To clarify things a little more: What pushes the difficulty level up often

has nothing to do with your interviewing skill or ease with public

speaking. For instance, in the case of hosting a "live feed" summit,

the process itself requires many more steps, components and

coordination than a simple, one-person interview -- but if you're able

to comfortably put it together, your rewards ought also to be

significantly higher!

A good rule-of-thumb: The higher ticket price you put on the

services you are promoting, the more sophisticated the

webinar format you'll likely need.

For example, if you're hoping to use your webinar indirectly to

promote your one-on-one, ten-spot-only $2,700 coaching package, a

Summit format (showing you can easily connect and network with the

biggest names in your niche) is the ideal, authority-building, high

value choice.

If you're just starting out, however, interviewing your coach or another

niche celebrity who will use your webinar recording as a JV bonus for

her list is a valid and valuable way to start.

Free or Paid Webinar?

There is one other choice you must make: To start out with a free or

paid webinar.

A free webinar is a great way to deliver high value content to your list

while building it at the same time. It's also a great vehicle for

introducing a new product or service by:

1. Showing the need for what you're ultimately selling

2. Demonstrating why you alone can best deliver what is needed

This type of free webinar should always conclude with at least one

call to action -- even if it's just an invitation to sample your expertise

further by taking advantage of a free half-hour phone consultation.

Your paid webinar should stand alone as an information product in its

own right. The exciting part about this type of information product:

It's created on the spot in real time, and you typically have only

limited control over the content, if you are interacting with either

guests or your audience. Presented wisely and subtly guided with

skill, this type of product truly answers your target market's deepest

needs and comes off as an extremely valuable product, enhancing

your reputation in the best possible way.

Cost vs. Profit

If we're going to examine the feasibility of making real money with

webinars, it's necessary to take a look at costs as well as possible

profits.

The more sophisticated the system, the higher the cost. However,

there are definitely occasions when your ROI (return on investment)

will far outweigh your initial outlay for webinar costs.

That being said, it doesn't automatically follow that the most

expensive set up is necessarily the most sophisticated or interactive.

It pays to shop around, and particularly to ask for feedback from peer

entrepreneurs who have tried the system you're interested in.

It's also not advisable to go into debt over webinar set up. If you can't

afford a particular set up, chances are your business won't be quite

ready for it, anyway.

Start out with something simpler -- perhaps a celebrity/niche expert

interview instead of the Summit you're dreaming of hosting.

Only you will be able to make the final decision on this, so don't just

look at figures: Listen to your market -- and your gut. If you've got

all the guests lined up and your market research is positively

screaming that your Summit event is going to be a high ticket, smash

success, go for it. Explore every option for financing your webinar.

It's definitely a risk, however -- but that's what being an entrepreneur

is all about: Having the vision and jumping in, while others dither at

the edge of the pool, endlessly talking about whether or not they

should get their feet wet.
