needs. Great Plains offers a

complete line of products to

meet those needs whether it

is conventional tillage, vertical

tillage, or some combination

of both. You can depend on

time, you can virtually eliminate

leaching and denitrification.

The Great Plains Nutri-Pro® and

Sprayer lines are the perfect

solution to help you increase

utilization while reducing costs.

SEED PLACEMENTTo maximize yield, three things

must be done well: seed

spacing, seed depth, and

seed-to-soil contact without

sidewall compaction. Great

designed and built using these

principles. Again, no matter

what your farming practices,

we have the right seeding

configuration to achieve a

uniform stand in a variety of

crops. We are the seed place-

ment specialists!

SROCKING BOLSTER - Patent-pending rocking bolster-type center frame keeps all center frame wheels on the ground, all the time, regardless of terrain.

WALKING TANDEMS - Cutting-edge materials and state-of-the-art seals allow this pivot to be maintenance-free.

HEAVY-DUTY SPRING TINE HARROW - Three-position adjustable heavy-duty spring tines allow the operator choices in tine angle. Longer tines increase trash flow.

FLOATING HITCH - Allows implement to negotiate undulations independently of the tractor for bet-ter ground gauging and depth control.

Ultra-Chisel™

The Great Plains Ultra-Chisel™ brings a new definition to the “chisel plow”. Its unique floating hitch design provides maximum ground-following capabilities to ensure constant working depth in the most adverse conditions. Combine this with 900 lb. trip force shanks and the producer has unmatched soil-fracturing potential to a working depth of 8". The Ultra-Chisel, available in widths from 21' to 33', will bring even the largest fields down-to-size in a short amount of time.

In today’s environment, soil and residue management are vital to maximizing yields. The Ultra-Chisel provides producers with a unique tool to fracture the soil above 8" to remove density layers while leaving the residue mixed at the surface to reduce wind erosion and assist with water infiltration. Ultra-Chisel has all of the features and benefits to truly redefine “chisel plow”.

The innovative Great Plains Short Disk™ combines European-style parallel gangs with the demands of rugged North American terrain to provide a consistent, high-speed primary tillage tool. While traditional short disks utilize 18-20" diameter disc blades, the aggressive Short Disk is designed to endure high-residue field conditions with 24" diameter discs to cut the ground up to 7" deep, maximizing trash flow and leaving a smooth finish on both the top and bottom.

With the speed and maneuverability of European disks, the Short Disk accurately follows uneven ground contours for consistent performance in varying field conditions. Its roller adjusts hydraulically from the tractor cab to either increase or decrease the consolidation pressure to firm the soil to the desired degree. In contrast to other parallel gang machines, the Short Disk’s blades split center, throwing out from the front and in from the back, to prevent “dog tracking” and ensure a consistent cutout throughout the field.

The Short Disk also features exclusive PEER® Maintenance-Free Tapered-Roller Bearing Hubs with 6-lip cassette seals per disk, as well as PEER® TILLXTREME® Maintenance-Free Bearings in the rolling attachments, extending the life of the bearings and reducing maintenance costs.

MAINTENANCE-FREE WALKING AXLES - Require no maintenance yet provide a stable ride and accurate depth control.

LARGE SEALED BEARINGS – Maintenance-Free hubs with "matched" tapered bearings.

SD3300 - Available May 2015

CONSOLIDATION WHEELS –Create a fine finish while consolidating the ground just below the surface.

INDIVIDUAL DISC MOUNTS – Offer more space between discs for excellent trash flow and better performance in wet conditions.

VERTICAL TILLAGE

• Horizontal tillage leaves yield-robbing density-change layers in the soil.

• Roots in a top, lower-density layer are turned sideways when a higher- density layer is encountered.

• Vertical tillage leaves a uniform, unrestricted soil profile that promotes maximum root development and increased yields.

• Plants raised in a vertical tillage system are more drought resistant, reach and utilize more nutrients, and have greater standability due to healthier stalks and root systems.

• Vertical tillage INCREASES YIELDS!

- Finishing tool that levels the soil without using sweeps. This tool evenly distributes residue and levels the field without causing a density change that can discourage root growth. The Ultra-Till performs best when following some form of heavier tillage.

- Designed for the corn-on-corn producers to loosen all root balls, size residue, and leave the ground level enough for one pass in the spring. Coulters run up to 4" deep and shanks up to 12".

- Eliminates compaction layers and soil density changes in one pass. Choice of no-till or straight leg shanks.

Taking Vertical Tillageto the Max

Turbo-Max® brings true vertical tillage to new heights! The ability to provide unmatched seedbeds through aggressive ground leveling and weed removal, enhanced residue sizing, and unsurpassed residue coverage makes Turbo-Max truly unique in the industry today. Most farmers have understood the benefits of true vertical tillage for several years, but have needed a way to address uneven fields caused by sprayer, combine, or grain cart tracks, and better residue coverage to help eliminate wind erosion.

