The SeoulTower

The Seoul Tower is one of the most

recognized landmarks in Seoul. Among other things,

it serves as a communications

tower and sits atop a hill that dominates

the city skyline.

I hiked to the tower on a very hot day to take a few photos.

There is a cable car that will take visitors from the base of the mountain

to the top—near the tower (but I decided to walk up when I visited).

were some steps that I used to climb up the hillside to the tower.

I shot the car bringing other

folks up the steep mountain to the

park above.

I took a very pleasant walk up a sidewalk and steps to

get to the top of the mountain—on a very hot

and humid day.

When I arrived at the base of the tower, I took a

telephoto shot of the microwave and other antennas on the massive tower.

Though it was hot and muggy, there was a bad haze in the Seoul area, so the photos were not very brilliant.

Near the huge Seoul Tower, there was a second tower, with many antennas on

it, as well.

Note the hazy background that had settled over Seoul that day.

Not far from the tower, on the edge of the mountain, there were huge antique kilns (for

what use I do not know).

top, an artist had some interesting

sculptures on exhibit.

A very interesting “fad” was noted on the mountain. I saw dozens of padlocks hung on a fence surrounding the tower area.

They had names of “lovers” affixed to them.

Close-ups of some of the padlocks revealed paintings, hearts, and

messages. Some were neat and some were not so nicely done.

photos (and catching my breath),

I shot the impressive tower –

framed with the tress on the side of

the hill.

After visiting the tower on the mountain, I walked toward the center of Seoul. Near the tower is the LG CNS building. Jongho

Rho, my Korean “daughter’s” father, works in the building.
