To all the smoothie lovers out there, here’s a recipe book to make smoothies that protect your thyroid gland. When you do that, you speed metabolism and fat burning and you improve hair and nail growth. Your thyroid gland is the gland that warms your body up (or keeps you cold).

Whether or not you have any health problems, these recipes are going to quickly become family favorites. You are going to have a ton of fun with these recipes. Some of them have green tea, yerba mate, coconut water, matcha and fig! The recipes that you are about to experience will prove to you that healthy drinks can be delicious, and most preserve your thyroid hormone levels. By using my Thyroid Greens, you protect your iodine levels. Iodine is necessary for healthy thyroid, breast and prostate function. My ‘cook’ book is especially designed for people with thyroid issues, as well as those of you who wish to avoid thyroid issues… so basically everyone!

Thyroid Greens is a natural and thyroid-friendly goitrogen-free green powder mix. It’s gluten-free. It’s made in America. I used a natural (non GMO) mixed berry flavor that will WOW any smoothie recipe you try. Do you have to blend Thyroid Greens into a smoothie? No, you can absolutely just stir 1 scoop (which equals 1 tablespoon) into water or juice and drink. Like many of you, I consider myself a greens aficionado, and hands-down, Thyroid Greens is one of the best tasting greens out there. I know that some of those other brands, even the “amazing” or popular ones are hard to swallow. It’s like drinking freshly mowed grass, hold your nose baby!

But not with Thyroid Greens. You’ll love it. I’ve formulated Thyroid Greens in such a way that it’s actually patent-pending because it is the world’s FIRST and ONLY thyroid friendly greens drink mix. Thyroid Greens is 100% FREE of goitrogens and fluoride-free too. Fluoride also attacks thyroid levels, in case you didn’t realize.

Get adventurous yourself and try different combinations of fruits and veggies. With the first taste of any smoothie in this ebook, you will see that good health can taste great. You can impress your friends, family and kids with recipes that are packed with antioxidants, minerals and enzymes. You’ll have more energy during the day and will experience health benefits well beyond your expectations. I guarantee it!

My recipes carefully avoid goitrogenic foods which is why you will not find peaches, pears or strawberries in them. You will also not find broccoli, kale or spinach, three superfoods that can crush iodine uptake in your body when eaten raw. At the end of this ebook, you’ll find a section, “Making Your Smoothie Super,” and it’s all about tips to help you make a better smoothie.

Mixing Thyroid Greens into a fruit smoothie is just plain fun, and it’s a great way to start your day, or when you need a quick ‘pick-me-up’ anytime you’d reach for your morning java fix. Use my Thyroid Greens as a substitute for coffee, just one time and you’ll see how awesome it is. I truly hope that newbies here try my smoothies, for this is a great way to get some of you on healthy greens in a gentle, delicious way! It’s like sneaking a few extra fruits and veggies into your diet, and that improves your metabolic rate. Makes them skinny jeans fit better if you know what I mean.

One last thing, I used a Vitamix blender, which I highly recommend. I believe that the recipes will all turn out better if you use a Vitamix, but if you don’t have one, then peel your apples and blend a little bit longer.

My smoothie recipes make 2 to 3 servings depending how big your glass is. You can adjust the amounts to your taste buds. If you’re holding a luncheon, test the recipes before you make them for guests to make sure that you have enough servings, or someone might only get half a glass. That will make for a very unhappy guest and we can’t have that, can we?! Bon appétit!

Broncos Superbowl SmoothieI love my Denver Broncos and our team colors are orange and blue. So I’ve infused this with orange juice for vitamin C and blueberries for anthocyanins. It’s an antioxidant rush. I have to warn you when you blend something that is orange and blue together, your smoothie turns brown, kind of the color of a football! But it tastes delish! ○ 1 cup orange juice ○ ½ cup plain Greek yogurt ○ 1 cup blueberries, frozen if possible ○ 1 tablespoon grated orange zest ○ 1 scoop Thyroid Greens

Michele’s Mojito Smoothie I’m not a big drinker, but I love the flavors in this mojito-inspired smoothie that my friend Michele whipped up for us. One sip and you will scream “Hey yawl it’s happy hour on the deck!” Drink this and let me know what sun-soaked daydream you come up with! ○ 1 cup coconut water ○ Juice from 1 lime (about 2 tablespoons) ○ 1 & 1/2 cups frozen pineapple ○ 1 large cucumber, trimmed (peel is fine) ○ 10 leaves of fresh mint ○ 1 scoop Thyroid Greens

Making Your Smoothie Super

○ Peel bananas and keep them in your freezer in a zip bag. They add a fluffy, creamy element to every smoothie with a healthful pack of potassium!

