On-air, On-line & In Print – The Thread is now the largest community

media network ever created for Macclesfield and North East Cheshire.

The ‘Thread’ community network has been created by

the Make It Macclesfield business forum to promote all

the great things happening on our doorstep and to

promote local businesses.

The network expands across a wide variety of mediums,

including the radio, an on-line publication, website and

e-newsletter, connecting the Macclesfield & North East

Cheshire community.

Created to help support the local business community

and to fund the network, the Thread has a low cost

comprehensive advertising platform, designed to reward

anyone that supports the network through our

sponsorship packages.

Our area covers North East Cheshire ie.

Macclesfield, Bollington, Tytherington,

Prestbury, Rainow, Sutton, Wilmslow,

Alderley and surrounding smaller villages

and hamlets. This gives us a target

audience of over 120,000 people.

The Thread website has been created to act as a

popular information hub, letting you know

everything that’s happening on your doorstep.

Supported by a team of volunteers, we currently

have the most comprehensive what's on guide to be

ever created for the local area.

Our website promotes all the great things happening

in your community, with news and updates from

community group, charities, clubs and local

businesses.

The website is also being updated to include more

features and interaction with the local community.

We’ll also be continuing to send our fortnightly

‘Thread’ e-newsletter to over 9,000 people,

highlighting the best local news and events.

At the heart of the Thread network is your

local community radio station – Canalside’s

The Thread 102.8FM.

Broadcasting over an area of 120,000 people,

with a realistic potential to reach a regular

weekly audience of over 20,000 adults. Tune

in to 102.8FM for great music, plus

interesting and community programmes.

Following the success of the printed quarterly

publication, the Thread is now going to be

published on-line MONTHLY from September

2013.

It contains local news, stories, competitions and

the most comprehensive ‘What’s On Guide’ to

feature in any local publication distributed in the

area.

The publication has been created to be an

informative and interesting read but also to

directly promote our sponsors and create more

awareness of all the great things happening in

Macclesfield.

Large plasma screens, located in the Visitor

Information Centre, regularly promote the

Thread website and the what’s on guide.

The Thread web based App is now live.

Compatible for Android , iPhone and

Windows platforms. It will feature a real time

‘What’s on Guide’, social media links and a

listen live facility, you’ll even be able to

request your favorite song to be played on

the radio!
