When we celebrated our 40 year anniversary in 2007 our customers received the famous pedal fork lift for every order over € 4.000,- We were facing the challenge of finding a new incentive for this year’s campaign. Our choice became the Mammoet Go-Kart. This is not just a Go-Kart, it’s a reliable product from Dutch soil. The Mammoet Go-Kart stands for quality and reliability and symbolizes internal transport. Although this 40kg Go-Kart is a bit bigger than the pedal fork lift, we always manage to find a good place for it in your truck.

Who saVes some, has someWe have collected a lot of valuable information during exhibitions and trough our contacts. These old brochures and documents with technical specifications of all the machines we ever traded are stored in the Lisman library.All information is tidily categorized. When needed we can easily find out what engine type or dimensions a machine has. The library is of great value for every department within Lisman.

iron memoriesOur staff have a treasure of information stored in there memory. For example Jos and Anton Lisman together have almost eighty years of experience in the business. A lot of other people in the commercial team have been in the forklift business for quite some time. Feel free to contact us when you have questions about a used machine, quite often we can answer you right away and otherwise we will look it up in our library.

Knowledge is power, this is true for a wholesaler of used material handling equipment as well. Although the internet made information about equipment easily available thisis mostly true for new material. Getting the specifications of machines that are no

longer in production proves to be more difficult. That is why Lisman started collecting documentation for their library forty years ago.

New Loading baysLoGistic chaLLenGeThat this process brings about a lot of internal logistics will come as no surprise. Most machines need to be driven to get trough the ‘Lisman Production line’. Because most of these machines are IC-machines the exhaust fumes need to be reduced. Besides this the supply of used machines keeps increasing. We need the capacity to unload continuously and process these machines so they can go on sale as soon as possible.

dieseL’s Go around the BackIn the light of quick processing we have invested in two new loading bays on the west side of our Head Office on the Techniekweg. We can now unload diesel trucks outside and drive them around the back to our anti-freeze and cleaning area’s, without the exhaust fumes entering our work and storage spaces. This also expanded our supply capacity so we can process machines faster and you can see them quicker.

02In Lisman News 05 we granted you a look in our print shop where we produce our world-wide direct mail. we use traditional media as little as possible and choose for printing our own advertising. This way we can keep you up to date of the most recent offers and develop-ments. The Lisman News and the Lift Truck News are examples of this. Nowadays we try to use many digital options as well.

e-maiLinGsBesides the normal paper Lift Truck News we recently started a digital version in pdf format. This turns out to be a good solution for countries in which the postal delivery service operates slower. This way we can offer our contacts over there the most recent information. Also it turns out that there are certain countries that prefer this way of receiving information above the normal paper mailing. This way we can send out a greater number of mailings without producing more hard copies, and in this way dealing efficiently with raw materials and act more environmentally friendly.

thematic maiLinGsBesides Lift Truck News with our current offers we also circulate regular ‘special mailings’ on A5 paper size. These special mailings are mostly thematic: sometimes based on brand (Toyota, Linde) or based on type (Stackers, Access Equipment). We do not mail these special mailings to our entire customer base, but exclusively to those relations that we know are interested in certain materials or brands.Are you interested in a certain brand or a specific type of material

but you don’t receive these special mailings? Your information in our database is probably not up to date. Our Area Managers update this data continuously. But now you can update them yourself according to your own wishes.

chiLd at VentureThis organisation helps young people in development countries to start up their own business. A group of young people is starting up a car wash with the € 10.000 that we donated. These people are guided and educated in all facets of becoming an entrepreneur. With this starting capital these people can build a better future for themselves.

maneGe Zonder dremPeLsThis foundation helps disabled children to experience the joy of horseback riding. For these young people this is not only enjoyment but also a natural massage. Lisman’s donation is used for maintenance of the facilities and ensuring the continuity of this foundation that relies on the efforts of volunteers.

Theo Rozenberg started at Lismans in 1978, in June 2009 he goes with early retirement. All the more reason to look back on a career in which he worked with three generations of Lismans.

serVice enGineerTheo originally repaired bicycles. He was one of the first licensed mo-torbike repairman in Amsterdam during the hippie era. He worked in a bicycle store and later operated a driving school. After the oil crisis in the seventies he chose for the security of a stable job. That is how he started working as a service engineer. In those years Lisman still sold new forklifts. If a machine broke down Theo went to the custo-mer to fix the problem at site. “In those years there were almost no electronics in the machines. The drive resistance was divided in three parts, if you turned off a part of this resistance the forklift would drive faster or slower. The weakness in this system was the relays. I have replaced many of those”he says. The contacts were very pleasant. “We always talked about each others families first. I was often invited to stay and have dinner with my customers”.

ProffesionaLiZe Later Theo became the head of our workshop. “Just as in present times we repaired more machines in the workshop than we recondi-tioned. When Gert Versteeg joined the company he brought more structure to the work: clear lines, professionalize.” After 10 years as

head of the workshop Theo went trough a rough period with sickness. When he got through this period he became a tester for used machines.This was of great importance: because as the “Lisman Standard” became more widely known, the quality objectivily went up and the amount of claims went down.

PioneerinGTheo has an education in car mechanics and followed many courses. He really has technique in his fingers. Forklifts are a piece of cake for him. “Telehandlers proofed to be more difficult, less was known about those. In the beginning there were no service manuals available, we solved problems by pioneering. If I couldn’t fix something I asked others what could cause the problem. I would for instance call one of Anton Lisman’s contacts, in that way I always managed to solve the problem”.

demonstrate and testTheo perfected the testing process at Lisman. The testers determine for each machine if it goes to our A-location (higher price range) or the C-location (lower price range). “We asses the machines on 4 major criteria: the mast, the drive (clutch, hydrostatic, automa-tic), the engine and the steering. Defects are noted on the test list. Defects that endanger the safety of the machine, like the brakes, are always fixed”.

At the same time we started testing the machines we also started with demonstrations. “It is very interesting for our customers to be capable of seeing a machine at work”. Theo’s work will be taken over by Herman Vork who has been with Lisman for 5 years.

JoB fuLLfiLmentLooking back on his lengthy career Theo concludes that he always got a lot of fullfilment from his job at Lisman. “That is because of the structure of the family company. The family always shows great dedication: they arrive the first and leave last. I am proud to have worked with 3 generations of Lismen”.

We thank Theo for his huge contribution to the development of our company and wish him all the best with his retirement.