Turbo-Max, with its 7-1/2" blade spacing and hydraulically-adjustable gang angle from 0° to 6°, continues to work in a vertical plane through all aspects of operation, providing the answer to today’s producers looking for all of the advantages of true vertical tillage in one piece of equipment. Turbo-Max is the result of Great Plains’ commitment to provide equipment that fulfills customers’ needs while remaining agronomically sound, producing the best environment for maximum yields.

The Series II Turbo-Till® builds on the solid reputation of theoriginal Turbo-Till as the most versatile vertical tillage toolavailable. It utilizes two ranks of our exclusive Turbo Coulters to aggressively chop residue without hairpinning. Turbo-Till effectively manages residue and reduces compaction in a wide range of conditions, providing a consistent, well-prepared seedbed for planting.

Improvements to the Series II include 3" C-shanks and

PEER® Maintenance-Free Bearings.

Current uses include warming and drying cool wet soils, incorporating animal waste, and preparing a smooth, level seedbed for planting. Turbo-Till, available in sizes from 12' to 40', is also an excellent fall tool to size and incorporate residue to promote the decaying process.

DROP AXLE - The greaseless anti-rotational pivot pin virtually eliminates wear in the drop axle pivot.

TURBO COULTER - The turbo design allows the blade flute to attack the residue vertically, provid-ing improved cutting, penetration, and decreased hairpinning.

Rolling Harrow & Reel

TURBO-TILL - Turbo Coult-ers combined with patented rolling spike harrows, create a smooth, level surface on top of the ground and at the planting depth, ensuring the planter runs smoothly and seed is precisely placed into a firm seedbed for quick emergence.

SPRING COULTERS - Spring coulter machines raise and lower (vibrate) as soil density changes, leaving a rough, uneven sub-sur-face. A planter following a spring coulter machine has a tough time placing seed accurately.

CONCAVE FLUTED COULTERS - Concave fluted coulters/disks may look like Turbo Coulters, but move soil horizontally, causing compaction. Concave blades running at an angle cause ridging at high speeds. The uneven sub-surface results in poor seed placement and emergence.

ROLLING SPIKE HARROW - Loosens, levels, and breaks up clods. This attachment puts the “finish-ing touch” on the perfect seedbed.

CHOPPER BLADES - The angled chopper blades run perpendicularly to the Turbo Blades, ensuring complete and thorough chopping of the residue and a profile that is level and uniform to the depth of the front coulters.

The Turbo-Chopper® from Great Plains combines our aggressive Turbo Blades with the action of a turbo-patterned chopper reel. This allows for a “crisscross” pattern for chopping residue and working the soil, while still maintaining the benefits of vertical tillage. This unit offers the versatility of a fall tillage tool, combined with its use as a spring tillage unit for seedbed preparation. The “crisscross” pattern of this unit allows aggressive, uniform residue sizing. The Turbo Coulters are 20" in diameter with 10" spacing, followed by the 18" diameter chopper reels. Both gangs of coulter and chopper reels are mounted

on heavy 3" C-shanks with maintenance-free 211 bearings.

The 18" chopper reels consist of six 4-1/2" high carbon steel blades. The unique spiral design allows constant contact with the soil to maximize cutting and reduce the vibration experienced with competitive reels. The chopper reels work perpendicularly to the Turbo Coulters, providing a smooth seedbed for your planter. Our patented rolling harrow and reel combination is the recommended rear attachment for the ultimate seedbed for your planter.

ROLLING HARROW MODULES - Prepare the perfect seedbed by leveling the ground and crushing the clods.

Ultra-Till® by Great Plains is yet another innovative option in the “systems” approach to vertical tillage. It is intended for secondary field operations and one-pass field finishing prior to planting. The Ultra-Till can be compared to a field finisher or cultivator, but with one major difference. Because it’s not equipped with shank-mounted sweeps, it will not create yield-robbing horizontal soil density layers. It is these compacted layers that roots have trouble penetrating.

The Ultra-Till can be equipped with low-concavity disc blades or our exclusive Turbo Coulters on the front to effectively cut residue into manageable pieces and loosen the seedbed soil. Blade depth is controlled hydraulically. Following the front coulters or disc blades are two rows of opposing rolling harrow gangs, angled at 30°. The rear gangs move the residue back into place, leaving a smooth, firm surface for a perfect seedbed.

Every farming operation has different and diverse needs, and, at times, conventional tillage equipment is the best solution. We have focused our conventional tillage line around dependability and unconventional features that distinguish our products from the competition.

Our Disk Harrows incorporate features such as hydraulic leveling, tension nuts on each end of the gang bolts, and heavy-duty C-shanks with maintenance-free 211 bearings. These key features are just a few examples of benefits that provide the user with the best performing, most reliable disk in the industry.

