The Turtle Times Dear Parents/Carers. There has been excitement at school this week with Sports Day drawing near and house meengs to learn the house chants. We have the Marines joining us on the day to help out and everyone is well on the way to being organised to have another great day. We would like to invite parents/carers to come along and help out or just enjoy the day watching the acvies and running races. There have been a number of reports about cars and vans hanging around schools and parks in the Palmerston area of late. This is a mely reminder for everyone to talk to your children about Recognising danger, Reacng to the situaon by running or screaming and Reporng anything to an adult. The 3 Rs are the way the Morcombe Foundaon teach kids to deal with situaons where they feel unsafe. Please discuss with your children walking or riding home from school so that they do so in groups and not alone and what to do if they feel unsafe. We will also be reminding students at our next Assembly. Our Rosebery Primary Dance Troupe performed at the Italian Fesval last weekend and did a fantasc job. Thanks to all the students, families, teachers and friends who went along to see our students dance, they looked fantasc! Photo courtesy of Mrs Karen Jeffery. Our year 4 students have just returned from camp yesterday and it appears that the majority of students and teachers had a great me, some camping in a tent for the very first me. The Territory Wildlife Park is a safe and great place for kids to do their first camping trip and at the same me learn about the NT environment and its wildlife. Thanks to all the teachers who gave up their own me to sleep in tents over two nights with the students. The next Outdoor Educaon event for the year is in Term 3 with the Year 3 sleepover. Our school values of Confidence, Resilience, Co-operaon, Respect and Integrity are well known by the students and at assemblies we give our Values Awards based on students displaying one or more of these values. We also have our merit award system culminang in a Principals Award. This Semester we have selected 20 students to aend the V8 Supercar event. Students selected for this event are from year 5/ 6 and have recently received a Principals Award. To aend this event it is viewed at as a reward event so the students aending are very deserving and I know the school values will be foremost in their minds on the day. The remainder of students who have achieved their Principal Award this year will be having a special lunch with me. Congratulaons to all who have received an award so far this year. Have a great long weekend. The Turtle Times

Dear Parents/Carers.

There has been excitement at school this week with Sports Day drawing near and house meetings to learn the house chants. We have the Marines joining us on the day to help out and everyone is well on the way to being organised to have another great day. We would like to invite parents/carers to come along and help out or just enjoy the day watching the activities and running races. There have been a number of reports about cars and vans hanging around schools and parks in the Palmerston area of late. This is a timely reminder for everyone to talk to your children about Recognising danger, Reacting to the situation by running or screaming and Reporting anything to an adult. The 3 Rs are the way the Morcombe Foundation teach kids to deal with situations where they feel unsafe. Please discuss with your children walking or riding home from school so that they do so in groups and not alone and what to do if they feel unsafe. We will also be reminding students at our next Assembly.

Our Rosebery Primary Dance Troupe performed at the Italian Festival last weekend and did a fantastic job. Thanks to all the teachers who gave up their own time to sleep in tents over two nights with the students. The next Outdoor Education event for the year is in Term 3 with the Year 3 sleepover. Our school values of Confidence, Resilience, Co-operation, Respect and Integrity are well known by the students and at assemblies we give our Values Awards based on students displaying one or more of these values. In Focus

Year 2 Kmon/ Young

LIBRARY BOOKS Can all parents and carers please

ensure all library and reader books are returned before the

end of term 2.

Throughout this term, Year 2 Kmon/Young have been focusing on 2

dimensional shapes and 3 dimensional objects. They have worked

together to identify 2D shapes and 3D objects on computers. They

have used tessellation shapes to create pictures, and practiced

making cubes and pyramids. Some students found this a bit tricky,

but they showed great cooperation skills and persistence, helping

each other and never giving up.

Students in Year 2 Young/Kmon have been exploring the world.

They have been analysing maps, using directional language such as;

North, South, East and West. Students have worked together to

identify the continents and oceans around the world. They have

been excited to learn about how their classmates are connected to

other parts of the world.

On the 24th May our Year 5 Students and three Year 6 Team Leaders boarded a bus to the Bachelor Outdoor Education Centre for 3 days of activities. Morning fitness run by our Year 6 leaders helped to build relationships and promoted teamwork. The students undertook activities such as Canoeing, Archery, damper making and the high ropes course.

The evenings where filled with dancing and fashion shows. The Students needed to come up with new innovative clothes made from garbage bags and other items.

On the 5th & 6th June our year 4 students split into 2 groups to camp 1

night each at the Territory Wildlife Park. Students learnt all about bush survival including snake bite first aid

and all about our native animals.

Being Croc wise was also a focus of our camp and the students learnt what to do if they do encounter a

croc.

Thank you to all those students who displayed our school values while on

camp.
