This presentation is about five popular games which were played in Spain when we were a bit younger.
The colours have been chosen to represent girls and boys (pink and blue) which were the typical colours they used to represent them in those days.
Today some of them are rarely played in playgrounds at schools and others have almost disappeared.
Well, all of you know that we are students of English and it´s difficult for us to speak this language so be patient please and have a nice time with us.
THE SHOW IS ABOUT TO START

HOPSCOTCHEL TRUEQUE
Girls and boys played this game in the street during all
the year.Age of participants: 8,9,10…
They had to paint a particular design with a piece of chalk
on the floor.By turns they threw the stone inside the design. If the stone went out, you lost your turn.
After putting the stone inside, you had to jump with an only foot or two: reaching
the top in order to rest, coming back to the first
position.
The winner was the one who made all the
steps without throwing out
the stone.

The target of the game is to get
“seven and a half”.
We need 3 coins and we have to paint a design on the floor.
By turns the coin is thrown onto the
design.

THE TOPSLAS CHAPAS
The winner is the one who gets first to the finishing line.Boys used to paint the tops with football players’ or famous cyclists’
faces.
This is a cheap game indeed since you only need tops or caps from bottles to play it.
You have to design a circuit on the pavement with a piece of
chalk. The most important thing is to design it with a lot of
bends, narrowings, straight lines and obstacles to jump
over. The players place their tops on
the starting line and each player has to throw the top with their
fingers. If a top leaves the circuit you
must go back to the point of throwing.
When a top pushes away another one the player is
thrown out.

SKIPPING THE ROPELA COMBA
This game is very easy. We just need a group of
friends and a rope.
Everybody is on a line prepared to skip. Two people hold the rope hanging from both ends moving the rope
in circles.
The rest of the people skip over the rope singing a
song.

MAKING STRING FIGURES
We need a string or an elastic band. This game is played in pairss.
We make a knot with the string. The game consists of making string figures.
The pair who make all the figures in the shortest period of time, win the game.
Every figure has its name. The first one is called: the cat´s cradle; the second one is the diamond; the third one, the candles and so on and so forth

THE CHINESE
LOS CHINOS
The game consists of guessing the total
number of coins that some players –at least
two- keep in their closed hands.
Every player uses three coins.
This game, apart from being a gambling
game; is used as a way to decide who pays for the drinks” in a bar or
things like that.
Children are supposed to bet only marbles or some picture cards.

MARBLESLAS CANICAS
If they are successful trying to put the marble into the hole, they take for them the rest of the marbles on the ground and they can shoot again.
We need a group of friends and of course, marbles. We need also a flat place to play, then we make a hole on the ground about 10 x10cms. It´s important to agree on the rules before starting. We can play for keeping marbles
that you win or for friends.
You keep all of your marbles at the end of the game. Players take turns shooting marbles pinching them un their index fingers and flicking them with their thumbs.
