BodyTel | The Telehealth Company
• Telemedical Approach to Chronic Disease ManagementBodyTel is an INTEGRATOR and specializes in telemedical monitoring and management systems for chronic diseases like diabetes.
• Comprehensive Knowledge We combine our knowledge in telecommunications, internet and medical technology to create new products and services for thechanging needs of global health.
• The System - An Integrated ProcessThe BodyTel system is a sophisticated open platform, allowing a completely new approach to effective patient management, consisting of several components used together in an integrated process. Namely, state of the art wireless transmission enabled meters (e.g. blood glucose meter), a wide variety of mobile phones and a secure internet platform.
• The whole BodyTel system, including the sensors, the software for the mobile phone and for the database is approved as a medical product!
BodyTel | Company Positioning
• Monitoring CentersLooking for partners that can feed their data into real-time monitoring and management systems
• Telemedicine CompaniesTelecommunications know-how but don’t own proprietary devices with recurring revenue streams requiring them to shift costs for their services to patients and payers
• Telco ProvidersSeeking opportunities to enter the healthcare market to capture market share
• Device ManufacturersExperienced in diagnostics but not in Telehealth, IT or Mobile Technologies. Slow to change current behavior.
• Platform and Internet CompaniesPotentially partner companies. - e.g. BodyTel could feed its measurement data into Google‘s future health records etc
BodyTel has a unique positioning - No direct competitors and numerous potential partners in different areas...

Transmitters
BodyTel | BodyTel Mobile – The mobile App
• BodyTel Mobile is not only a mobile transmitter but also a mobile diary.
• It receives measurements via Bluetooth connections and transmits the data to the central database using the mobile internet.
• Also it enables users to track other crucial information whereever they are (e.g. medication, activities, meals, etc.)
• It is currently running on Symbian based platforms only but we currently port it to Android and Windows Mobile as well.
• Additional iPhone/pad – App for manually entered events and monitoring of patients.
BodyTel | BodyTel Gate
The BodyTel Gate can automatically receive and transmit measured values from vital sensors to the monitoring database.
•Weight: 280 g
•Dimensions: 15,5 cm x 3,7 cm x 10,6 cm
•Colored Touchscreen: 4,3 Inch
•Interface: Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR Module (100m range)
•Transmission: via integrated SIM module or via connected internet router
•Over the Air Updates

Database
BodyTel | Monitoring Platform www.bodytel.com
• receives, stores and displays patient data
• 24/7 access to patient data via normal web-browser for patients and authorized caregivers
• real-time alerts for caregivers in case patient values exceed predefined thresholds
• individual alerting settings (e-mail, text message, fax)
• can be integrated into other EHR Systems (iframe, interface, etc.)
Challenges
BodyTel | Challenges in telemonitoring
• Short product cycles in the mobile market business
• Proprietary interfaces on mobile devices
• Complex, heterogeneous data tariffs globally
• Proof of cost savings (Where? How much? How fast?)
• Re-imbursement models yet to be developed
• Data security issues require constant attention both technically and communication-wise
• Patient Data requires often local Server Hosting in the nation
• Technical standards only under development (hardware, software, communication protocols, etc.)
• User intervention needs to be the least possible to generate acceptance
• New care pathways not yet in place - and tie-in of GPs rather challenging
• Certification issues not yet 100% clear with Notified Bodies
BodyTel | Challenges with Bluetooth in the healthcare market
• Integration of existing vital sensors with Bluetooth• Most of the time there is no standard API, which makes the
integration timely, costly and cumbersome
• Integration of newly developed vital sensors with Bluetooth• What is the best technology to go with (Standard Bluetooth vs.
Low Energy Bluetooth [or another technology?]) taking the time constraints into consideration that it takes to develop a Medical Device Product
• If Standard Bluetooth which protocol is the chosen one (SPP vs. HDP [or both?]
• The communication flow taking the approach of real time transmission into consideration, but what if …
Vital Sensors
BodyTel | Challenges with Bluetooth in the healthcare market
• Broad mobile end device market with compatibility issues• SPP implemented?• HDP coming or not?• Apple proprietary approach• Windows Phone 7, not yet possible
• Fast moving and changing end device market• New platforms • New devices
• Still, almost no Low Energy Bluetooth devices available
Mobile End Device Market
