The GOP hopes it's cracked the abortion  code by pushing to ban the procedure after 20 weeks of

pregnancy; buried in this article, however, is the fundamental [and unanswered] conflict with the

trimester-model of Roe [along with the absence of science supporting the pain-related theory], and it is

unclear why “federalism” should suddenly be abandoned philosophically by pro-lifers [GOP 2014 Victory

Triggers Pro-Life Legislation in States]. Note the attractiveness of the unrefuted perspectives articulated

by Senators Mark Kirk of Illinois and Dean Heller of Nevada.

Heller “may or may not support” a 20-week ban but sees no reason to make it a priority:

“I’m pro-life, but we have a libertarian streak back in Nevada; abortion lawmaking is

important to some people, and I recognize that and respect that, but I’m here on

economic issues.” 

Kirk [up for reelection in a blue state in 2016 and, thus subject to scrutiny regarding

social-issues] said he’s sure to vote against the bill: “I’ve been supporting a woman’s

right to choose throughout my time in public life. I want to make su re that we don’t

overturn Roe v. Wade and make sure that decision rests with each American woman.” 

Pope Francis makes Democrats Squirm and Republicans Wriggle, having changed the tone and culture

[not the doctrines] of the Roman Catholic Church in less than two years; conservatives are apprehensive

because he stresses poverty and income inequality more than the social issues that have dominated

much of the Catholic debate in America. The Pope said Islamist Terrorism Result of 'Deviant Religion,' 

sure to invite invective from the Islamists; presumably, he was citing the “Medina” half of the Qu’ran. 

Regarding other national-issues, Petraeus has retained his security clearance and even

has served as an unofficial adviser to the White House on Iraq and Syria while the FBI's

investigation remained open; if Petraeus was such a risk, it is unclear why he has been

allowed to retain access to them while the FBI conducted a probe lasting more than two

lib as being “a war-weary, die-hard pacifist who favors concession over battle regardless

of where it is in the world…a position that is at-odds with Israel’s best-interests], noting

Q: Has TPP tried to discern how many Congress-People have committed to

standing-firm against funding DHS even if non-essential services would be shut-down in

the process?

A: Focus is in Senate, recognizing that votes on key-amendments will occur within

a few days; this constitutes a high-priority work-in-progress.

Regarding Illegals, the Republican-led House is poised to pass legislation [H.R. 240] unraveling Obama's

executive actions on immigration (tied to a must-pass funding bill for the Department of Homeland

Security), a plan that tacks significantly to the right of what had been under consideration last week;

Senate “moderates”  [Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.D.), Angus King (I-Maine), Mark Kirk (R-Ill.), Jon Tester (D-

Mont.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.)+ don’t like linking the issue with a must-pass bill to fund domestic

security programs, worried that a stalemate could shut down the Department of Homeland Security. 

The opposition from these key senators makes it almost certain that the plan would fail to gain the 60

votes needed to break a Democratic filibuster ... 'I think the defunding action leads us to a potential

government shutdown scenario, which is a self-inflicted political wound for Republicans,' said Sen. Mark

Kirk, a moderate Illinois Republican facing reelection in 2016. 'I don't want to,' West Virginia Sen. Joe

Manchin, a Democrat who has opposed Obama's executive action on immigration, said when asked if

he'd back the House's approach.

There will apparently be  three amendments  offered on the floor of the House. Rep.

Martha Roby Admitted Her Bill Does Not Stop Amnesty; by voting for the "Cromnibus,"

Rep. Roby voted to fund Obama’s amnesty in its entirety through the end of February,

when the DHS appropriation expires. Through the "CRomnibus" she voted to fund many,

if not most, of Obama's amnesty processes for the rest of the fiscal year. Her bill, HR 31,

does nothing except stop the future actions of one part of Obama's government-wide

scheme to grant amnesty to millions of illegal aliens. H.R. 190 [co-sponsored inter alia

by Reps. Aderholt-Mulvaney-Barletta] is stronger, inter alia  not providing support for

the Executive Amnesty; the third [Blackburn] amendment is strongest, intended to

attack Sanctuary Cities and to reverse priority for Honduras, Costa Rica and El Salvador[DACA]. These issues have currency, inasmuch as the latest manifestation of BHO’s

Catch and Release program entails Tearing-down Immigration Enforcement;  training

documents from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) reveal Border Patrol agents

are now receiving guidelines instructing them that the vast majority of illegal immigrants

in the U.S. are off limits to federal agents and are substantially immune to detention and

deportation.

In England, FARAGE DOUBLED-DOWN, claiming ‘TAXPAYER-FUNDED MULTICULTURALISM’ HAS HURT

EUROPE; also, there have been Calls for Resignation of the BBC Reporter [Tim Willcox] Accused of Anti-

Semitism after he told the daughter of holocaust survivors live on air that “Palestinians suffer hugely at

Jewish hands as well.” 

Melanie Phillips *who spoke eloquently @ Penn’s Hillel ~ a half -decade ago] has

analyzed the impact of  The Paris Massacre on the West, thusly. There has been no free

media expression about Islam ever since the 1989 Iranian  fatwa calling for the murder

didn’t need to go to Paris because the US Military speaks for him']  that failed to resonate;  SECRET

SERVICE WAS ALREADY ON GROUND IN PARIS. 

In an opinion-piece that mirrored conclusions drawn during FNC’s “Special Report”

discussion of the “All-Stars,” It was therefore opined that Obama Watched Football

Instead of Going to Paris  because, after sitting-out the "#HandsUpDontShoot" and

"#BlackLivesMatter" demonstrations, Obama and Holder were not going to be caught

on camera attending a "#JeSuisCharlie" rally in Paris, no matter how many other world

leaders were going to be there in solidarity with the French people, with the Jewish

people, or with freedom of expression in general; Obama has cultivated a sense of racialangst in America that constrains his political choices.
