Greetings,We have had an extremely successful and exciting year thus far, with a number of programs and community service events. Some of which include Popsicle Pop-
Up, participation in the Alzheimer’s Walk of Lansing, Kampus Konfidential, Operation Backpack, and our very own
Phamily Reunion Picnic. We also received the opportunity to attend Undergraduate Round-
Up for the Gracious Great Lakes region, where we mixed and mingled with other members of our illustrious sisterhood. In addition, we discussed the latest protocol and key program targets. As the semester goes on, we will continue to follow in the direction of our International President Dorothy Buckhanan Wilson by “Launching New Dimensions of Service” through initiatives in our target areas.
Our mission is to continue to serve Michigan State University’s campus and the greater Lansing community. In doing so, we will strengthen our bond and relationships amongst one another. I am most proud of our presence on campus and community engagement. The Distinguished Delta Zeta Chapter is filled with incredible leaders and advocates, which aide our mission in being a “Service to All Mankind.”
I hope you enjoy the remainder of this newsletter and become a frequent reader of the Ivy Report!
All the Best,Briayna MilesPresident

Popsicle Pop-Up: A Cool Spartan WelcomeIn an effort to welcome
new and returning Spartans to campus, the members of the Distinguished Delta Zeta Chapter greeted the first day of classes with a Popsicle Pop-Up stand.
Located at the corner of Farm Lane and Shaw, the event encouraged students to melt away East Lansing’s humid weather and classroom anxiety
with refreshing frozen treats and conversation.
The popsicles were paired with bright smiles and upbeat music as Delta Zeta wished classmates a great first day and successful semester. Besides a new school year, the Popsicle Pop-Up marked the beginning of a new semester filled with service and programs from Delta Zeta.

With everyone well into the semester and adjusting to classes, the pretty ladies of the Distinguished Delta Zeta chapter decided to have pillow talk with girls around campus at Kampus Konfidential. This event was meant to be a comfortable space for ladies to come in their pajamas and open up in a very konfidential setting.
The ladies were welcomed to discuss any and everything including what’s been troubling them thus far all the while snacking on comfort
foods. Groups were formed so that the ladies could bond by putting on skits that addressed controversial topics in which we all face on a daily basis. These topics included relationship drama, racism, public appearance, and more.
Michigan State University student organizations were also in attendance including Curl Friends, Daughters of the Collective, Dream Team, When Queens Link Up and Successful Black Women. Each organization held a spot
on the panel for an open discussion to answer questions that the ladies had in mind. The panel did their best to guide them and give advice in response to the “sticky” situations that they shared with the rest of the group.
The night ended with a pajama fashion show and an open circle discussion. Everyone departed with at least one new friend, and a copy of their own “Kampus Konfidential” resource guide! The lovely ladies of the Distinguished Delta Zeta Chapter had a blast
putting on their first program of the year with plenty of more to come.

Operation BackpackBy: Micah Davis
What better way to kick-off the semester than with service relating to back-to-school festivities? That’s why the ladies of the Distinguished Delta Zeta Chapter decided to bring in the semester with Operation Backpack, a school supply drive benefiting children in the surrounding areas of Michigan State University.
There were over 100 backpacks and variety of school supplies donated to students at Cavanaugh and Riddle Elementary, located right in East Lansing. In addition to concrete supplies, over $600 dollars was raised in monetary donations.
Dedicating about eight hours to service at the local Walmart in Eastwood Towne Center certainly paid off. The Chapter was able to assist
children in starting off the school year in a positive way while sticking to one of the sororities’ targets, Educational Enrichment.
Under Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated the Distinguished Delta Zeta Chapter is continuously focusing on Launching New Dimensions of Service and uplifting those in the community by being of service to all mankind.
The ladies of the Distinguished Delta Zeta Chapter attended the Great Lakes Region Undergraduate Round-up September 23rd-24th. Among them were other chapters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated hosted by Madam Regional Director, Toni S. Kendrick.
There were various opportunities for undergraduate Sorors from the Great Lakes Region to get together, bond off of their sisterhood and also even make connections. They discussed community service ideas, sisterly relations and the initiative regarding Historically Black College and Universities. In addition to those ideas, there was a discussion on how to better educate people on the issue of hazing.
Among many other
things, the main topic of discussion was this year’s presidential election. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated launched it’s “Be the Voice” campaign and how to stand up and be heard in this year’s presidential election.
The Distinguished Delta Zeta Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated vowed to use this information to create programs to implement on campuses around the Great Lakes Region.
