The Danish Onboard set-up

– All trains on state contract financed by the state

– New trains must be financed by operators (eg. DSB)

– Finance includes First of Class, design, safety approval,

training etc.

– All operators in Denmark can buy on our framework contract

– Commercial trains – typical freight – are not financed by state

All trains employed for public service transport will be equipped with BDK cobtracted Onboard equipment

Freight Railway Undertakings

Who can apply and allocation

– All Freight RU’s which operate on Banedanmarks network and

own ATC fitted vehicles

– The total fund is DKK 44 million + 11 million for new entries

(2013) prices

– Maximum allocation is 50% of direct cost for purchase and

installation of ETCS

– If the applicant also applies CEF (TEN) funds – the maximum

funding is up to 50% of direct cost for purchase and installation

Freight Railway Undertakings

Criterias:

– Rolling Stock with Danish ATC and Trafikstyrelsens permission for

use

– It will – on ”one to one” basis – be possible to interchange one

vehicle with ATC with another vehicle without ATC

– The installation takes place within the following period: 2015-

2021

– New entries: Min. 70,000 km/year and min.20,000 km/year for

the specific locomotive

– Banedanmark is awaiting final approval of the application set-

up from the European Commission

– Locomotives: without ATC which are operating today –

typically for infrastructure works

1. Signing the Subcontract A with Alstom

It triggers the start of FoC activities in the Main Contract

2. Signing a Back to Back with BDK to cover the FoC activities

The Signalling Programme

We deliver:

– An onboard ETCS system integrated with DK-STM and SE-STM and a

solution for onboard integration with PZB

– A DK-STM integrated and approved with DK-ATC lines

– Integration of Alstom ETCS onboard with DK trackside(s)

We do not deliver:

- Integration of SE-STM with Swedish trakside (covered by Trafikverket)

- Integration of PZB onboard and German trackside (to be covered by RU

in cooperation with DB if needed)

- Approval of rolling stock in other contries (secure interoperabilty though)

Borders to Germany

Much lower traffic level than Øresund

Mainly Freight traffic

Manual transitions at low speed/standstill on existing connections

Attempts from SP at setting up a permanent cooperation with DB, so

far with little success

Germany has not current plans to investing in ERTMS lines bordering

to DK

RFC3/Corridor B is not highest priority in Germany

• Manual transition ”border” at platform

• German trains allowed to operate into shunting area with PZB only

• German deployment of ERTMS in this area uncertain

• Station locally operated today (Both German and Danish Signaller)

• Change of Catenary system at standstill

• Manual change between ZUB & PZB at standstill.

Immersed tunnel, signalled by DK (ERTMS L2, Alstom)

• New ”border” at North entry to Burg

• Tunnel projekt/DK runs approval in Germany

• Uncertain upgrade of line and deployment of ERTMS from German side to Burg st.

• Special tunnel evacuation procedures (19 km long). Planned use of ETCS Reverse mode with special OR rule.

• Physical border on the block south of Tønder station

• No line block between Tønder and Niebüll

• Mechanical interlocking at Niebüll (owned by DB)

• Line operated by private company NEG AG

• Trains operating are Danish (Arriva trains)

• Danish ATC balises used in Niebüll on German side today
