Hockey Champions Congratulations to our girl's hockey team - new Sate Champions!!! Last Tuesday the team travelled to Narellan for the semi final / finals matches of the NSW PSSA girl's hockey knockout. Our semi final opponents were from Ben Venue P.S. ( Armidale ) representing North Western region. The weather was unseasonably hot but the girls played with determination and accurate passes and strong marking resulted in a 2 nil win. One more match! Next, a team talk, lots of water, a bite to eat and a rest in the shade . Then, one last request from the coach, the manager and parents - "Dig deep, have fun and go for it ! You can do this girls ! " The team did not disappoint. The opponents for the final match was Parkes P.S. (representing Western Region). The girls displayed great tenacity, fabulous skills and terrific team work to defeat Parkes P.S. 2 nil. Everyone was ecstatic - they had done it. State champions!!! Phone calls to school throughout the day meant all students and staff were able to share in the excitement. We are extremely proud of all the girls for the fantastic sportsmanship they displayed throughout the whole competition, for their commitment to training and for supporting and encouraging each other. It was wonderful to see the improvement in skills along the way and the confidence in their own ability develop with each match.
A huge thank you to Naomi Jones for sharing her expertise and devoting time to coaching the team. A huge thank you also to the parents for assisting with transport and for being there to support the team at each match. It was a pleasure to be involved in this great achievement. What tremendous ambassadors for not only Wollondilly P.S. but also for Goulburn District and South Coast Region!
Congratulations: Back Row (L-R) Emma Baxter, Caitlin Jones, Chloe Brown, Meg Woodberry and Cheyanne Hunt. Middle row (L-R) Meg Baxter, Grace Jones, Makayla Jones, Mikaylah John and Saree Picker. Front row (L-R) Georgia Staines, Georgie Chandler, Nichala Chandler and Piper-Lily Cumberland.

Sports Update
The Wollondilly boy’s cricket team travelled to Shell Cove on Friday 12 September to compete in Round 3 of the PSSA knockout competition. Unfortunately, the boys were defeated by a talented Shell Cove team, but played with grit and demonstrated excellent sportsmanship.
The girl’s touch football team were also unlucky in their Round 5 match against Bega Valley Public School. From all reports it was a close game with Bega Valley only just defeating the Wollondilly girls.
Congratulations to both teams on their achievements this year.
Mr Scott Fagan

will be Relieving Principal here at Wollondilly P.S., in
my absence.
I accepted the offer, knowing that the staff at
Wollondilly will continue to do a wonderful job and the
school will be in very capable hands under the
leadership of the executive team.
I shall return to Wollondilly Public School on Friday
5th December, in time for end of year celebrations.

Navy Sea Hawk helicopter visits students at
Wollondilly P.S.
On Tuesday students were eager with anticipation, as they sat on the side of the hill and held onto their hats as the Royal Australian Navy Squadron 816 Seahawk landed on the oval at Wollondilly Public School. The helicopter arrived around 10.30am with its three-man crew and two mechanics. It took the 10 ton helicopter around 20 minutes to fly from HMAS Albatross in Nowra to the school. Students from Wollondilly, The Crescent School and Goulburn Preschool were given a tour of the anti-submarine helicopter, taught about its usage in warfare, rescue and disaster relief and given the opportunity to ask questions. Josie Barrett from 1M wrote “The Sea Hawk helicopter is used by the Navy. They carry crews and torpedoes. The rescue winch is used to rescue men and women. They can hover over one spot while the crew jumps out and saves people from the sea. The Sea Hawk helicopter can carry up to 10 crew and radar is used to find missing ships.” The Seahawk itself can reach a maximum speed of 270 kilometres per hour, can climb at a rate of 1,650 feet per minute and is equipped with the MK 46 torpedo. Its primary role is to embark in the Australian Navy’s warships and provide anti-submarine warfare and anti-surface surveillance. A big thanks to Captain Tim Noble for organising this visit to our school. Paul Martin

Crunch & Sip
Wollondilly will be commencing Crunch and Sip from
Tuesday 7 October (1st day of Term 4). Children will
be asked to participate in this program on a daily
basis. So send your child to school with a water bottle
and some fruit or vegetables. The fruit and
vegetables need to be cut and ready to eat in the
classroom. The whole school has been talking about
this venture, so if you are unsure of what is expected
ask your child for help.
If you do not have any suitable fruit or vegetables at
home, the canteen will be selling small packs of fruit
and vegetables for 50 cents. These packs are only
available for sale at 9.00am till 9.25 am. If your child
does not have fruit or vegetables to eat during the
Crunch and Sip period, they are not allowed to eat
anything else from their lunch box.
In Week 2 we will be having a Crunch and Sip
challenge. The class with the most children
participating will receive a fruit salad platter to share
with their entire class.
