The Unknown Facts of Polio

6/3/2015

Polio was known as a ubiquitous, relatively benign enterovirus. What events occurred to encourage the polio epidemics of the 1940’s and 1950’s and increase the rate of paralysis and death (Humphries et al., 2013). Did the Polio vaccine help to eliminate polio?

Dr. Albert Sabin, the creator of the oral polio vaccine (OPV) observed that U.S. service men were contracting polio in the same areas where the local populations carried the antibodies to all three strains of polio and showed no symptoms (Humphries et al., 2013).

Polio is inflammation of the anterior grey

matter of the spinal cord (anterior horn)

Bulbar Poliomyelitis involves the brain stem

and has higher death a rate

Bulbospinal polio involves both the spinal

cord and brainstem (Humphries et al., 2013)

Figure 1. Cross section of spinal cord

According to the CDC

95%-98% will not have any symptoms

4%-8% will have minor symptoms like fever,

fatigue, nausea and pain in limbs.

Less than 1% will develop paralysis of the

limbs, usually the legs.

5%-10% of the 1% (5-10 out of 10,000)

will end up dying from paralysis of the

respiratory muscles (Humphries et al., 2013)

Figure 2. Polio Morbidity

Figure 3. Polio patients in iron lungs, 1952 Figure 4 . March of Dimes had a large role in

convincing the public to accept the Polio

vaccine

During the Polio campaign photos like these were seen everywhere to instill fear so that the public would more readily accept a vaccine. The photos were rarely seen after 1956 to further convince the public that the vaccine was eradicating Polio.

1954 Polio diagnostic criteria according to WHO

signs and symptoms of nonparalytic poliomyelitis with the addition of partial or complete paralysis of one or more muscle groups, detected on two examinations at least 24 hours apart.

No lab confirmation or residual paralysis (longer than 24 hours) was required (Humphries et al., 2013)

1955 Polio diagnostic criteria was changed and non-paralytic Polio was renamed

residual paralysis was determined 10 to 20 days after onset of illness and again 60 days after onset.

2/3 of cases of paralysis was resolved within 2-3 weeks.

This eliminated 35% of what was diagnosed as Polio (Humphries et al., 2013)

Between 1955 and 1965 the CDC renamed non-paralytic polio as aseptic or viral meningitis and erased 55% of what was originally diagnosed as polio.

With a stroke of a pen the government and medical community erased 90% of polio cases

Many other diseases could have been misdiagnosed as polio before the change in diagnostic criteria in 1955 which include,

Enteroviris ECHO

Undiagnosed congenital syphilis

Arsenic and DDT poisoning

Transverse myelitis

Guillain-Barre syndrome

Limb paralysis by injections,

including vaccines

Lead poisoning

Acute flaccid paralysis (AFP)

Coxsackie virus

Viral & Aseptic meningitis and several

other diseases not mentioned Figure 6. Source: Congressional Hearings, May 1962; and National

Figure 7. children sprayed with DDT on beach

DDT poisoning mimicked polio symptoms

It was believed that flies were carriers of the polio virus

Sprayed on food, children, in home

1960’s discovered DDT enhanced release and

intracellular multiplication of Polio virus and was not

disclosed in medical literature until 10 years later

(Humphries et al., 2013)

Figure 8. Recommended uses for DDT

DDT No Polio epidemics before 1886

1874 DDT was invented by Germany and

used on crops

1886 First paralytic Polio was in Sweden

1914-1942 DDT-like chemical use increases

1942-1952 Huge increase in DDT, was

thought as the answer to health and pests

1952 DDT discovered to cause nerve

Damage, paralysis and death in calves

Via milk

1953 confirmed by Swiss

1966 DDT License Cancelled Figure 9. Polio incidence in relation to pesticide use

(HARpub, Poliomyelitis)

Sugar and starch makes us susceptible to Polio and other infections by lowering blood sugar

1938 Monkeys were the only lab animal that contracted Polio – lowest blood sugar levels recorded was 50 mg

Rabbits did not contract Polio - lowest blood sugar recording was 100 mg

Injected insulin into rabbits to lower blood sugar level and exposed them to polio

All of the rabbits contracted Polio

Results of the study was published in American Journal of Pathology, January, 1941

Polio in Eskimos is unheard of Polio-virus remains viable in the laboratory at freezing temperatures for many years, in the cold for many months, and at room temperatures for days to weeks. http://jid.oxfordjournals.org/content/175/Supplement_1/S286.full.pdf

Eskimos diet is meat and fish (fat and protein)

To avoid Polio eliminate sugar and reduce starch consumption

Book written by Benjamin P. Sandler, M.D., “Diet Prevents Polio” and published in 1951, at the height of the polio epidemic detailed the experiments and diet (Mercola)

1949, Dr. Sandler warned north Carolinians through newspaper and radio ads to decrease sugar intake

Residents decreased sugar by 90%

Polio incidence decreased by 90% from 2,948 cases in 1948 to 229 cases in 1949 (Miller, 2012).

