THE NEWBRIDGECORRIBEE III

INTRODUCTION"Corribee owners are nearly all fanatically

enthusiastic about their boats. I think shemust be one of Robert Tucker's most successful designs - and he is a man who is notwithout success". Thus wrote the Editor ofPractical Boat Owner after puttingCorribee III through her paces. A beautifully proportioned and virtually worldfamous yacht, the Corribee is an outstanding 21 footerwith many Atlantic andlong range voyages to her credit. Withover 1,000 built the scope and range ofowner references is almost limitless.

DESIGN"One of the most superb small offshore

yachts ever built". The Corribee III is aclassic. Designed as both sea going craftand as a very useful handicap racer. TheCorribee is everyone's idea of what ayacht should look like. Beautifully contoured to slip along at a cracking pace, shecombines excellent handling with a veryhigh level of comfort. The cockpit is largeenough to seat the crew in comfort withno limitations on the helmsman. Thecabin layout can be supplied in 2 versionsto suit either two or four berth requirements with plenty of locker and stowagespace. The. Corribee III - an all rounderthat packs in a unique blend of pace, elegance, comfort and sea worthiness.

CONSTRUCTIONOver 1000 Corribees have been built of

tough, high specification Lloyds approvedGRP. Moulded in our own workshops tothe highest standards, using hardwoodand ply stiffeners particularly for the mastbeam, shroud plates and king plank etc.The hull construction incorporates a sandwich of chopped strand mat and wovenroving for strength and rigidity. The hulland deck are bonded and riveted together, guaranteeing a water-tight and structuralseal at deck edge. The interior moulding isprecision engineered for added strengthand fine detailing. Two keel options areavailable. The fixed fin and bilge keel versions both employ high density ironcastings, encapsulated in the GRP moulded keels which are part of the reinforcedhull. Her longish keel, linked to the skegsupported rudder gives her excellentdirectional stability, the rudder arrangement also provides the extra strengthneeded for offshore cruising. The bilgekeels are of assymetrical aerofoil design tomaximise windward performance. Mastand spars are heavy section anodisedalloy. Sails are made of high quality terylene with class number and insignia.Standing rigging is stainless steel wire. The Corribee features many standard fittings to enhance sailing enjoyment.

Not only are almost all the major com-

ponents used in building the Corribeemade by Newbridge, but the whole yachtis assembled by Newbridge with thebacking of 30 years of experience. Ourproven methods of manufacture haverecently been checked and improved onby the Cranfield Institute of Technologywho also helped introduce a detailedQuality Control System. including over200 detailed checks on each boat plus aTest Tank "antileak" procedure on everyYacht.

PERFORMANCE"Performance is a real eye opener! Light

on the helm and with easily handled sailsCorribee gives an excellent performance towindward and on all other points of sail".Perfectly balanced and quick to respondCorribee will sail under main or fore sailalone and also heave-to effectively - a bigfeature with a small yacht. From the selfdraining cockpit (with seacocks) the viewforward is first rate. Seating is comfortableand everything close at hand. Reefing canbe done from the main hatch or from thefore hatch.

Corribee was designed by Robert Tuckerwith both helmsman and crew very muchin mind - whatever the weather forecast. The comfortably sized cockpit with itsbridge deck gives plenty of shelter. Thewide decks have a moulded non-slip surface to give good footing fore and aft. Theanchor stows neatly away in its ownlocker in the bows. Hand grab rails areprovided both sides of the companionway and on the coach roof and a safetyharness shackling point in the cockpit isparticularly useful with children or in badweather. A big capacity locker in thecounter, with hinged and lockable lid, hasenough space to stow an outboard motorand all your fenders, warps etc.

light and airy throughout. Altogetherboth snug and comfortable when at seaand when lounging in harbour.

A four berth alternative layout is alsoavailable which converts the forward partof the boat into two additional berths, with toilet under the forward bunks and aclever foldown sink on the starboard side. This version involves losing some sailstorage space, hanging lockers and separate heads, but does give a very spaciousfour berth yacht ideal for the family withmuch additional stowage being foundunder extra bunks and side shelves etc.

The interior decor planning has beencarried out by a Design Council appointedDesigner to ensure the highest standardsof comfort both visually and practically.

stainless steel sink and drainer is fitted, with work surface over. Over the galleythe revolving top converts to a properchart table with a comfortable workingposition. It takes half folded Admiraltysized charts and there is lots of stowagespace for your charts and navigationequipment.

Forward through the double doors inthe bulkhead you find a practical andprivate toilet compartment with neat zipfronted, hanging lockers to port and starboard. Forward again a hinged cover provides ample sail stowage in the forepeak, with easy direct access through the bighinged forehatch forward of the mast.

There is plenty of extra stowage underthe bunks, side shelves and under thecockpit sole. This is where you can easilyhave your inboard engine fitted ifrequired. Large toughened glass aluminium framed windows make the cabin

"Newbridge design attends to detail. AtNewbridge we know it is not only important toget the overall design right, attention to detailis just as important. For example:-"

ACCOMMODATION"The standard accommodation layout has

been developed from nearly a quarter of acentury of experience of Corribee owners."

As you slide back the hatch and climbdown the built-in steps you find yourselfin one of the snuggest cabins of any 21footer. The two wide, deep quarter (passage) berths extend aft under the cockpitseats to provide super comfortable seagoing bunks.

Looking forward on the port hand sideyou find the galley. Not just a cooker in abox this. A carefully designed galley withingenious swing round top to give youtable and worktop (it locks in four positions wherever you want it). Stowage foreverything is practically designed, inracks, draws etc. On the starboard side a

CUSTOMER"QUOTES

From an owner who had just sailedthrough a Force 10:-

"This diminutive twenty-footer wasnothing like as cowardly as her sailors. Shewas going to plough through these seas fearlessly - even enjoy it." ....

"The Corribee flying a main impersonatinga pocket handkerchief and a mini storm jib, sailed us into Weymouth without a care inthe world. It was all ill a day's work for her, which is more than the crew could say." ....

"For being alive to tell the tale [thank Godfor the abstinence of my crew, [ am appreciative, but mostly [ am grateful for a piece offibre-glass moulded into one of the mostsuperb small offshore yachts ever

built." "

These and many other satisfied CorribeeIII owners prove that Corribee III sailing isan experience of a lifetime for maximumyachting pleasure and enjoyment.