Our secondary and finish tools include the versatile Disc-O-Vator® and Field Cultivator. Both feature the Max-MixTM Shank pattern. This exclusive pattern ensures that no shank is closer than 28" on an individual bar. Soil is moved

one direction, then returned, providing excellent residue distribution and superior herbicide incorporation.

The Disc-O-Vator also utilizes a single row of low-concavity disc blades or our exclusive Turbo Coulter. The Turbo Coulter allows the tool to operate in higher residue situations, and at higher speeds, sizing the residue for better flow through the shanks.

Our finishing tools include the Seedbed Conditioner. This tool crumbles clods and firms the seedbed to create the perfect planting environment.

The Plains Plow is a specialty tool aimed at wheat-producing states. It kills weeds, while leaving the stubble on the surface.

Every Great Plains conventional tillage tool is field proven and has the reputation of being at the “top of their class”.

HEAVIER SPOOLS - The ductile cast spools used on the Great Plains Disk are among the heaviest in the industry. At 23.55 lbs, they put more weight closer to the ground. The result is better penetration, plus longer bearing and stan-dard life. Ductile cast spools also resist breakage and collapsing compared to steel pipe-style spacers. These spools are a full 6.5" in diameter – as much as 1'' larger than some competitors’. This gives more support to the center of the blade, reducing blade breakage.

Several changes and enhance-ments were made to the 8000 Series Field Cultivator to make a good unit even better! Shank spacing throughout the ma-chine, especially around tires, has been improved, ensuring no shanks are closer than 28". The hinges and fold system have also been “beefed up”, making folding and unfolding smoother and more reliable. Heavier 6-bolt hubs are used in all locations on all models and

the tongue is now low pro-file and “single pole” to allow tighter turns without interfer-ence with the tractor‘s 3-point hitch quick coupler. On floating hitch models, the wing wheels are moved back for better bal-ance and allow heavier harrow attachments without hav-ing negative tongue weight. Caster wheel design has been improved for better reliability and the pivot points are now maintenance free.

Benefits

Lister Cultivator 30 | 31

The Lister Cultivator is built in the spirit of other Great Plains equipment with a focus on innovation, functionality, and toughness.

The LC40 Lister Cultivator combines a stack-fold toolbar with versatile parallel linkage row units. The new LC25 utilizes the same row units in a narrower, non-folding frame. The parallel linkage and depth band coulters allow for precise depth gauging on individual rows. The row units can be configured to 30", 36", 38", and 40" row spacings. Users can configure it as a lister or turn it into a row-crop cultivator with rear sweeps.

Additional benefits include:

• Thicker mainframe walls for long-term durability• Laser-cut depth gauges for precise row unit depth gauging• Wider depth-gauging coulter mountings for added strength and stability• Triple-bar center frame support for greater reliability

Like all Great Plains equipment, the LC40 and LC25 are designed to provide precise, reliable performance in building, maintaining, and/or cultivating bedded ground.

Add a Great Plains Precision Seedbed Conditioner to your present finishing tool to prepare the perfect seedbed by firming the soil, reducing air pockets, incorporating chemicals, breaking up surface clods, knocking soil off root crowns, and preventing wind and water erosion in one pass. Create an unmatched seedbed that places the finer particles of soil in the planting zone, allowing perfect seed-to-soil contact to boost the emergence of your crop. All reel sections overlap for superior finish and no streaking. Wings flex up and down 15°, allowing the conditioner to follow the contour of the ground, providing flexibility like no other.

• Optional hydraulic weight transfer assures even weight on all sections in rolling terrain. • One hydraulic circuit controls lifting, folding, and weight transfer for ease of operation. • Hitch length adjusts to match the host machine for optimal turning radius. • Triple lip sealed bearing with 1-1/2"-round gang shafts on every section. • Heavy-duty design offers up to 150 pounds of weight per foot for increased clod and root ball breakage.

The Great Plains Heavy-Duty Flex Harrow is the toughest finishing harrow on the market! We use a triangle design with a full-length tongue, height-adjustable hitch, and doubled-up bridge frame for rigidity. The center frame is all 1/4" wall steel, making it perfect for nearly any terrain. The wings are constructed of 6" square tubing with reinforced corners. For longer life and wear, our 1-1/2" pivot pins are featured on the main pivot and wing corners. Extra-large cylinders with single valve control provide

lifting and folding power – even in heavy residue. Cable lift is automatic – no need to get off the tractor to adjust. The main hubs are 8-bolt, 4500# with 12.5Lx15 transport tires. Wing tires are non-puncture aircraft tires for longer stability and reliability. Available as a 16-, 12-, or 8-bar.

When looking for the ideal “clod busting” finishing tool, the Great Plains HD Flex Harrow is the perfect finisher. Its strength and simplicity are unmatched!
