The Table Is Set,

Come To The Feast

“Did not God choose those who are poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom

that he promised to those who love him?”

(JAMES 2:5)

What is more important – being rich in faith or rich in possessions? Society teaches us that possessions are most important. God teaches a different lesson. When we are rich in faith, we keep God first in all things and realize that material things really don’t matter and that it’s more important to share with

those who have less.

After mass, there will be a cookout with hamburgers and hotdogs and salads, bake sale, raffle baskets, face painting, sale of Fr. Kelley’s jewelry, our OLOL cookbook,

sale of new tote bags with our new Mission Statement, new Church magnets and our new, beautiful Church Christmas ornaments. Come worship and relax after mass and

spend some time getting to know your fellow parishioners!

Planning For The Future Celebrating the number of baptisms this week and last brings up an opportunity for some very important

pastoral ministry at Our Lady of Lourdes. We would love to create teams that would help families prepare

for baptism. On the evenings of Sept 10 & 17 and Nov 4 & 11 the diocese is sponsoring training of teams

to assist in preparing the parish for Infant Baptisms. Also, the diocese is inviting members of TeamRCIA

of San Jose, CA to give training for parish teams assisting to welcome un-baptized adults to journey toward

baptism, confirmation & Eucharist. The training will take place on Friday evening and all day Saturday,

Sept 28/29. If you are interested in being part of parish teams to help the un-baptized find their spiritual

home at Our Lady of Lourdes please call Fr. Brian or email him at [email protected] as soon

as you can.

St. Vincent de Paul The next St. Vincent de Paul Meeting is this Wednesday, September 12 at 6:30 pm in the Church Hall. All are welcome to attend. If you would like to see what they are all about, please plan on attending. Former and new members are always welcome!

Prayer Shawl Our next meeting will be

Wednesday, September 26. If any parishioner would like a prayer shawl for someone they know who might have lost

a loved one recently or is dealing with an illness or just might need to be reminded they are loved and prayed for, please call Donna at 508-304-1745 or 508-579-9299. You may also

call the rectory at 508-757-0789.

Religious Ed

Come to our church picnic this Sunday and register your child/children as we begin another exciting year

of Religious Ed. The program will be starting on Sunday, September 16 at our new time of 8:30 AM. The

students will meet from 8:30-9:30 am and then attend mass at 9:30. After Fr. Brian blesses the children,

they will go back downstairs to the church hall to participate in the word and return upstairs after the

homily. The fee is $35 per student and $25 each additional sibling. The sacramental program is $60. If you

have any questions, please contact Judy Verdini at 508-791-4230 or email at [email protected].

Thanks to all who came out

this past Saturday for

another church clean-up day.

changes and it is so exciting. Stay tuned

for more dates for future clean-up days.

LITURGY OF THE WORD

FIRST READING IS 35:4-7A

Thus says the LORD: Say to those whose hearts are frightened: Be strong, fear not! Here is your God, he comes with vindication; with divine recompense he comes to save you. Then will the eyes of the blind be opened, the ears of the deaf be cleared; then will the lame leap like a stag, then the tongue of the mute will sing. Streams will burst forth in the desert, and rivers in the steppe. The burning sands will become pools, and the thirsty ground, springs of water.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM PSALM 146

SECOND READING JAS 2:1-5

My brothers and sisters, show no partiality as you adhere to the faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ. For if a man with gold rings and fine clothes comes into your assembly, and a poor person in shabby clothes also comes in, and you pay attention to the one wearing the fine clothes and say, “Sit here, please, ” while you say to the poor one, “Stand there, ” or “Sit at my feet, ” have you not made distinctions among yourselves and become judges with evil designs?

Listen, my beloved brothers and sisters. Did not God choose those who are poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom that he promised to those who love him?

GOSPEL MK 7:31-37

Again Jesus left the district of Tyre and went by way of Sidon to the Sea of Galilee, into the district of the Decapolis. And people brought to him a deaf man who had a speech impediment and begged him to lay his hand on him. He took him off by himself away from the crowd. He put his finger into the man’s ears and, spitting, touched his tongue; then he looked up to heaven and groaned, and said to him, “Ephphatha!”— that is, “Be opened!” —And immediately the man’s ears were opened, his speech impediment was removed, and he spoke plainly. He ordered them not to tell anyone. But the more he ordered them not to, the more they proclaimed it. They were exceedingly astonished and they said, “He has done all things well. He makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.”

GOSPEL ACCLAMATION

NICENE CREED

I believe in one God, the Father almighty,

maker of heaven and earth, of all things

visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only

Begotten Son of God, born of the Father be-fore all ages. God from God, Light from Light,

true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made.

For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and be-

came man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius

Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.

He ascended into heaven and is seated at the

right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver

of life who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken

through the prophets.

I believe in one, holy, catholic, and apostolic

Church. I confess one baptism for the forgive-ness of sins and I look forward to the resur-

rection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.
