227 DRAFT EWES Similar entry and another very fast trade and a lot more could have been sold. Top on the day was £125 from G & S Whiting of Fursdon Farm, Liskeard, followed by Tom Earl of Ethy Barton, St Winnow who realised £118 for his 1st pen.

283 FAT LAMBS The trade is getting stronger by the day overall average on the day was 242.8p up around £10 to £12 ahead. The good meat lambs ranging from 250p to a top of 261p for a pen of Texel x 44kgs £115 from Kayleigh Dawe of Whitstone, followed by Jason Kestell of Launceston 259p for a pen 44kgs £114. Heavies very much in demand top call was £132 from H Cobbledick of Jacobstowe, followed by the Abel Bros of Tavistock for their 3 pens of heavies which made £117 and £114 x2.

342 STORE LAMBS Smaller entry and a flying trade top being £97 from Godfrey & Owen Davey of Heath Park, Bratton Clovelly, there were 14 other pens which realised £89-£94. 505 BREEDING EWES & EWE LAMBS A much faster trade for everything on offer and a total clearance was achieved, Richard Grigg of Kyrse, Treneglos topped the Suffolk x 2T at £158. Paul Webber of Ashleigh, Lifton sold two pens of Texel x 2T at £162. George Williams of St Kew topped the Texel x Ewe Lambs at £112. H Banbury of Dowland topped the FM Mules at £138 for two pens. 72 STOCK RAMS

57 sold good entry and a very strong trade. Clifford Dennis of North Tawton topped the day and had a total clearance, 2x £500, 1x £460, 2x £410. Jack Neale & Sons of Wilkey Down topped the Texels at £410 and another at £400. Just a handful of Suffolks on offer topping at £400 for a shearling from Ian Braund of Whitstone.

STORE CATTLE

350 Cattle through the Store ring at Hallworthy on the second really wet day of the week, which

will impact the lesser Cattle pre housing, but the best cattle still a stunning trade. Liz Richards

stealing the trade today with a powerful run of South Devon x Cattle, her best a black South Devon

Steer with a carcase and shape to £1375, second a pair of South Devon Steers deep and well

fleshed at 22months to £1335 and £1330, with 18 month South Devon x to £1320. Next Ant Hart

of St Blazey with a Simmental x Steer at 16 months with power and depth to £1340, close a pure

Simmental Steer at the same age to £1335. J Vokes back in with a stunning pair of Limousin x

Steers with great carcase and outlook to £1200. K Larson of Blisland next with a powerful pen of

four 20 month Limousin x Steers to £1175. Mr Stevens of Liskeard ran in next with a very smart

pen of 7 pure bred Shorthorn Steers at 24 months to £1145. M Biddick of St Wenn saw his best

Charolais x Steer at 16 months to £1100. The Chapman Family of Blackwater saw their front end of

29 Cattle to £1095 for a pen of Limousin x Steers.

Heifers were fewer in number again this week with Mr George Cowling of St Issey topping with an

outstanding run of 16 month Charolais x Heifers, 39 Cattle topped out at £1070 and several

bunches between £900 and £1000. F R Chapman next with a superb pair of Aberdeen Angus

Heifers to £1055 and a pen of six Limousin x to £1005.

Younger Cattle

Ant Hart stealing the show with a super pair of purebred Sim Steers at 11 months to £1130 and Mr

Teague & Son of Coombe, St Austell seeing his 13 month Pure Hereford Steers to £1000.

Breeding Sale

A small dispersal of Pedigree Hereford Cows and Calves from Miss N Sanders of St Neot saw her best

STIRK REPORT

Not quite so many about in the Stirk pens, but a respectable entry of 63 Stirks which seemed to still sell to a premium, top of the day was £650 for some Hereford Steers 10 months old, with Simmentals of the same age to £640, other younger Steers £590 for Herefords, with the best of the Heifers to £620 for Simmentals, £510 and £500 for their Herefords (10m). Chris Roose back again with the best of his Herefords to £620 (10m), and a sweet Limousin Heifer to £505 (9m).

REARING CALF REPORT

Good numbers still coming forward in the Calf section, thank you to all vendors supporting the new section. Alan and Kevin Sanders of Minster back again with a wonderful consignment of young sappy calves and were well rewarded by making £380 of their Blue Bulls with others to £360, £358, £340 and £325, with the best of their Heifers to £300 (1m), £295, £250 and £205 all around a month old. The best of his Herefords went on to make £225 and £220 for his Bulls and the Heifers to £210 and £170. A T Bayly of Warbstow had three smart Calves in which topped out at £340 for a Limmy Bull, £270 for another Limmy Bull and his Lim Heifer at the same money. Younger Blues sold to £228 for Heifers in from Raymond Quinn and the Rail Family had their Blue Bulls to £225. George Parsons had some older nearly weaned Calves which were slightly harder to place and made £290, £260 and £245.
