

traditional weekly class for religious education. The

Summer Faith Defenders program seeks to

accommodate Emmaus families and provide an

alternative.

Who can attend: Rising first through eight grade

students. 50 student maximum. Parent(s) are

required to attend two of the summer evening

sessions!

Dates: May 28, 29, 30, 31 and June 3, 4, 5 and 6.

Times: 6:00 9:00 PM each evening.

This program covers the same material as in the

weekly classes. It will satisfy the class hour

requirement for faith formation. There are no make

up classes, therefore every session must be attended

in its entirety.

The summer evenings center around the 4 pillars of

the church:

1. The Creed: what we believe, Bible story &

Timeline

2. Prayer: how we communicate with God

3. Sacraments: God’s grace and how we celebrate

4. Christian Morality: how we live it through

everyday life and service

Children will be in mixedaged groups for some

rotations and in sameage groups for others.

WALK FOR LIFE

May 19, 2019

In the last few years more and more

of you are utilizing EFTs to donate

to our parish, either through your

bank or our website. As a result,

you have told us to discontinue

your offertory envelopes. In

addition, our administrative staff

has spent numerous hours

discontinuing envelopes for those

parishioners not using them thus

further reducing our costs. Over the

last four years, this has resulted in

an annual cost reduction from

$12,000 per year to $1,600 per year.

If you no longer need to receive

your donation envelopes,

please let us know.

Also, we can save additional funds

if you decide you no longer wish to

receive the Catholic Spirit

newspaper produced by the Diocese

of Austin.

Just send a quick email to

[email protected] or call

the office, 512.261.8500 and we will

make the requested changes.

Would you like to

save the parish money?

We value your donations

and are continually

striving to be good

stewards of your gifts.

Thank you for your

trust and support!
