Capital Campaign Update

The goal is $2 Million. We are making steady progress. So far more than $1,474,961.08 has been contributed. Thank you for contributing to this amazing Capital Campaign.

There are three ways to give to the campaign: Use the green pew envelopes donate online at www.onrealm.org/doylestownumc Donate the proceeds from selling stock

August Mission of the Month

Please give generously to support the mission of The Well, here in Bucks County.

The Well is a residential safe house where survivors of

forced prostitution can work through trauma and rebuild their lives both physically and emotionally. Survivors can also receive care, training, and support through the Well’s “Worth It” program. “Worth It” is an 11 week series of classroom experiences on subjects like trauma, domestic abuse, and general health issues including suicide prevention. The program connects participants to area service providers and offers information about laws surrounding prostitution and sex trafficking.

The Well is an initiative of the non-profit Worthwhile Wear organization that runs the Worthwhile Thrift Stores in Pipersville and Fountainville. We welcomed the Executive Director of Worthwhile Wear, Dan Emr, who gave us an update of their important work.

During the month of August, all money earmarked for mission will be donated to The Well. During worship look for pink envelopes in the chair or pew pockets and indicate “The Well” or “August Mission” on the memo line of your check payable to DUMC. Please give as generously as you can. There will be many grateful hearts at The Well.

Save the Date October 13, 2019 CROP WALK Let’s all walk.

Wednesday Morning Bible Study

Beginnings: Foundations for our Faith

Join Pastor Sunil for a Bible Study series in two parts that goes back to where it all began. Why is Creation so important? Introducing sin and its consequences. Did God have Plans “A” and “B” (that contingency plan!)? Where did Grace first begin? And what about those Patriarchs – Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob – why are they so special? God and his choosing people with feet of clay to fulfil his purpose.

Come and (re)discover the roots of human brokenness and God’s Plan in this 2-part series:

Part 1: In the Beginning – Where it all began (4 sessions). September 4, 11, 18, 25

Part 2: The Patriarchs – Men with feet of clay (5 sessions). October 9, 16, 23, 30, November 6

Each class will be Wednesday morning from 10:00-11:15

Men’s Ministries:

Men who are told to be “self-reliant” need other men. LIFE IS NOT A DIY EXERCISE! We believe a man living life and operating “solo” in this world is vulnerable and will

be marginalized in the Kingdom. Come join us on either Wednesday nights at 7:00 at Ken Kugel’s home or Friday mornings at 6:15 at Kevin McPoyle’s home and go deeper in your faith and in

your relationships with other men looking for the same thing you are. We’ll talk about success, significance, work, sports, food and Jesus. Come and be encouraged and renewed for your family, for yourself and for the battle ahead.

The Doylestown Band of Brothers (DBoB) is a group of more than 30 Christian men from Doylestown United Methodist Church and other churches in the community. We believe that no man can successfully fight battles or live an abundant life alone.

Weekly Meetings: There are two opportunities to join:

Contact Ken Kugel for Wednesday evenings at [email protected].

Contact Kevin McPoyle [email protected] or Tom Murray [email protected] for Friday mornings.

For more information about DBoB or to register, go to www.Doylestownumc.com and click on men’s ministries.

The DivorceCare and DivorceCare for Kids (DC4K) support groups were created for people who are experiencing separation, divorce, or the end of a long-term relationship.

The Fall Semester will begin on Monday, September 9. Meetings will be held on Mondays, 7:00 - 9:00 pm. Please join at any time; registration is open.

Questions? Contact Debbie Schultheiss: 215-348-5224, [email protected] or DivorceCare.org

and January 11 - 17, 2020

Total volunteer costs are $1445.00. If you have questions or want to receive a registration form, please email: [email protected]. Registration forms are also available in the church office. Commitments and payment for airfares must be made before mid-September to guarantee this price.