Arsenic poisoning mimicked polio.

Tryparsamide (1939), an arsenical made by Merck was considered effective and safe to use by the AMA.

Arsenic was prescribed by physicians for asthma, cholera, therapeutic injections and added to tobacco thinking that a stronger poison will destroy a weaker poison.

Advanced syphilis was treated with 100 or more arsenic injections.

Dentists used arsenuous acid to destroy nerve endings in decayed teeth.

Arsenic was used in wall paper, paper, fabrics, paints and dyes in the 1,700 and 1,800’s and sprayed on fruits and vegetables.

Cows were dipped in arsenic baths to kill parasites which eventually ended up in milk (Humphries et al., 2013).

polio can start at an injection site with antibiotics or a vaccine.

When diphtheria and pertussis were given to the population the cases of polio skyrocketed.

1992 study published in The Journal of Infectious Diseases confirmed that there was an increase of developing polio within 30 days of a DPT vaccine.

1995 a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine showed that a child is more 8 times more likely to develop polio if another vaccine is given within 30 days of the polio vaccine (Miller, 2012).

1954 Dr. David Bodian of the poliomyelitis laboratory at John Hopkins University addressed the International Poliomyelitis Conference on September 8, 1954 and stated he caused Polio when he injected a monkey with another vaccine within 30 days of the Polio vaccine (Aufderheide, 2012).

Tonsillectomies were routinely done for profit in the middle and upper class children. Bulbar poliomyelitis was 16 times higher in children with a tonsillectomy. Forty-six percent of bulbar cases were preceded by recent tonsillectomies (Humphries et al., 2013). Figure 10. Monkeys developing polio after injections

SV40 virus was found in all three strains of Sabin’s live Polio vaccine

Estimated 98 million people received the contaminated vaccines between 1961 and 1976

1960’s, studies showed that it can cause brain tumors in animals and cause cancer in human tissue in vitro.

1964 Fred Jensen demonstrated that it could cause cancer in vivo, in humans.

No effort was made to remove or destroy the known contaminated polio vaccines (Horwin, 2003).

2001, Dr. Carbon stated that there are sixty-two papers from 30 laboratories around the world that have reported SV40 virus in human tissues (Carlsen, 2001).

2012 Italian study found that the the SV40 virus is being passed down through generations (Corallini et al., 20012).

First ½ of the CDC web page that finally admitted after 50 years that the polio Vaccine contained the Cancer Causing VIRUS SV40. This web page was removed after it started to attract a lot of attention. http://www.thehealthyhomeeconomist.com/it-only-took-50-years-cdc-admits-polio-vaccine-tainted-with-cancer-causing-virus/

SV40 is passed down through:1. Horizontal Transmission - from

one individual to another in the same generation (peers in the same age group). Horizontal transmission can occur by either direct contact (licking, touching, biting), or indirect contact air – cough or sneeze

2. Vertical Transmission – Passed from parent to child in utero

The above policy about ignoring all safety matters with regards to vaccination was adopted so that the goals of the Government and Pharmaceuticals to force vaccinate every human on earth could go forward in order to profit from causing autoimmune disease, allergies, asthma, cancer and many other chronic illness with death as unintended consequence. This specific quote was in regard to the Polio vaccine which was the first large campaign to convince the public that vaccines were a needed for health.

outbreaks before the renaming of polio and the diagnostic criteria change?

A. Enteroviruses (Coxsackie, ECHO), undiagnosed congenital syphilis, Transverse myelitis, Guillain-Barre syndrome,

B. DDT poisoning, vaccination, increased sugar intake, tonsillectomies, Polio vaccine, contaminated milk

C. Lead poisoning, acute flaccid paralysis (AFP), arsenic poisoning

D. All