○ I used a Vitamix, but if you don’t have one, chop your fruits and vegetables, even bananas or they may get stuck and your blender’s motor. Then your blender will not be happy with you and it’ll start smoking. Okay maybe I’m exaggerating.

○ Always add liquid ingredients first because it is easier on your blender’s motor.

○ Papayas are kind of ugly when they’re ripe. They’re yellowish and sometimes lightly scarred or bruised. You can always buy a green (unripe) one and let it ripen on your counter. Ask your produce grocer if you aren’t sure which one to buy. Sometimes you can buy them already cut and in a plastic container. Same with pineapples, which are super hard to cut.

○ If your life is hectic, and you like to shop at places like Costco, they have a nice selection of frozen fruits like organic cherries, pineapple, mixed berries and blueberries in their freezer section. Also, Farmer’s Markets have fresh, local organic produce and that’s another nice way to get fruit and vegetables, while supporting local.

○ Freeze coconut water in ice cube trays, then store the frozen cubes in zip bags. Throw a few into your blender any time you want an icy boost of nutrients!

○ I try to use real, fresh fruit and veggies instead of juice whenever possible. Juices, especially fruit juices, are often glorified liquid sugar, whereas whole fruits and veggies often contain more vitamins, nutrients and fiber. If you buy organic apples or cucumbers, you can include the peel if you want to. Keep in mind, the peel will ‘disintegrate’ better in a Vitamix. You may want to peel everything if you use a regular blender.

○ Chia seeds can make your smoothies more fun and nutritious! None of my recipes included them because they require a bit of thinking. They’re loaded with protein, fiber, and nutrients like calcium, omega-3s, potassium and magnesium. To chia-up any of my smoothie recipes, first stir a tablespoon of dry chia seeds in some warm water. Let them rest for 10-15 minutes, until the “gel” coating forms around the seeds. Pour some of the chia jelly into the bottom of your empty glass. Then top off with any smoothie. Pour the prepared smoothie very slowly over a spoon so it doesn’t disturb the chia at the bottom of your glass.

If you’re in a hurry, sprinkle chia seeds on top of your smoothie just before consuming, or grinding your chia seeds right into your vitamix, along with a scoop of my Thyroid Greens. One word of warning if you decide to choose the powder option: your smoothie will quickly turn from a thick liquid into an almost-solid! So sip fast! Maybe add extra liquid too.

○ Garnishing your smoothie adds that piece de resistance, you know the finishing touch of visual appeal! You can get creative here, try shaved chocolate, or crushed walnuts. You can add shaved coconut on top, even toast it… you can slice a wedge of lemon, lime or orange. Make it pretty folks! Make someone want to grab it and savor it. Some easy and quick garnishes include fresh sprigs of mint, cilantro or edible flowers.

○ Why not use a cute straw? The kiddos love straws. Or a beautiful parfait glass or even a martini glass, hey hey!

○ In Colorado, the weather forces you to layer. I am a fan of layering clothes. It’s made me want to layer my life! So why not layer your smoothies? Layering them is absolutely beautiful. It requires some thought because the ‘thicker’ smoothie needs to go on the bottom. You can use a little less liquid for the bottom layer smoothie, and then pour the complementing color on top. If I was going to layer two smoothies from my own cook book here, I would put the Berrylicious on the bottom, and the Matcha Mint Dream on top.

○ I absolutely love avocados. Do not be afraid of avocados in your smoothie. If you add half of one to any smoothie, it will give you glutathione, a liver antioxidant that helps neutralize free radicals. There is no taste unless you’re using older very ripe ones, which I don’t recommend.

Avocados add a feeling of creaminess to the mouth consistency, and a healthy fat. Now, if you find that your smoothie becomes too thick, just add a bit more liquid (water, dairy milk, almond milk, juice, coconut water, whatever), and another ice cube or two and you should be fine.

○ Probiotics. Yes! Add a capsule of any probiotic to your smoothie at the end if possible so you don’t spin it too hard. My Vitamix spins so hard, and so fast it could ‘kill’ the little organisms so to speak… so I recommend you add the probiotic right at the end, to any smoothie. It will not affect taste at all. Just FYI, Thyroid Greens contains Bacillus Coagulans, a probiotic strain that is known to survive stomach acid, so you don’t have to add any more probiotics unless you want to. They are good for you, it’s a consideration.
