What a fantastic week it has been at Herne Hill
Primary School. Students and staff have
enjoyed the warmer weather and have engage
in some great learning experiences within and
beyond the classroom. Students have been
busy this week completing many assessments
as we move into the reporting processes. It
has been fantastic to hear about the individual
achievements of the students and celebrate
their growth in learning across all curriculum
areas. TWILIGHT FAIR Last Friday afternoon we held our annual ‘Twilight Fair’. This was a fantastic night with loads of food, rides, dancing, stalls and entertainment. It was great to see our school and wider community coming together and enjoying this evening. Thanks again to all the dedicated and hard working parents who organised and contributed to event and to parents and staff for their support on the evening. PARENT FORUM The final parent forum for the school year will be held on Monday 4th of December following assembly. The focus of this meeting will be on student leadership and we hope as many parents as possible are able to attend. Thanks to the parents who have attended these meetings, as your contributions and feedback have been valued and appreciated. PLANNING FOR 2018 Planning for 2018 is now well underway. If you currently have a child/ren attending Herne Hill Primary School in grades Prep-5 who will not be attending here in 2018 please advise the office by tomorrow, Friday November 24th. STAFF CAR PARK For safety reasons, it is important that parents and community members are not accessing the staff carpark before, during or after school hours. These parks need to be available for staff who are leaving and returning to school for curricular activities and meetings throughout the day. It is important also that the traffic in this area is limited for the safety of the children and the community. Please use other designated parking areas around the school.

This is extremely important for the academic and social success of students as they move through the school. If your child is absent from school, please contact the school through either diary, phone call or in person to inform us of the reason. If further support is needed, please contact the school for assistance.
TABLOID SPORTS
It was great to see all our P-2 students
enjoying the tabloid sports on Monday
afternoon. Despite the warmer weather and
adjustments to some activities, the students
participated with enthusiasm and obviously
enjoyed the afternoon of activities. It was
fantastic to see many families supporting the
afternoon and becoming involved in this
community event.
PREP TRANSITION
Our new prep students had their last transition
session at Herne Hill Primary School this week.
It was great to witness these students getting
into school routines and how they developed
over the three weeks of transition. We look
forward to formally welcoming them to Herne
Hill in 2018.

There are no special requirements for this experience. Thank you, Karla Gilbert Performing Arts Specialist
Grade 5/6S doing some Statistics and Probability work outside school, counting vehicles. They were amazed at the amount of traffic we have outside our school, and the different types of
vehicles that can go past in a 15 minute time frame. Some great data was
collected to use within our Maths class, and also had students thinking about road safety outside of our school.

Students this week have been learning across different curricular areas with STEAM projects. Grade 1/2's have combined maths and art to make an artwork with shape symmetry and pattern. Today students explored printing with leaves on paper and using pressure and heat to create a natural dye. This process of dyeing is usually done on fabric.
Grade 3/4/5's project is designing and making string art. Students used a compass and ruler to create a geometric design. Their designs could be symmetrical or asymmetrical. The next step will be measuring where their pins should go and creating patterns with string.
